Spring into Fashion-Accessorize

What does your accessories say about you?
When I see a man giving a speech, or an anchor newsmen giving news, the first thing I do is check out his watch. Not the right watch, not sure what to think. Just my opinion. Now a tie is a must for me and it needs to somewhat match his suit of clothing. Whatever color or style he likes for his personality, career or taste is fine with me. But, a watch for a man speaks! It says time is important and how I ‘use my time’ will be valuable to you the listener.
A womans accessories covers all kinds of things from handbags, jewelry, hat, gloves. It should showcase her inner being or some might say it is a fake, or poor taste. Accessories for both men and women also include your smile, generosity of heart. Have you ever seen the music man, Bono, touring Africa and loving with great love and financial help, providing meds for the poor and HIV positive children and women. When you see Bono and listen to him you see ‘a heart’ that is bigger than the man or his song. He always seems to be wearing a big pair of sunglasses.” Bono says, [I have] very sensitive eyes to light. If somebody takes my photograph, I will see the flash for the rest of the day. My right eye swells up. I’ve a blockage there, so that my eyes go red a lot. So it’s part vanity, it’s part privacy and part sensitivity.” I saw him shaking hands with heads of state and wearing sunglasses. He knows how to accessorize.

“Bono has become one of the world’s best-known philanthropic performers. He has been dubbed, “the face of fusion philanthropy”,both for his success enlisting powerful allies from a diverse spectrum of leaders in government, religious institutions, philanthropic organizations, popular media, and the business world, as well as for spearheading new organizational networks binding global humanitarian relief with geopolitical activism and corporate commercial enterprise.” (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
As Christians, we are able to shop from an upscale department store and choose some of the finest garments and accessories that eyes could behold. Come along with me and enjoy some shopping. Shopping just happens to be one of my most favorite hobbies.
GARMENTS:
Put on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. (Isaiah 61:3) “and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor. “
JEWELRY:
Proverbs 25:12: ‘To one who listens, valid criticism
is like a gold earring or other gold jewelry.”
BRIDAL SHOP:
Isaiah 49:18: “Look around you and see,
for all your children will come back to you.
As surely as I live,” says the Lord,
“they will be like
jewels or bridal ornaments for you to display.”

Man’s Watch:

Let’s not forget the watch. A TIME for every purpose under heaven, a time to be born, and a time to die, a time to plant, a time to heal. Take a look at the time on a Man’s Watch. (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8)

Let’s spring into spring fashion and accessorize. The winds of the Holy Spirit are blowing and properly dressed worshippers are arising. Deep and beautiful levels of partnerships with Jesus, and His partners are appearing in window displays. A new generation is clothed with a ‘holy dressed’ devotion for God’s Word. A rush Of Angel wings are all around releasing anointings, spiritual gifts, a knowing of promises, creative ideas for communication and fellowships. The church is experiencing great favor from the Creator of design.

Are you properly dressed? What does your accessories say about you? Are you adorned with godliness, with good works. (I Tim 2:10) Are men’s hands showing holy hands without wrath and doubting. (I Tim 2:8)

Dear Ones, are we adorned, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband? (Rev. 21:2) Jesus longs for all of His promises to become “Yes” and “Amen” for your family, your friends and the world around you as you reap a precious harvest of souls. I have hopes of all of you joining me for a retreat on “The Four Bees” finding your spiritual gifts. And, then using your gifts for the great harvest that is now being ushered into a ‘fragrant bouquet’ of extremely radical colors and designs to accessorize His Body.

  1. Thank you, Sara, for taking us on a most spectacular shopping spree; shops and boutiques of the highest calibre; displaying nothing but the best and most splendid apparel for both men and women, girls and boys. A sort of
“one size IS FIT for all”. On the first floor of our haute couture fahsion house are displayed ‘robes of RIGHTEOUSNESS in the latest fahionable hue….glistering white linen. On another floor are headdresses…crowns of eternal glory, crowns of blessedness, a victor’s crown, and crowns of life, yes, and even a martyr’s crown.
Yet on another floor we find stylish battle gear and accessories; helmets of salvation, breastplates of righteousness, shields of faith; swords of the Spirit; belts of Truth; and even shoes for beautiful feet to carry the Gospel to the highest mountains. There is everything and anything a child of the Living God could desire with which to clothe oneself for that
“Window Display” appearance with Jesus Christ coming soon to a “storefront” near you.
I surely want to Spring into action, properly clothed, lamp trimmed, as the wind of the HOLY SPIRIT blows anew amongst the peoples of the earth. Jesus said, the wind blows where it listeth and no one really knows where it will blow and whom it will blow upon and whom it will blow into our paths or us into theirs. But the SPIRIT KNOWS! And I want to be appropriately dressed, beautifully coiffed, with my “giving” hands properly manicured, my Gospel bearing feet properly pedicured, wearing that “HOLY DRESSING”. I want Jesus to notice me. He is giving out gifts. And like Esther who attracted the king’s favor because of her godly appearance which resulted in her being able to save a generation of her people….I want the real KING to notice me in communicating the Living Word to a lost generation; to tiny souls of 6 year olds; to younger people who are searching and seeking. Maybe they will notice my “holy accessories” and I will gain favor with them to bring them in the end time harvest to honor and glory for The King.
Thank you, Sara, for this marvelous tour of spiritual, prophetic imagery. I thoroughly enjoyed the journey down the inspirational aisles of DIVINE COUTURE!

