A song written and sung by the late Jessy Dixon;
🎵🎤Fill my cup, Lord;
I lift it up Lord;
Come and quench this thirsting of my soul.
Bread of Heaven, feed me till I want no more.
Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole.🎵

Song of Songs (A wood carving by (PC)
“The flowers are springing up, the season of singing birds has come,…” (SOS 2:12)
The Psalmist gives us a word picture of our thirsting soul. Psalm 23:5;
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.”
Beautiful place and space to be with our souls where our cup is overflowing with love, peace and joy and, much more. Yet, we may not be there but yearn to know how. Jessy Dixon ends his Song, “Fill My Cup Lord” with instructions with how to begin our journey;
🎶“… if the things that this world gives you
Leave hungers that won’t pass away,
My blessed Lord will come and save you
If you kneel to Him and humbly pray—🎵

“Fill my cup Lord; I lift it up Lord;…” 🎵🎶🎵🎶beautiful song, and awesome reminder of Who can fill us up! Psalm 23: 5,6 footnotes says: (NLT) “In ancient Near Eastern culture, at a feast it was customary to anoint a person with fragrant oil. Hosts were also expected to protect their guests at all costs. God offers the protection of a host, even when enemies surround us. In the final scene of this Psalm, we see that believers will dwell with the Lord. God, the perfect Shepherd and host, promises to guide and protect us throughout our life and to bring us into his house forever.”
Beautiful picture above of that colorful 💛
colorful bird 💛
What a perfect illustration that beautiful bird carving is for this blog of Sara’s! The bird appears to be singing out the scripture Sara posted, SOS 2:12, as a prayer for “Fill my cup, Lord; I lift it up Lord; Come and quench this thirsting of my soul.”
And I love what Tammy’s footnotes say …”Hosts were also expected to protect their guests at all costs. God offers the protection of a host, even when enemies surround us.”
I think the bird in the photo reminds us of that. These two scriptures came to mind about God’s loving care: “I know all the birds of the hills, and all that moves in the field is mine.” (Psalm 50:11. And from Luke 12:6, “Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God.”
Sara’s encouraging blog and Tammy’s comment also made me think of this scripture promise: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” Matt. 5:6
Jesus promises “rest for your souls,” which implies peace and spiritual refreshment, not just physical sleep.
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 NKJV https://bible.com/bible/114/mat.11.28.NKJV
I just love our blog and comments for such a time as this. It seems we are watching wars, loss of life, division wherever humans dwell and more. Yet, we are not forgotten. I love how He speaks to us, “come unto me.” The way a parent opens their arms to a child that looks for arms and hugs offered. So many words and visuals offered to us, each of us, as we try to manage this stressful time and season.
