  1. “And everyone who hears these words of MINE and does not do them will be likened unto the foolish man who built his house upon the sand. The rain fell, the floods came and the winds blew and beat against the house and it fell and how great was the fall of it.
But everyone who hears these WORDS of MINE and acts upon them by obeying them will be like the sensible, prudent, practical and wise man who built his house upon the ROCK! The rain fell, the floods came and the wind blew and beat against the house and yet, IT DID NOT FALL, because it was founded upon the rock,”(Mat. 7: 24-26amp)
The WORD of GOD speaks about building a firm foundation
of our faith, building like Abraham did, who looked forward in time to that CITY OF GOD that was built with a firm foundation…that is the CITY, the KINGDOM Whose Builder and Maker is GoD. (Heb.11:10)
The Lord encourages us to be like Trees planted by the Rivers of water whose leaf does not fade nor wither, whose roots go way down deep into the earth. They will stay steady in the storm and will not be uprooted when the winds of adversity blow and BLOW THEY WILL!! And that foundation, Paul says in Eph. 2:20-21, is the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Jesus Christ, Himself, as the Chief Cornerstone. And in Him the whole structure is joined, bound and welded together and continues to RISE UP, GROW UP, INCREASE in SIZE (as Sara’s quote for the day suggests…to “grow taller and higher” into a HOLY TEMPLE consecrated to the LORD”, until it fills the whole earth.
In 2Tim.2:19, Paul says that the firm FOUNDATION laid by GOD stands sure, unshaken and sealed. The Lord knows
who are His and let anyone who names himself of the Lord Jesus Christ, stand aloof from iniquity. This reminds me of the lesson Gary taught this morning from 1Peter, who says in his letter that we who were once NOT a people have been made HIS people through the mercies and pity of the LORD Jesus. And He knows who we are, HIS PEOPLE, and we, who have given up iniquity, guile, adverse and perverse attitudes, have the Lord’s mercy and are called by His name and taste that the Lord is good!
Gary taught from Peter that we were to be living stones and built INTO THE FOUNDATION OF the spiritual house to become a holy priesthood and a holy nation unto the Lord. We are kings and priests of that Spiritual Edifice the church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
So it would behoove us to dig deeper and deeper, as the LILIES do, into the WORD of God as we lay upon the FOUNDATION of the CORNERSTONE JESUS CHRIST, so that we will be able builders of the TEMPLE that WILL FILL THE WHOLE EARTH,and the GLORY of it, therein.

  2. Skyscrapers require a foundation that is anchored in bedrock (the solid rock underlying unconsolidated surface materials (as soil);lowest point)in order to support the structure and keep it from blowing over in the wind. God’s steadfast love is like a skyscraper..it reaches to the heavens(Ps 36:5) And His foundation is in the holy mountains (Psalm 87:1). His heavenly throne has a foundation that is righteousness and justice(Psalm 89:14). A good architect builds a model before he builds the structure and God is that architect that models for us how to build. MG told us above that we are His spiritual house and that our roots must go down deep to withstand the winds. This says to me that We have to hit bedrock…”whoever falls on this stone (The Rock, Jesus Christ) will be broken…(Matt 21:44). When we are broken before the Lord we can truly live and say ‘not my will but yours be done’. Our foundation must also be in His holy mountain because He commands us in I Peter 1:16 to “Be holy, for I am holy” (Gary’s teaching was on this also recently). Only through personal holiness in all that we do inside and out will we see and move higher with God. For without holines no man shall see the Lord (Heb 12:14). This quote really causes me to think about the depth of my foundation and the steadfast love of the Lord in and through me.

  3. I was sitting here thinking about Gary’s and MG’s response to this blog. It does take longer to grow a oak tree than a tomato plant. But as MG states in her response, if these plants are not planted deep in the rich soil, they will be destroyed by the winds and the rains. If they are deep enough in their foundation then they can grow each day and become the plant that God intended for them to be. The smallest seed planted deep enough in the rich soil can become the largest in the garden. Mark 4:30-32 “Jesus said,”How can I describe the Kingdom of God? What story should I use to illustrate it? It is like a mustard seed planted in the ground. It is the smallest of all seeds, but it becomes the largest of all garden plants; it grows long branches, and birds can make nests in its shade.” Plant your roots deep into God’s foundation, so the storms of life don’t destroy you. Water and feed your soul with the living word of God and absorb the light and the warmth from God’s SON. Grow each and everyday and always be ready for God’s mighty HARVEST!!!!