  2. When someone is really put together inside and out they are truly authentic and a breath of fresh air….to others and to the Lord. That is what this blog makes me think of and desire. I know He wants this for all His body.

  3. ‘a ‘fragrant bouquet’ of extremely radical colors and designs to accessorize His Body.’

How many darling little heads are in your bouquet? The bouquet the Bride will have in hand when the King Himself comes? Do you see redheads, blondes, brunettes, auburn, black as a crow, white and grey as wisdom all finding a dignified place in the Bride’s Bouquet?

People begetting People! Sheep begetting Sheep? Success begets further Success. It’s about one on one, two by two working together to bring success to God’s Kingdom.

  4. The harvest that is being ushered into a fragrant bouquet is waiting for the two by two and the one on ones to just go out into the fields and pick them…….you are right Sara because the Lord has already told us the fields are ready for the harvest… and we need to Spring into action and have that wisdom that is ours for the asking in this Glorious shopping place…and …The Shop Owner has told us “ask of me.”.
Also I found in the Jewelry section of this shop (Rev 3;18) Gold tried in the fire, …and around the corner there is also white white raiment and eye salve for our eyes !…..

  5. Sara you are a great personal shopper and the clothing and accessories you have selected for us here are eternal. ” For in this tent we groan, longing to be further clothed with our heavenly habitation if indeed, when we have taken it off, we shall not be found naked. For while we are in this tent we groan and are weighed down, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.” (2 Cor 5:2-4)

  6. The Author of this song”Ask of me” is unknown.
Ask of Me, and I will give the nations
As an inheritance for you,An inheritane for you, My children.
Ask of Me, and I will give the nations
As an inheritance foryou; Ask of Me.
Here am I; Send me to the nations
    As an ambassador for You,
An amboassador for You, my Father.
Here am I; send me to the nations
As an ambassador for you; Here; am I

Then there is another song by Ruth Ward Heflin 1978
    I Ask For the Nations,
    I call them by name;
I present them to the Father in Jesus name
    I ask for the nations
    I call them by name;
I present them to the Father in Jesus name
    In the name of Jesus, In the name of the Lord;
I come to Thee, Oh God, In the name of the Lord.
I ask not for riches, I ask not for fame
I ask for the nations In Jesus name
May they not be naked, May they not be ashamed
To stand before Thee, Oh Lord,
    On that great Judgment day.
    Oh may they be spotless, And may they be clothed;
Oh may they know Jesus That day at Thy throne.

……Then one more song I could not find the author
Go Forth into the Ripened Fields
..Go forth go forth into the ripened fields for they are white unto harvest
The time the time for reaping is at hand , the time for souls to be gathered in
What was sown in tears shall now be reaped in joy
The Word of the Lord shall not return void
Cast out your nets all ye fishers of men
In the power of the Spirit
    Revival begins.

……Sara I found in this Glorious Shop You Get A Real Helper to assist you!
He is Called “Holy Spirit” John 14;26(but the Comforter, who is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your rememberance, whatever I have said unto you)….and with Him you just cant go Wrong because He only gives you what you need and what The Father wants you to have so You can be BEAUTIFUL and fit for Heaven and The Bride Groom Jesus!

  7. As I was reading the above blog, I began to think about “going shopping”. I would love to go shopping with these ladies. I started thinking about crowns. Then a picture of Jesus came to my mind. Jesus hanging on the cross wearing a “crown”.
John19:1-6 “then Pilate had Jesus flogged with a lead-tipped whip. 2The soliders wove a CROWN of thorns and put it on his head, and they put a purple robe on him. 3″Hail!” King of the Jews!” they mocked, as they slapped him across the face. 4 Pilatewent outside again and said to the people, “I am going to bring him out to you now, but understand clearly that I find him not guilty.” 5Then Jesus came out wearing the CROWN of thorns and the purple robe. And Pilate said, “Look, here is the man!” 6When they saw him, the leading priests and Temple guards began shouting, “Crucify him! Crucify him!”
A crown of thorns was placed on my savior’s head, so that I can have a beautiful crown of life. Jesus has already shopped for us and has picked out the perfect crown for us. It is a beautiful crown that will fit perfect. Not too small and not too big. Just right.
James 1:12 “God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will recieve the CROWN of life that God has promised to those who love him.”
Rev. 2:10 “Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. The devil will throw some of you into prison to test you. You will suffer for ten days. But if you remain faithful even when facing death, I will give you the CROWN of life.”
Jesus’ CROWN made it possible for us to have the CROWN of life. The next CROWN on Jesus’ head will be not just one but many CROWNS.
Rev. 19 11-12 ” 11Then I saw heaven open, and a white horse was standing there. Its rider was named FAITHFUL AND TRUE, for he judges fairly and wages a righteous war. 12His eyes were like flames of fire, and on his head were MANY CROWNS. A name was written on him that no one understood except himself.”
We need to be ready at all times. We never know when we are going to have to try our crowns on to see if they fit. We may go to sleep tonight and wake up face to face with Jesus. We need to ask ourselves, are we ready to try on our crowns. If we not, we need to get ready.
Thank you Jesus for shopping for us and purchasing a beautiful crown for your faithful children. Thank you Jesus for PAYING IN FULL!!!!! Lord help us to be ready.

