  1. This quote makes me think about that in each one of us there is an authentic self that is truly the whole and healthy person that God made us to be and that often it is hidden. Your blog, Sara, “Mirror of Self” talks about this “…when we allow the search by you, we give you permission to search our heart and reveal a lovely Diamond hidden in a rock. ”

    1. I like your answer but what page will I find “Mirror of Self”. I wanted to read about a diamond hidden in a rock. Psalm 19 was part of my devotion today and I just love the part that “God’s Word is better than a diamond? and O God my Altar-Rock” read below from Message Psalm 19:

      10 God’s Word is better than a diamond,
      better than a diamond set between emeralds.
      You’ll like it better than strawberries in spring,
      better than red, ripe strawberries.

      11 -14 There’s more: God’s Word warns us of danger
      and directs us to hidden treasure.
      Otherwise how will we find our way?
      Or know when we play the fool?
      Clean the slate, God, so we can start the day fresh!
      Keep me from stupid sins,
      from thinking I can take over your work;
      Then I can start this day sun-washed,
      scrubbed clean of the grime of sin.
      These are the words in my mouth;
      these are what I chew on and pray.
      Accept them when I place them
      on the morning altar,
      O God, my Altar-Rock,
      God, Priest-of-My-Altar.

      1. You will find the ‘Mirror of Self’ blog if you click on ‘Inspiration’ at the top of the Daily Lily page and then click on page 3 at the bottom of the page. It’s the second blog from the bottom.
        I like what the Message says in your comment above.

      2. Thanks Debi, you are good w/research. I found it right away. And look what I found in the treasure of the blog”

        “Mirror of Self means judge myself.
        I must use the teachings of Jesus and His life as my standard for results. The mirror of self doesn’t lie. So pride must be within my heart. My heart must have a treasure box for my secrets that can only be revealed by my Mirror of Self.”

        Psalm 19 written above again has diamond, hidden treasure, and Rock!!! Maybe I had this Psalm in mind when writing the blog on “Mirror of Self.” We write, talk, study, pray, meditate on God’s Word, but WOW when it comes time to walk it all out it sounds so different than any of the above verbs, write, talk, study, pray, meditate. Maybe that is the reason the Psalm wrote in the same Ps. “Keep me from stupid sins, from thinking I can take over your work.”

        NKJ uses the word presumptuous sins instead of stupid. (presumptuous adjective (of a person or their behavior) failing to observe the limits of what is permitted or appropriate : overconfident, arrogant, bold, audacious, forward, familiar, impertinent, insolent, impudent, cocky; cheeky, rude, impolite, uncivil, bumptious;

  2. Thomas Merton, the Trappist monk and mystic who wrote these words, was speaking of the human world as well as the world of nature.

    Parker J. Palmer writing and commenting on Healing and Resistance wrote, “A still, small voice speaks the truth about me, my work, or the world. I hear it and yet act as if I did not. I withhold a personal gift that might serve a good end or commit myself to a project that I do not really believe in. I keep silent on an issue I should address or actively break faith with one of my own convictions. I deny my inner darkness, giving it more power over me, or I project it onto other people, creating enemies where none exist.”

    This brings to my mind Election Day coming up Tuesday, Nov. 7, do I vote? Why yes of course I should vote and not keep silent. My vote has a voice. There is wholenss that will be found by my formula “admit, face and change” Also Wendy’s blog on candle in darkness. Are we withholding our candle (gift) and not bringing forth wholeness in ourselves and others and the world. This is quite an interesting study for us.

  3. 1 Thessalonians 5:14:KJV
    “Now we exhort you, … warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.”

    I have just come to the understanding a little of this scripture and this quote with the help of Tammy this week in learning how to help those that are out of control like when in the hospital and can’t do for themselves to give them choices. Light off or on, bed up or down. Not sure she said it exactly like this but I found that when I accept others where they are and give then the choices they can make there is a hidden wholeness in them and me.

    In this one little verse God shows us wholeness for Holy Living…warn, comfort, support and patience. He goes on to say in verse 15 “…always pursue what is good both for yourself and for all.”

    This quote has been giving me a lot of food for thought and my plate is very full with this wisdom. Sure hope I apply this wisdom correctly so I will see and know hidden wholeness.
