I love the word RETRO! For one thing I can just drag any old thing out of my closet and it works. And another real important thing I can use my ‘old way of life’ and tell it to others without saying words I just don’t like, “we use to do it this way.”
Now about my Retro…for today. When things didn’t go right, we would write for a teacher or parent 100 times the opposite of what we just did.
This week I was having some real weak moments, Like my desk is a total complete disgraceful upside down mess. My closet looks like a summer breeze blew in and blew out without taking anything with it. My overall house looks like dust is a valuable piece of art. And, my gardens and patios are as decorative as if a hurricane came to visit but of course it didn’t.
I found myself speaking to myself in words not becoming to myself or to anyone in sight including my precious little dogs. I think they found haven under my bed. I found my thoughts out of sight and making so sense at all,
So as I lay sleeping last night I heard in the night myself saying over 100 times,(1) “I Can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.” 
It got stuck in my head and it would not stop. I jumped out of bed and yelled…”Yeah, Yeah, Redskins!!!” No, I found myself yelling as loud as I could in my own head 100 times. (2) “I can jump over a wall, I can run through a troop.” Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Today, things on my desk and around my lovely home will have a real RETRO Happy look.

Dorothy, you are truly a jewel. I read your rah! rah! rah! and I was encouraged but I was even more encouraged when you showed up to help.

Thanks for the encouragement to get up and get it out. I am going to follow suite, (soon) and run through the “troop” of junk in my garage. Oh, thank GOD for the strength to do it. I could also use a little muscle power from the angels, in case the LORD is listening and has a special assignment HE’D like to give to one or two of them.

Thank you for this insightful article. I want to share a story about a beautiful butterfly jacket – trying to unclutter my retro closet I gave it to a fellow teacher. The recipient was delighted to receive it. The day before one of her students had drawn a beautiful watercolored butterfly and had given it to her to hang on her wall. He was delighted with the wonderful artistic way he had designed it. The teacher told me as she looked at it, she couldn’t believe it. It was exactly like the butterfly on the jacket I had given her. She wore it the next day just for him. We both knew that this was a God thing! Thank you God for touching so many that day with a retro.
Sounds like you were thinking the same thoughts the Holy Spirit was thinking. Great that you were timely with your sharing so the teacher and student could be blessed.
Looks as if God’s ‘retro’ Word proved as powerful and alive for your need as it was for the author who penned it many ‘retro’ years ago. That is an encouragement.