  8. AAAH Yes Chickenfarmer….I join you in giving thanks to Our Lord Jesus for paying full price for all that we have recieved and are still receiving daily…..and the thing is Jesus wants more shoppers ! He tells us to go tell others of this wonderful free gift!…..and the only thing one has to do is say Jesus I want to let this life go and receive the life you have for me and let go all my sins and recive you as my Lord and savior and go shoping in this glorious shopping store and have the Holy Spirit help me….Oh its hard but well worth it because there are sooooo many glorious beautiful things God has instore (get it) instore for those who love Him……dj

  9. Wow, what an interesting blog! I read this blog, and LOVED thinking about all the beautiful clothes, accessories, and watches that one can certainly purchase, in this great nation. But as I read it, all I could think of was Moses’ sandals, and how God instructed him to remove them. (Exodus 3:5) I wondered what in the world these old sandals had to do, with all these glorious accessories mentioned here?
In searching the scriptures, I also learned of Joshua’s instruction to remove his sandals. (Jos. 5:15) I still could not understand what the Lord was trying to tell me? So, I consulted with Sara and she asked me to look up Isaiah 20:2 : “the Lord told Isaiah son of Amoz, ‘Take off the burlap you have been wearing, and remove your sandals.’ Isaiah did as he was told and walked around naked and barefoot” Now the footnotes say: “God asked Isaiah to do something that seemed shameful and illogical. At times, God may ask us to take steps we don’t understand. We must obey God in complete faith, for he will never ask us to do something wrong.”
Sara explained to Dorothy, my dilemma, and Dorothy so graciously used her gift, by explaining that “taking off your sandals is like taking off your fleshly things”, i.e. arrogance, pride, hautiness, fear, lies, cowardness, etc. In other words, as Sara has asked us….”Are you properly dressed?” This could mean….do you have the garment of praise on or the spirit of despair, or the spirit of pride on? If we want to be properly dressed, then we may need to take a few things off?
As Sara has mentioned, in Ecclesiastes, there is time for every purpose. A time, maybe to adorn some beautiful accessories, or a time maybe to remove some of our fleshly garments.
I am looking forward to our 3rd annual retreat! I believe, that it will be a time of learning and growing, in the Lord!

  10. Needles, you certainly have the spirit on our dress. Colossians 3:9- says, ‘put off the old man with his deeds. i.e. lying to one another, anger, wrath, malice, filthy language of our your mouth. (hum watch the color of your lipstick) And vs,10 says, put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.

Now listen to The Message, “Don’t lie to one another. You’re done with that old life. It’s like a filthy set of ill-fitting clothes you’ve stripped off and put in the fire. Now you’re dressed in a new wardrobe. Every item of your new way of life is custom-made by the Creator, with his label on it. All the old fashions are now obsolete. “

  11. True, Sara. The Bible points out that our own righteousness…having to always be “right”, always having to win an argument, always vying for ‘oneupmanship’, doing good works to be “SEEN”, and like you mentioned the mouth, flapping one’s mouth to try to control a situation….always having to be in control of others, holier than thou, judgmental, religious spirits….all of that which we heap upon ourselves….our own brand of righteousness, is as FILTHY RAGS.
But we as Christians and disciples of the living God cast off those iron bracelets….those heavy bands and lift up holy hands to God and Savior Jesus Christ. We want diamond and crystal bracelets representing purity around our wrists and golden beads around our necks and NOT heavy iron
chains. Bling is out! The real thing is in.

  12. Thanks to Wendy for sharing about the Crown of Life. For the last several days I had been reading 1 Corinthians 12 in the Max Lucado bible and reading the commentary over and over. You all sure shed further light on it. Max Lucado said can you imagine Christ looking down seeing the soldiers throwing craps for the Lord’s sandals. They considered the event of the day common. He goes on to say the symbolism between us and the soldiers is great. We to are near the cross and like the soldiers play games. “We deal out our judgments and condemnations. Competition. Selfishness. Personal gain. It’s all there. We don’t like what the other did so we walk away in a huff. So close to the timbers but far from the blood. (Quoted from Max Lucado.) How often do walk away in a huff over a trivial matter? How often do we have according to Max, have “I am right rallies? What affect does this have on a group of so called focus believers. Division (from God)! Perhaps dirty ripped clothes. In Rev.

  13. Continued: In Rev 22 verse 12 it says”Listen! I am coming soon! I will bring my reward with me, and I will repay each one of you for what you have done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. 14 “happy are those who wash their robes” so that they will receive the right to eat the fruit from the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. 15 Outside the city are the evil people, those who do evil magic, who sin sexually, who murder, who worship idols, and who love lies and tell lies. May we who are near the cross begin to walk the walk of the Lord’s bride – faithful and true having cast off game playing with others lives.

