“A Thanksgiving Prayer
Samuel F. Pugh
“O God, when I have food,
help me to remember the hungry;
When I have work,
help me to remember the jobless;
When I have a home,
help me to remember those who have no home at all;
When I am without pain,
help me to remember those who suffer,
And remembering,
help me to destroy my complacency;
bestir my compassion,
and be concerned enough to help;
By word and deed,
those who cry out for what we take for granted.”
I join Samuel F. Pugh in his prayers for Thanksgiving. I pray and remember especially the children and women of Darfur that are without their homes, food and care even at this very moment. I ask all of you to join with me in prayer for the ones that are hungry all over the world including our great nation, America.
If you would like more information about how to help in Darfur or other places you may visit the following sites for more information. I would also like to say thank you to Ann Curry, Today’s Show and Brian Williams, Nightly News for the bravery of Ann and her reporting recently in bringing the “Darfur conflict” to our attention. Ann Curry with her calm assurance and love bursting forth for the women and children of this area sure woke up a great big giant within me to see just how blind one can be. Ann not only provided the news and made us aware but she has provided info for ways to help. See list below. Blessings to you Ann Curry and your family.
Also, Many Blessings to each of you in the village of The Daily Lily and your loved ones on This Thanksgiving Day from our home to yours.

This is a beautiful prayer to pray around the Thanksgiving table. And what a better cause than to help, in some way, Darfur. Isaiah 1 :17 tells us to “learn to do good; seek justice, reprove the oppressor, defend the fatherless, plead for the widow.”
Thanks for sharing this info on the people and organizations who are doing just that and how we can help here at The Daily Lily also. I join with you in these prayers.
And thanksgiving blessings to you and your family also.
“This is the day that the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” THANKSGIVING Blessings on all the beautiful LILIES and the handsome TIGER LILIES of thedailylily.com.
I am so grateful for the words of encouragement, instruction, exhortation, admonition, joy and humor that have evolved in a relatively short time on thedailylily.com. This is truly the “GOOD NEWS STATION” for AMERCIA, for the NATIONS and GLOBAL!! Our young girls, like Grace and Toto, are writing EPISTLES of encouragement and love. Our young boys like Luke, Noah, Nathaniel and Nicholas, are preparing their “horses” to go into the battle with JESUS, the CAPTAIN OF THE HOSTS. Sincere parents are training up their young ones in the way that they should go with precision, devotion, and inspiration and sharing that process with us. The Body Of Christ is looking more and more glorious from this angle and how excting and encouraging THAT IS!! Jesus said, “When I return, will I find faith on the earth?” Oh, YES! Jesus. Let us be the ones who go to work for YOU to insure that the People whom YOU have called by Your Name will become stronger and stronger in FAITH and that we would help strengthen one another as we do now on the dailylily.com and in our churches and to help call into the Kingdom ALL THOSE WHO ARE EVER TO COME INTO THE KINGDOM through the WORD which we preach”, as Jesus prayed for us in the Gospel of John 17:20-21.
I am most thankful for Jesus and what HE did for us and continues to do through the HOLY SPIRIT upon these children and their families. May the Lord GOD bless them and all as we grow in wisdom and use knowledge to bring others into the Kingdom and bring in the KINGDOM REIGN OF JESUS CHRIST ON THE EARTH, for the Kingdom of God is truly at hand, and we are seeing a portion of it right here!!
After Daniel had uncovered the prophetic books about the captivity of which he was a vicitm, that discovery elicited a prayer from his lips which is a true intercession for his nation and now ours and I would like to paraphrase it here, in a similar way that Daniel prayed for his nation.
“O MASTER, great and august GOD, You never waver nor give up on those who love You and do as You say. Yet we, Your nation, have sinned in every way imaginable. Evil things have been done in Your nation. We have rebelled, dodged and taken detours around Your clearly marked paths. We’ve turned a deaf ear to your servants the prophets, the pastors, the true ministers who preached Your Word to us and our leaders, our elders and all peoples in this land. You have kept Your convenant with us and done all things righteously but we have guilt and shame in this nation, the United States of America, whose foundation You appointed. Our sins and our shame are before a righteous GOD. Against YOU and only YOU have we sinned.
Compassion and mercy of the Lord God Almighty are our only hope since in our rebellion we have forfeited our rights. This nation has ceased to pay attention when You tell us how to live, the clear teaching of which is in the Holy Scripture, the BIBLE. As a nation we have ignored what YOU said, defied Your instructions and did what we pleased. And now payday is coming…the solemn consequences of a loose moral underbelly, as revealed in Your Word, the wages of sin.
And we are just recipients of these consequences because we persistently and defiantly ignore You.
MASTER, You are our GOD for we are the people whom You have delivered through Your Son Jesus Christ. We confess for our nation that we have turned from You and Your precepts. Following the lines of what YOU have always done in setting people and things right, please do NOT turn away in anger from us, Your nation, or abandon us
because we are crying out to You right now in an appeal to Your compassion, mercy and FORGIVENSS.
Look down upon us on this Thanksgiving Day 2006 and let the WIND of the HOLY SPIRIT blow across this nation and bring repentence, rivival and restoration to AMERICA that it once again will preach the WORD of GOD TO ALL ITS CITIZENS and that we would turn from our wicked ways and seek you and that YOU WILL HEAL OUR LAND. AMEN (MESSAGE PARAPHRASE DANIEL 9:4-19) (2Chon.7:14)

What a beautiful poem to reflect on during this holiday season. Thank you.
I join Debi and Dorothy in also thanking you and your family in all that you do for The Daily Lily and for reaching out and touching so many across this land with the Word of God. I thank you for bringing before us current issues which we need to be aware of in order to pray and act on. I thank you for setting aside your time to write and be a mighty trumpet for Jesus. May the Lord bless you this year in a mighty way. May your fruit be plentiful. May lives be changed through your voice and through Jesus penning through you books and articles He wants to bring forth. May there be much joy as the white pages of the coming year unfold on page after page.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family,
Love Rena
I want to also send blessings to the webmaster of thedailylily.com and all the lovely and honorable lilies that grace our site. I pray as Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:57, “But THANKS be to God Who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved BRETHERN, be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord for you know that your labor is NOT IN VAIN.” And so we give thanks to the Lord for the BODY OF CHRIST and our brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus Who has blessed us with every heavenly blessing.
I’m thankful for this awesome website. I’m thankful for Sara and Gary for all they do for our Lord. I’m thankful for all God’s Daily Lily angels that help spread promise and hope to our world. I’m thankful for my Lord and all that he’s doing in my life. I pray everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. May the love of Jesus shine brightly through each of his children.
To God our Father and the Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit for hearing our prayers as we lift them up this day and the days gone by for Darfur and the hungry….once again thanking God for this website and the information that it gives and giving thanks for all who participate in sharing so much that is so vital …Blessed Thanksgivng to all….dj