  4. Ah….Chickenfarmer..and MG… that is the same scripture I had thought of when I read that quote…its the biggest when it (the mustard tree is fully grown)…so it would be like the tallest building we could build…and to follow how it was planted…in rich soil and in the right area…and deep enough to allow for the weight and height of its growth….to use that same procedure in building …Jesus knows how to build Really Big and Tall buildings…I understand in Revelation 21:9-27 that the New Jerusalem is Really Tall and big….and its foundations go really deep…as does the Church today…according to Ephisians 2-19-…the household of God …built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ, Himself being the chief corner stone, in whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy Temple in the Lord; In whom ye also are built together for an habitation of God through the Spirit…….dj

  5. Great thoughts by all, I think and I am still thinking.

Does this also mean “the lower one bows the higher one stands.” Sara

Words like honor others, submit to others, worship God, give generously to Him and others and bow at His feet.

Its words like this that makes me think Pride, arrogance, etc. cannot stand in the face of depth.

    Just thinking out loud!

  6. Yes, Sara, you are right. I think Gary stressed that in his lesson and you emphasized it in the Q & A SHARE, following. Peter told us to get rid of pride, WICKEDNESS (which I learned means “TWISTED”) to be rid of our twisted, like….. manipulative doings…deceit, insincerity, pretense, hypocrisy, grudges, envy, slander, jealousy …becoming pure in heart, like Debi pointed out or we’re NEVER going to see God. Oh, that is scary; that baggage that drags us down and away from the LORD.
Sara asks if “the lower we bow means the higher we stand”? In the Lord’s economy, the first shall be last and the last shall be first. One must lose his life to gain it. One has to GIVE to Receive. These all seem to go against the “world’s” statutes. So in accordance with the Lord’s way of thinking, it would seem that the lower one bows, (submits to one another) the higher his/her place in the heavenly realm of GOD’S ECONOMY!

  7. Sara asked: “Does this also mean “the lower one bows the higher one stands.” Sara”. The verse that came to my mind in answer to this is from Luke 14:10.”But when you are invited, go and sit down in the lowest place so that when he who invited you comes he may say to you,’Friend, go up higher.’ Then you will have glory in the presence of those who sit at the table with you.”
I also came across this quote from F.B. Meyer which I thought relevant:
“I used to think that God’s gifts were on shelves
One above the other,And that the taller we grew in Christian character the easier we could reach them.
I now find that God’s gifts are on shelves
One beneath the other. It is not a question of growing taller but of stooping lower. We have to go down, always down, to get God’s best gifts.”

  8. Jesus said in Matthew 20:23-28….Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority over them. but it shall not be so among you, but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister, and whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant; even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many…….. John 13:5 after that he poureth water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded..(Jesus did this)…and he went into the depths of Hell…and now is according to Mark 16:19..(after He had risen from the dead) and after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God…….DJ

  9. Wow, what a study. We sure do need to be grounded in God’s Word to have this firm foundation. Sara said, “the lower one bows the higher one stands”. God certainly shows us throughout His Word, that we must be humble. Matthew 20:28 says: “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give His life as a ransom for many.” Dorothy describes how Jesus lived this, in the scriptures above, He even washed the disciples feet. Now, “the lower one bows the higher one stands”….. I believe the sermon on the Mount is a good illustration of this. Read with me, Matthew 5: 3 – 10 “God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted. God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth. God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied. God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy. God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God. God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God. God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.” Lord, my prayer today is that you help us, as your children, to be like You.

  10. So many wonderful comments. My mother use to say if you are sad or depressed go serve someone and you’ll get happy. A month ago I wrote a story about a retired couple who thought living on top the mountain without others around would make them happy. Not true! See if any of you can identify the lady in the story, a true and faithful servant of the Lord who has a strong foundation.

In a small town close to the major business district sat a house way up in the mountains. The air seemed to be cleaner there, and often the early morning fog would hang in the valley. Looking upon the scene the family at the top of the mountain would think why get up for the valley has a blanket over it so why don’t we just pull up our covers and snooze a few more minutes. Often the minutes grew into hours.