  14. I thought, The Rev. Lee Woofenden, explained another ‘take off and put on’ very interesting. “Beauty instead of ashes. For the ancient Israelites, ashes carried a greater meaning beyond being the remains after something had been destroyed by fire. Ashes had taken on an additional symbolic meaning. Whenever the Israelites were in mourning, or some great disaster had fallen upon them, or they had received a message of punishment from God because of their disobedience and waywardness, they would show their sorrow and repentance by putting ashes on their head, and also by wearing coarse sack cloth (think: burlap) in place of their usual comfortable garments. So ashes symbolized sadness and mourning.
While we tend to hide our sorrow and mourning from others, the ancient Israelites were very public about theirs. No one could miss someone who was in mourning! And needless to say, people who walked around wearing sackcloth, and with ashes all through their hair, were not the most beautiful sight. In a time of great national catastrophe, nearly everyone would be walking around in sackcloth and ashes, and it was a pitiful sight.
So the promise of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning (oil was used as an aid to beauty), and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair had a wonderful feeling. It spoke of catastrophe and pain being lifted off their shoulders, and replaced with the joy of freedom, the warmth of love, and the richness of life.” (Rev, Lee Woofenden)

  15. “Taking off your sandels is like taking off fleshly things.” Fleshly things or filthy rags.
Isaiah 64:6 “We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn, we will wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind.”
We are all impure. We are born into sin and are all infected. The only cure for this infection is the blood of Jesus. Jesus is the only way to cleanse us from our filthy sins. If we go around as righteous as the High Priest were, then we will wither and fall, being swept away by the wind.
Zechariah 3:3-4 “3 Jeshua’s clothing was filthy as he stood there before the angel. 4 So the angel said to the others standing there, “Take off his filthy clothes.” And turning to Jeshua he said, “See, I have taken away your sins, and now I am giving you these fine new clothes.”
2 Cor. 6:17 “Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord. Don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you.”
We must take off our filthy rags. We must go to our changing room/prayer closet and try on our new clothing. Lord please help us change our clothes before we are swept away by the wind.

  16. MG, you mention “one always having to be in control of others…” I feel that most of the time the one trying to be in control is out of control. Their life is out of control, so they try to control others or other situations. This is not fair for the one being controled. Peter states they are a slave.
2 Peter 2:19 “They promised freedom, but they themselves are slaves of sin and corruption. For you are a slave to whatever controls you.” This is not what God wants for our lives. God sent his precious son to die on the cross, so we can be free. We can’t be free and a slave at the same time. We have to choose which one we are going to be. We can’t serve God and Satan at the same time. We have to chose who we will serve. If we don’t chose, God will chose for us. Romans 8:6 “6 So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. 7For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s law, and it never will. 8That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.”
If we are under the control of our sinful nature, then we are a slave to this. Jesus died to abolish slavery. Jesus was not a coward. He was bold and strong. He could have looked up into the heavens and asked his Father to send the angels down and destroy these cruel men. He did not. He knew he had to fight for our freedom, because we won’t fight for it. He took our beatings and our pain while the nails were being driven into his wrist and feet. He went to battle for us against Satan. He knew we would be too afraid to stand up for ourselves. When we are the “controlers” or the ones being “controled”, we are mocking Jesus. We are telling Jesus that his death for our freedom means nothign to us. We are telling Jesus that we would rather live in bondage than freedom and he died for nothing. We need to be as bold and courageous as Jesus was that day. If we are the ones controling, we need to stop dead in our tracks and fall face down and beg for forgiveness. We need to find our why we are controling and get the proper help we need. If we are being controled, we need to stop dead in our tracks and fall face down and beg for forgiveness. We need to find out why we are able to being controled and get the proper help. This is not why Jesus went to battle for us. The slaves have been set free. Jesus set us free. Who are we to put the chains back on. Forgive us Jesus for being cowards.

  17. Amen, Chickenfarmer! God doesn’t want us to live in bondage, He came to set the captives free! Moses tried several times to get the Lord to send someone else, to led His people out of slavery, Jonah ran from God’s instructions, but thankfully we can choose to be like the three Hebrew children, that were bold enough to refuse to bow to their idol gods. We can choose to be like David, when facing the “Giants of Life”, and face them “Head On”, because we have the “King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the Fairest of Ten Thousands, The Lily of the Valley, The Bright and Morning Star, Wonderful Counselor, The Alpha and Omega, The Beginning and the End” …on our side! And He promises never to leave us nor forsake us! Lord, thank you for your promises!!

  18. Thanks, Wendy for your thoughts on CONTROL. I have a dear friend who is a control freak. This person admits to being almost driven to try control every situation, circumstance and loved one nearby because of fear. This person is afraid that things won’t pan out the way he/she desires it to be; that they have the greater wisdom on a subject or action. In some instances with loved ones and/or children , the excuse is that they are trying to PROTECT or PRESERVE or are tyring to SAVE someone from themselves. These are all excuses and explanations which point to exactly what you are saying in your comment. They are NOT convinced that the LORD JESUS CHRIST has the ability to direct their own lives, and they are trying to cheat Holy Spirit out of His job of directing and conducting lives. So they control the lives of those around them to cover up their doubt, fear and unbelief.

