I learned a lot from proverbs and their relationship to similes and metaphors from Retreat ’06. I understood much more clearly that I am a house, God’s temple because the kingdom of God dwells within my house. And I also learned that God’s word is architectural. So if I am a house than it stands to reason I have doors in my house, both to the outside and doors that connect rooms within. I found out that these doors or gates can represent power and authority and that God has given me, as a believer, keys to open these doors.
I find in my own life that if I shut and lock a door it can be because I do not want to share what’s in the room with someone else or I just didn’t ‘know’ the room was locked or maybe even existed. When through God’s help and correction the doors get opened, than He has free access to all of me and others have access to me and real communication results which is power. For this to happen for me would be an example of happiness.
Debi’s observations from the Sara’s teachings on Proverbs are very astute.
As I read this quote I also thought about the scripture where Jesus says about “doors” in John 10:1-9, (and I condense it)…I Myself Am the Door…I Am the Door…anyone who enters in through Me will be saved…will live. He will enter in and go out freely and will find pasture”…(amp.) i.e. sweet peace and abundance.
Jesus is an OPEN DOOR. He invites us freely to enter in. He is open to all who would enter in “the body of Christ”. Therein is true happiness. Jesus knows how to “open doors”. During this time of grace His door is open. And those who enter in will fine TRUTH, LOVE and HAPPINESS>
I also looked at this quote in another light. I was thinking that sometimes we have opened our hearts to someone in certain incidents or situations, not looking for or even considering reciprocation but out of the abundance of Holy Spirit in our hearts, we reach out or do a godly deed, that is an open door through which the blessings of GOD can visit us. He may use it in a different situation and the blessing might come in an entirely different scenario but THE BLESSINGS of GOD will come through this open door. And the BLESSING OF GOD is true joy and happiness. JUST DO IT!!