They would exclaim to everyone they knew, “Oh why not snooze. Isn’t that why we retired? No more deadlines. No more hustle and bustle.” Life went on in this manner for quite a while. Summer siesta’s came, winter doldrums passed, fall passed them by, and they slowly lost their spring in their step.

One winter night as they slipped into their sleigh bed as usual, they thought we are tired of our new life style. It was becoming completely boring and unrewarding. Their get up and go had fizzled. They resolved that night that they were no longer going to continue on this Ferris wheel to nowhere and their increasing lack of happiness.

As they determined and prayed about their dire situation, they decided that tomorrow they were going to do something totally different with their lives. As they fell into a deep sleep, they were unaware that the mountains were deluged with an enormous amount of snowfall. It filled the valley and enveloped the mountain. With their covers tucked under their chins and with thermal underwear beneath their woolen attire, they were unaware of what was happening out of doors.

As the snow arose it tipped the house and being completely engulfed with sleep, they were unaware that their sleigh bed had taken off, and they were on a journey that would change their lives forever. Unbeknownst to them their sleigh traveled some distance from its mountain perch.

They were suddenly awaken by such a commotion. A gaggle of geese were surrounding their sleigh bed. Where in the heck were they? They were no longer in the mountains. They were on what seemed to be a pond with geese all disturbed by this new fangled contraption on their turf.

As if all the honking of the geese wasn’t bad enough, suddenly on the scene appeared children of every hue. Where did they come from? Why were they here? What a disturbing situation they found themselves in. Eyes, eyes everywhere all looking at the strange couple that so oddly had appeared out of nowhere.
A few of the children disappeared but returned dragging a lady in tow that was closer to their age.

The lady said, “Who are you and where did you come from?” The couple looked around but not a thing was familiar to them. They had lived on the mountain much to long and had never come down to the valley.
Well the couple replied, “It appears that our sleigh bed has broken loose from our house which use to be way up there. With no house in sight, we must seek a new abode.

The lady replied, “While you look about why don’t you come stay with me for awhile. I just got rid of all my beds, as they were dust collectors and causing me quite a case of dust rashitus. The couple replied, “There’s no such thing. Who has heard of dust causing a rash?” Oh, said the lady one good thing there is less dust and now all my ministry team can come and pray without to much clutter to distract their prays. Come, place you bed in a room and join our team. I promise you that you will never be bored.

The lady told them to rise early as the day in the valley always started early. At exactly 6 a.m. the doorbell rang and a large group of children came to hear a story and be fed by the lady before they trudged on to school. The lady said to the couple, “Grab some books, while I finish these English oats. The woman and man each grabbed a book, which they somehow brought along with them as they sleighed down the mountain. In front of the sleigh bed which landed on the pond was a whole heap of children’s books which the woman had rarely opened since she had ascended the high mountain peaks.

Each took a group and sat cross-legged in the empty rooms. They found that the mystery and adventures that the covers of the books held for so long were spilling out and they were enjoying them as well. Before they knew it they were wrapped up in the stories and so were the children. In came the lady with steaming oatmeal penetrating the air and fruit to the delight of the children. As soon as they were read and fed off they went to be educated.

Before the couple could get dressed, the lady declared we’re off to a home to sing and bring cheer so don’t tarry, but hurry. We must spread cheer and a word of hope from the Good Book. Grab those glad rags and music makers, we have our work cut out for us. Sing with your soul and soar like an eagle. These people don’t need any valley bamboozles. They need a fresh word that only God can give from people who risen above what they are suffering, but who have an understanding of where they are now. “Oh,” said the couple, “We are all game for that.” Off they went in such a flurry. They sang, danced, and held many a soul in prayer up to the Father. They felt that had never been so happy in their lives as they were serving the people. The more they worked, the more energized that they became.

As if this weren’t enough, the lady said you guys make the dessert. The couple set about making their chocolate raspberry surprise. They had not made it in years. Unbeknownst to them, the lady had invited many couples over to partake of this heavenly dessert. All who came, sat and fellowshipped, eating of the delectable surprise. The couples’ heart strings were singing from being put in tune with what the Father had wanted in their lives all along. They were God’s servants and were meant to serve. Only in serving would JOY ring and sing in their lives.

As they continued to work many came to the Lord due to their servitude. How about you? Are you in your sleigh bed with covers pulled up to your chin or over your head or our you serving others for God?