  19. Those who sit so close to the cross, why do we allow people to control us? Years ago when praying I had a vision of one pouring their heart out to Jesus and they thought they had left all at the cross. When they got back they looked around and their was the baggage, which they thought they had left with Jesus, tied securely onto them. I have seen this happen again and again and again with people I have talked with. We wear the deep grooves into the trail with our going back and forth to Jesus. Yes God may have in mind great gifts to hand to us but we are too busy pacing back and forth with our fist clenched, our minds not open to receive due to its heavy burden. Exhausted we walk focused on the burden we bear. Our head is bent deeply downward. The walk is so troublesome we don’t even think of looking upward. Trudge on baby we say! Leave it at the cross! What are we thinking! Bitterness!? Perhaps, perhaps not.. Is it in the walking and the fellowship with others that keep trying to get us out of the rut that we find there is beauty for ashes in Jesus. We thank those who place new glasses upon our face to see truth. Then finally one day we realize we need help to be healthy enough to help others see the beauty of Jesus and all the beauty he has placed around us in others. We become helpers to help others out of the rut. May many come forth and share how they with the help of Jesus flourished in the midst of the spiritual jerking of the controling spirits and how they overcame and are serving Lord Jesus and His people, while the rest wait on them for encouragement to stop the rut walk.

  20. “If we are being controled, we need to stop dead in our tracks and fall face down and beg for forgiveness. We need to find out why we are able to be controled and get the proper help.” Chickenfarmer, this is really a mouth full of real bright red lipstick.

I would think that we are putting others before God? We think the Holy Spirit is weak? We love praise of man more than approval of God? I have noticed that when someone let’s another control them it is because the controller has something the control-lee wants. Like money, prestige, or someone to take care of them, etc. Seems like greed, selfishness, etc. I wonder why controller and control-lee can’t just become partners or go their own way.

  21. Reading and thinking on the thoughts about control…neither controller or control-lee is free because they are living a lie. Just like Sara said in “How Free Are You”….”They think they have the lie well covered. And, there are many that are living in the same lie that helps them keep it covered???” I think Sara hit the nail on the head about the motivation behind the control. Until the controllee faces why they allow (or even encourage) the abuse they can’t get free to move to the next step of freedom (if they really want it). Do we want ‘Money, prestige or someone to take care of them'(quoting Sara)to be the ‘accessories’ we wear that identifies us? Or do we really want the accessories in Sara’s blog ” Spring into Fashion-Accessorize”? so we are adorned for THE Bridegroom. Looks like a controller and controllee are partners like the scripture says in Amos 3:3′ Do two walk together, unless they have agreed?’ They may say they do not not want each other but they want what the other has and so they agree on that. If they didn’t they would part ways.

  22. wow….these conversational teachings being written here are awsome! from the shopping to the controlling…..in all of this I am sooooo glad we have the Holy Spirit and ones like Sara who yield to Him and allow that gift of wisdom pour forth…because without it and wiht our us taking what is given we sure would be in a whold of trouble…not dressed appropriately and being appropriately dressed but at the wrong time….Sara I am reminded of this Hymn when I read your question statement We think the Holy Spirit is weak?………Just a Closer Walk with Thee (author unkown)
    I am weak but Thou art strong; Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
Ill be satisfied as long As I walk, let me walk close to Thee
Through this world of toil and snar3e, If I flater, Lord, who care?
Who with me my burden share? None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee
When my feeble life is over, Time for me will be no more,
Guide me gently , safely oer To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore
(Refrain) Just a closer walk with Thee, Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee, Let it be, dear Lord, Let it be.
II Corinthians 13:4 for we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the Power of God….(and I know thats The Holy Ghost)…..dj

  23. Reading this blog and the following comments, sure does bring about some good dialogue!
Ask for forgiveness, put on the garment of praise, make sure we are doing it at the right time, but what must we be taking off, in order to be “adorned with godliness”?

  24. According to Psalms 45 we might want to take off evil, disobedience, (Proverbs 31)
laziness, non caring attitude about others, worry, weakness of character, unwise words, disrespect for the Lord might be a few things to take off in order to be adorned with godliness.

  25. Thanks to all for the window displays of my spring outfits and accessories. When I window shop I always notice that the windows always reflect me. Likewise I am soul searching as I walk by these little window boxes and take a look at myself.

One thing among others I need to take off is discouragement and weariness.
Revelation 2:3 “You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.”

Galatians 6:9 “And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint.”

As you can see Needles I know the scriptures and I know to take off the above things. And, I can read that at the appointed season I will reap. But, am I faithful to these words or just run out and buy another ‘thing’ to try and decorate the old rags. It’s like wearing winter clothes in spring and spring in summer.

Now if I can just window shop here and shop for my accessories from the many spiritual gifts that each of you are giving I will be encouraged and nicely dressed.

  26. 2 Cor. 6:17 “Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord. Don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you.” This passage from Chickenfarmer in her above comment and the following comment from Rena’s.
“We deal out our judgments and condemnations. Competition. Selfishness. Personal gain. It’s all there. We don’t like what the other did so we walk away in a huff.”

Now, are we doing this to our spiritual family (Rena’s comment) and is this what should be done if others are outside the family of God?

Then this control thing! Reading all the above I am not sure I understand about control. Are we mixing control with how to get along in proper relationships? Are we having a little success in some area of our lives, or find a mentor that flatters our sin, and then we develop a prideful sense of independence?

