Peace, Do you have peace today? Are you complete, whole, do you have health, safety, prosperity, harmony, rest, and free of agitation and discord. Are you a Peace – maker? What ingredients are needed for Peace, find out today as we follow the Prince of Peace to have peace!
Blessed are the Peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God. (Matt. 5:9) I must tell you that this is one of the hardest and most difficult verses that I have had to deal with from God’s Word.
I want peace with all people; I want to be a loving and caring person. And, I certainly want to be called a Son of God. I want Peace in my home, church, family, friends, Nation and the Nations of the World.
I watch the news at night; I want Peace for all people. I want Peace in our schools and churches. I want peace in all of Europe. I want peace in Russia, Africa and the Nations of the World. There seems to be no Peace. The prophet Ezekiel wrote ” My hand shall be against the prophets who envision futility and who divine lies; because they have seduced my people, saying, “Peace!” when there is no peace-”
( Jeremiah 6:14) “They have healed the hurt of My people slightly, Saying Peace, Peace! When there is no peace.”
We find in the Old Testament the meaning of peace was completeness, soundness, and well being of the total person. This peace was considered God-given and obtained by following the Law. The Psalmist
wrote in (Ps 119:165) “Great peace have those who love Your law, And nothing causes them to stumble.” And, the physical peace and safety (Ps 4:8) “I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” Then we have contentment (Is 26:3) “You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.”, Prosperity (Ps. 122:6-7)”Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem; May they prosper who love you. Peace be within your walls, Prosperity within your palaces.” And the absence of war (I Sam.
7:14)..There was Peace between Israel and the Amorites.”
We all know the Traditional Jewish greeting, Shalom, being a wish for Peace. So what where the prophets talking about peace peace and there is no peace. What are we talking about today? Peace peace and we find little peace.
We turn to the New Testament, peace often refers to the inner tranquility for the Christian whose trust is in God through Christ Jesus. Jesus spoke of peace as a combination of hope, trust and quiet in the mind and soul, which would only come through and by the reconciliation of man with God.
We first hear of this peace being proclaimed by Angels at the Birth of Jesus in (Luke 2:14) “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, good will toward men!” We find this Birth being the fulfillment of the Messiah. You can read this in (Is. 9). Then we find Christ as He teaches the exciting and beautiful Sermon on the Mount “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”
Christ taught this peace at the Lord’s Supper. “Peace I leave with you, My peace, I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be trouble, neither let it be afraid.” Peace, Shalom!
Do you have peace to give today? Shalom, Completeness, wholeness, peace, health, welfare, safety, soundness, tranquility, prosperity, fullness, rest, harmony, the absence of agitation and discord.
Shalom is so much more than the absence of war and conflict, it is the wholeness that the human race seeks. It is the peace Messiah brought, “Glory to God in the highest; and on earth peace, good will toward men!”
Christ Jesus was and is the peace bring-er while we are to be the peacemakers. Christ brought peace between God and humanity. Christ brought peace in your life, your family, nations, the World. Jesus is the Prince of Peace and He gives this peace to all that will accept Him as the Messiah. As their personal Savior and Lord!
Peace will not come separate from Jesus Christ. You may have accepted Jesus Christ as your savior, but have you been a peacemaker in the lives of others? When you become a peacemaker than you will be called a Son of God. Not a son of humanity, or the earth, but a son like the first born son, Jesus Christ, a son of God through Christ Jesus.
If you have never accepted Jesus Christ in your heart and/or you do not have the peace we have just spoken about. Maybe today would be the day you can invite Jesus to come into your heart. Ask Him to forgive you of your sins and began your new life of Peace. You will have peace within and you can then bring peace to others.
