Lighted Honeybees For The King

One day a small honeybee was sitting on a tiny flower. He was sucking in the sweet nectar of the flower. This day he was in the King’s garden. All the honeybees bragged that the King’s garden had the sweetest nectar and the prettiest flowers that they had ever seen. Thus, the nectar made from His flowers made the sweetest honey.

The honeybee would often sit and watch the King each day as He tenderly cared for each flower. He seemed to know just what to do to get rid of injurious things to the plant. He would once in a while pinch the biggest ones back. Surprisingly they grew back bigger and better with each plucking. The King tenderly caressed each flower and breathed in its sweet fragrance. Sometimes He was seen spending more time over one than another. He looked like He was praying for the flower. The flower always seemed to stand a little taller after such a touch from the King.

The honeybee knew this was a caring and unique King. The King gave a large amount of his time to these tiny flowers in His garden. The bee thought, What a magnificent King. He started wondering, How can I show this King that someone notices His kindnesses.

He went back to the hive and got his fellow workers to help him come up with the appropriate way to go about showing their thanks for such a wonderful King.

One honeybee said, Why don’t we give Him some of our fine, exquisite honey

Another one said, Why don’t we make a thank you card for Him.

Another one retorted, Well we’re honeybees and that’s a little difficult to do, don’t you think

I know, said the little honeybee, Let’s write Him a message in the air

Well, how do you propose to do that said another honeybee.

Well, every night I see these little lightning bugs. They fly hither and throe. What if we took a little of the light from the eternal flame which burns in the King’s front yard and write Him a message so that He can see.

Oh, that is quite a good idea, but you know no one can enter the King’s gate unless they believe in Him. We all must believe in Him and become kind, good, and loving like Him. Then, we can enter in the gate and take a little flame and form a message to Him, said the honeybee. Who will join me? Come, come, I say who will join me? You know it takes a lot of honeybees to make a message fit for a King.

All the honeybees thought about what was just said. They even called upon their friends from other hives to come and join in. Slowly one by one the honeybees entered in the gate, each taking a flame with them as they went into their own world.

One day the honeybee said, I believe we have enough bees to make a message now. He whispered to each what the plan was. They all nodded in agreement.

That night as darkness settled over the land the honeybees all arranged themselves in the King’s garden. As the King looked down he saw the most magnificent sight. There before Him was the most beautiful rose He had ever seen. The honeybees had formed a lighted rose for the King.

(Are you carrying a light for the King?)

I am a novice writer and painter who loves to be creative. I love singing but can't sing without a hymnal, except for children's songs. I love to make up my own songs and love the old hymns. I love to garden and got that love from my Mom and Dad who taught be everything I know from planting to harvesting to canning. I'm happy gardening, walking with my pug, JD Sir Winston Churchill, painting, and crafting. I love to spend Saturday's sitting in my rocker going through a bible study. I love working with elementary school aged children and seeing them use their creative gifts. I have taught Sunday school for a number of years and taught in the public schools for 18 years. I might say I'm retired but I spend most of my time subbing and enjoy it immensely. The kids spark my own creativeness.

    1. Thank you for your kind words. We are each a tiny bit of the rose for our King Jesus.

My friend and I said a prayer that Doctor Jesus would give you an abundance of energy to do all that you need to get done.
      Love, Mrs. O

      2. Boy did God give you energy. The Daily Lily and I were so thankful. You even came to school and helped students on a field trip who really needed your help. Nothing stands in your way of helping others. The Stand by Be Club is blessed having you serve like one of the honeybees in my story. Totu, of course, is another one of those lighted honeybees. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I have a feeling that you both will be serving someone somewhere. Love, Mrs. O

      3. I enjoy being in Stand by Me because you get to see the kids grow into smart, normal, and wonderful kids that they are. I think God created them to show me the light. They teach me how to act and take everyone in. They look for what is inside not outside. I can trust them! Thank you for letting me go on the feild trip to enjoy the kids. I am blessed to have you as a teacher!

      4. Hi Grace…I have learned about something new tonight from your blog. I did not know about “Stand by Me.” Is this something special in your school or does other schools have it as well?

It sounds so very special and it would take a special person like you to act so courageously and with such love.

You are a light and one that gives many others light. Thank You.
        In God’s love,
        Sara