We have to have someway to measure our godliness, success approved by The Holy Spirit. And, the only way I can think of is where are the tropies we are going to lay down in exchange for some crowns?
“So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
    Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown. ” http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/o/r/oruggedc.htm

And, in the above blog, Bono, giving and working on behalf of HIV positive children does not produce income for him, but requires his income from his music career to give. Are we mixing up our career for pay for giving our spiritual gifts to the body of Christ?

Looks like Moses and his ‘taking off in sandals’ in the presence of a Holy God is more than my dropping my shoes at the door so I can sit in a big chair and watch TV.

  27. Being controlled by the Holy Spirit and by one’s own spirit submitted to Holy Spirit is the kind of control we would desire to be under. Persons who control others and certain situations by exerting emotional pressure on them, controlling another person by threatening a temper tantrum or hissy fit, (little children do this…big ones, too) pouting, withdrawing affection, retaliation, etc. are the ways some people control others.
This happened in a reheasal class, just today. One little child refused to work with the team and would not accept any of their ideas. The child sat pouting as the others worked out the process, encouraging the child to join them, asking and sharing input. The child refused to include any of their ideas with ones that he/she had and sat and pouted OUT LOUD without emitting a sound!! So the members finally relented and asked , again, for the dissenting member’s ideas and were prepared to incorporate them and said so. The pouter in the end had nothing to offer but had expertly interrupted the session and very little was accomplished as far as their project was conerned . The contoller had triumphed. Unfortunately ,this is a pattern with this particular child and although the project was hindered, the other team members did learn from this experience.
Next steps: the intervention and the rescue!

  28. I have thought that you would not be controlled if you…Take responsibility for what goes on inside your heart and your mind. In the words of Marcus Aurelius, “Each man must learn to live within the citadel of himself.”

  29. Needles, don’t you think God may have asked Moses to take off his dirty work sandals because his work shoes were not an appropriate foot wear for the new work he was going to be given. Go and stand before the Pharaoh may call for a different look in dress and accessory.

Many times some of us don’t always know the proper attire with proper accessories to wear to deliver a message for God Almighty. Just this week ‘The Pope’ left the Vatican and visited the power halls of Washington DC and he wore RUBY RED loafers, with a robe of white. What a power statement. “Traditionally, in the Catholic Church, the color red commemorates the blood of martyrdom … Fire and red are identified with the Holy Spirit,” Cunnigham

I noticed Sara could not stop looking and listening to the ‘Dali Lama, also visited the states this week. He was dressed in his holy robe and wearing her watch of choice on his writs. Yes, a Rolex!

The internet and news commentators were busy this week explaining ‘the glory of all the festive wear by world religious leaders.’ The Pope and The Dali Lama.

Sara sure got it right in this blog just days before the outbreak of holy robes, shoes and head dress, and watches in her blog, “what accessories are you wearing? ” The Pope and Dali Lama were well received with their message of hope and other related world issues.

“work sandals or ruby red slippers!”

  30. Amen Gary. I have had a wonderful spiritual week watching and listening to the Pope, and the Dali Lama. Ruby Red Loafers and Rolex watch. WOW, I loved it all. Also, having my son return from Bhutan visiting tiger’s nest monastery and other religious temples in India. Google tiger’s nest bhutan and have a visit.

“a knowing of promises, creative ideas for communication and fellowships. The church is experiencing great favor from the Creator of design.” from this blog. I believe this with all my heart. We can stay focused on our little problems and people in our lives that tell us they are as big as Tiger’s Nest mountain! Or we can focus of God, the creator of heaven and earth. I love wearing hats and this year I got out some of my old ones and now i getting some new ones. I want to look upward to the Creator of Heaven and Earth and forget about these ugly fleshly ‘man spirits’ that act like a tiger but are only a wuss.

Sometimes I listen to our conversations and God must be thinking I only created one man and he is not worth much. Gee, Church, rise up! Isaiah 60:1
“ARISE [from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you–rise to a new life]! Shine (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you!” Now stop talking about the ‘wuss’ in your life and if it is you stop talking about you and rise from your depression to the new life God promised you.

  31. Amen and amen. It seems if some of us stop talking about ourselves we would be mute. (Might be a good idea for a while) I felt the Lord ask me in my spirit this morning…..’don’t you think I can handle this thing, or that thing, situation?’ Egads & little fishes…..like Sara said….”the GOD of the universe!!!!!” What dunderheads we are if we think He can’t work through any mission He calls us to or puts in our path.
Gary…good ovservations about religious authorities & their “vestments”.
Let us take off the old man as Needles intimates and put on the ruby slippers that, like Dorothy in THE WIZARD OF OZ…that will take us to Heaven.
For truly, there’s no place like our Heavenly Home.”

  32. My watch says its time to have clarity of mind.
“Clarity of mind means clarity of passion, too; this is why a great and clear mind loves ardently and sees distinctly what it loves.” Blaise Pascal- French mathematician, physicist (1623 – 1662)

I think clarity of mind means and shows- properly dressed with all the right accessories, colors and schemes for the season and occasion.

An Example of mental clarity in my mind: Constructive Communication is a diamond ring to mental/emotional clarity. Constructive means expressing emotions in a way that does not harm the person they are expressed to. For example, saying “I am angry”, to someone is different than acting out the anger. The Word of God says, “Be angry but sin not.” Also, “take every thought captive.” I can express my angry and began to detox my mind and emotions. I can take wrong thoughts that lead to wrong behavior and cause those thoughts to submit to me, if I have clarity in my mind. Which really is love and not fear.

God has made a clear way/path for us and The Holy Spirit is always available to walk us through the process at the direction of Jesus Christ and His love for all of us. It is all about His Love for the world….ME, the Pope, the Dali Lama, the orphans, Bono’s and his love for the children of Africa. Wear the eye glasses of Jesus and you will see more clearly and have the latest fashion and design in eye wear.

  33. Yes was a wonderful explanation of clarity of mind. I was rereading in Luke 8 about Planting Seed and I kept thinking all week about what Pastor Gary said about feeling comfortable in your own skin. As I had shingles this last week I thought I really really wasn’t too comfortable in my own skin. Then I rethought the Planting Seed story. This could very well be the field of our mind. How often to we tread a path and even if God tried plant in us an idea or gift, the path would so hard we are on that it can not take root. How about the rocky soil of our minds – things we have not caste aside. Stuff, stuff, stuff, not of God which we had not dealt with. What happens to the WORD, the good word, the gift, the word of encouragement there may be a springing up but no root or continued growth. But then the idea, gift, WORD from God goes to the fertile soil. Soil that has been broken up, turned until there is nothing to obstruct – in other words ready to receive, ready to connect with the Word. Nothing in that fertile field is causing a dis focus for all that has been weeded out, ripped out and the soil is aware of the enemies plantings and rips them out to maintain focus and growth of what the LOVING WORD of God brings to the person. YES a field of love, paid by the LOVE of Jesus. A field dressed in the glory of Jesus.

  34. I read in Isaiah 63:10 that before a highway of holiness can be prepared the rocks have to be removed. Rena talks about soil prepartaion. A rock, a hindrance, a stumbling block in our hearts or lives has to be removed or put off or out to make way for good seeds and plants to be put in. The rock and the plant can’t live in the same hole. It’s one or the other. I agree with the above comments..the wrong accessory has to be put off so the right one can be put on

  35. I agree with Gary. How have you applied this to your life? I am a pretty good farmer but planting grass seeds and changing my emotions, passions, mind, etc.as well as building my marriage and raising godly children calls for a different set of actions. Quoting scriptures probably won’t do it either.
    What about sharing life experiences.
Have you raised godly kids, if so, how did you do this?
Have you built a stronger marriage, if so, how did you apply scriptures and what were the results that you and your spouse could counsel us on?

If I said I had a headache I would probably get way too many ways to get rid of my headache. But, reading this blog and wanting to make my life more useful in every way like Bono, leaves me without many answers. I do own a Bible and I read it as well. I own a suit of clothing and when I need to wear a tie I seek others to give their opinion if my tie matches, looks good for the occasion. I expect them to know and to tell me.

I guess I want to hear from Bono and others that find joy in everyday life. I understood Sara’s example don’t act like a fool when angry but express it in words that will not do others harm but help me to defuse by recognizing I am angry, why and deal with it in the right way. My interpretation.

    What is your Bono story?

  36. Well, Wallace…you have presented us with a godly dilemma. In order to lend the biblical lessons of our life experiences, we must first admit we had or do have a problem to begin with. And THEN, the solution or NOT that was reached…how we applied the Scriptures and godly counsel we recieved to win the victory over the “problem”. Not many of us are willing to put ourselves on the line and “fess up” this flaw or that faux pas or this blooper or worse yet, a truly serious problem in our own lives, family or profession, whatever that may be, in the first place. Is it pride or ego? I would think so. There is a quote in my Amp. Bible by Matthew Henry that says, “the improving (making better, change for better, restoration acheived) of a victory is more honorable and of more consequence than the mere winning of it.”
What we learn from a victory is important but as Christians what we can share and minister to others from these experiences is paramount.
If we have not had these experiences, it would be futile to minister to another in that situation because it would be like the blind leading the blind. Both would fall into the ditch.
However, those who have gone through a particular situation or circumstance and has won the victory or can share important revelations that they have received through that exercise, do a great service to the saints of God in the Body Of Christ, in sharing their testimonies with those who are suffering through these similar episodes.
Are we willing to do that?

  37. Good question Gary. What I wrote was an observation.

And Wallace, as a ‘pretty good farmer’, you also have some real ‘down to earth insights and questions and I thank you for sharing them and your heart and hope that many will be able to write helpful life experiences.

I’d like to share a real-life story involving plants. As a high school horticulture teacher I schedule plant sales and other related events to help support the program. Although I love working with plants and the students it takes lots of time, planning and work to have successful events. A few years ago we had a group from the senior center come to help transplant. I wasn’t actively seeking volunteers to help with the work load, etc. I was not thinking inclusively about others or seeking to incorporate others into the program. Guess I thought “I” could handle it alone. Sara helped me to see this and I then saw how prideful or selfish that was and began to take some steps to correct it. (rock out of my heart, head). I have since been blessed with some wonderful volunteers as well as other staff who give their time, energy and counsel to me and the students.
Now interestingly, a few weeks ago a lady came with the group of senior citizens to the greenhouse who stayed sitting and transplanting after the rest of the group left to board the bus. She indicated that she drove so could stay longer. She asked if we needed help any other day of the week. I told her we sure did and she said she could come back to help the next day. Upon returning the next day she expressed concern that she may not be helping much or doing things just right. Quite the opposite I assured her…she was obviously very skilled in her gardening techniques as well as her knowledge and the students who were very appreciative of her admitted they couldn’t even keep pace with her! As that lovely 76 year old Christian lady walked out leaning on her cane that day she spoke smiling through tears…”You’ll never know how much this means to me…God has a way of answering prayer.” She related how she was an avid quilter and had been an avid gardener also who loved to work with her hands and down on her knees. She had asked the Lord that she could continue to work with both and when her knees went bad she was pretty devastated and prayed to the Lord about it. She said He answered her not by healing her knees but by giving her this greenhouse to work in where she didn’t need to be on her knees to dig in the dirt. She could sit on a stool or stand and still ‘garden’. She is coming faithfully every day she can, helping in the greenhouse and sharing her years of life wisdom with several students who have really bonded with her. The commonality of plants and gardening provides an opportunity to see the Lord bring healing and joy to many.

  38. Needles, thought this quote from Travel Light -Glenn Clark, My Daily Insights would say what I need to take off. WOW. we could save lots of $ on fuel and avoid the Jet plane…..
“If you wish to travel far and fast, travel light. Take off your envies, jealousies, unforgiveness, selfishness and fears.”

  39. Just read this from Max Lucado “Traveling Light” “You have a God who hears you, the power of love behind you, the Holy Spirit within you, and all of heaven ahead of you.

Maybe those old work sandals of Moses was just to heavy to travel around with.

I am so very grateful this morning that I do in fact have a God that hears me when I discuss my daily travels with Him. He sure knows how to set up a travel itinerary for me and take me right through security and on to victory as I walk out my daily plans. He will help you with your itinerary as well if you need help and ask Him.

  40. Thanks for these thoughts Sara. And thanks for taking much time yesterday to help me see and face a dead weight I need to take off…obstinacy. I remembered today that my mother would say to me when I was younger and there was something I really needed to do and just wasn’t doing it but thinking about it, brooding over it, examining it and just making excuses…”stop being hard-headed and obstinate, just do it”.

  41. Needles you always ask questions that get people to really thinking especially me……you asked what must we be taking off in order to be adorned with godliness?….unhealthy-self-love……and I love the way Sara s’ response says “take off YOUR envies, jealousies, unforgivensess, and selfishness and fears………thats SELF to me….so to me in order to be adorned with godliness….self has to go…yep…its self…..thats got to go…if you think of self …well..theres no room for putting on anything else…..but when you reach out with a heart thats pure to help someone else I believe you start to get adorned with Gods Love…….right?…dj

  42. Just to add to my response above ….I had to put off self love before I could even love the authentic me and then when I did with help from the teachings from the retreat Dance of healing….I recieved true love and so this is why I say theres no room for anything else until self is gone…well no room for godly adornment anyway…..dj

  43. how to do it….you listen to the counsel given and apply it…walk it out and be deligent and obedient even if it hurts…..dj

  44. And HURT it does!! It bruises our great egos! It wounds our “ids”. It cuts to the quick of our pride. It smashes our little “self idols” into shards. it humiliates our vanity. It strikes a blow against our selfishness.
It derails our SELF-preservation. Obedience is the great equalizer.
JESUS was obedient. The SON OF GOD, GOD in the flesh was obedient UNTO DEATH. What is OUR problem?

  45. In response to Needles question, What must we take off? As far as myself I think I have to take off stress and fear. One seems to go hand and hand with the other. Also I have to put off thinking that someone’s death or life is dependent upon me. I can’t work harder to save someone’s life. I can’t determine in my mind what would work for the good of the person to prolong their life. Jesus is in charge of life’s time clock and miracles, not me. What a de stresser. This of course doesn’t mean I’m not kind, caring, helpful. it just means I don’t internalize to an unhealthy state, putting their whole life as my responsibility. I just pray, be there, and leave them in God’s hands.

  46. Wow, thanks for your responses to the question. I sure do have a lot of work to do. I think I may be able to travel “LIGHT”, if I take all of the above things mentioned…..off! Especially, that “SELF” thing……THANKS, DJ!

  47. It would seem that when we take off that ‘self’ thing we will be able to love as Dj shared and will be able to fulfill that first and great commandment that Jesus gave us “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind.” (Matt 22:37). Another step towards a healthy mind that is being discussed on the ‘Happy Mind’ quote blog.

  48. Debi, let me see if I understand your spring fashions and accessories. 1) you have gained a happy volunteer in your school work 2) it was in part because a community group brought her to your school for an outing 3)you had prepared and done your homework well 4) you have hope of making a good friend

Now, it that the way Jesus taught us to live and move and have our being? If so, we should all be able to have new bright right accessories to decorate His Kingdom. Thanks for the lesson on how to” win friends and influence people.” I think Dr. Peale said it first.
