Jettison; but what

January 20, 2009- President Barack Obama made some startling picturesque remarks in his inaugurate speech.
“For we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus – and non-believers. We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this Earth; and because we have tasted the bitter swill of civil war and segregation, and emerged from that dark chapter stronger and more united, we cannot help but believe that the old hatreds shall someday pass; that the lines of tribe shall soon dissolve; that as the world grows smaller, our common humanity shall reveal itself; and that America must play its role in ushering in a new era of peace.”

What heart-rending remarks the above is? “America must play its role in ushering in a new era of peace. Old Hatreds pass? Patchwork Heritage?

I agree with Mr. President’s remarks. I believe every divine word that gives way to divine plan that we need to do this is found in The Word of God, The Bible. Therefore, with my believing this and others believing the divine way is not in The Bible, we have already drawn lines that will not dissolve without a meeting of the minds on the mind of God. Most likely, most will believe the Truth and Way is there, but now how to agree.

So, we grab our patchwork heritage and see it’s strength. Yes, this too is found among the divine words of God. “Love one another as I have loved you.” Love and Obedience to God is the strength of this patchwork. Try the Ten Commands. Love God and obey God! And, then the beatitudes, blessed are the peacemakers. Who is the leader and giver of peace? Jesus is the Prince of Peace. “People from every end of the earth.” O yes, without a doubt. God loved us all so much that He gave a divine plan for Mr. Obama’s plan. He gave His son, Jesus, for the bail out of our sins. Without a doubt we need a stimulus package to stimulate our economy. We need money to buy some eye-salve, refined gold, and white clothes. Revelation 3:18 say, “I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.

Why? How? This Letter to Laodicea has the reason and cause. Jesus says, “I have been watching your (misuse of resources) and I see you are neither cold nor hot. I correct and punish everyone I love. So make up your minds to turn away from your sins. Listen! I am standing and knocking at your door. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and we will eat together.” And, let me hammer this truth in a little further, “…you don’t know how bad off you are. You are pitiful, poor, blind, and naked.”

Mr. President, we have a major problem seeing eye to eye. You, Mr. Obama and the Democrats have a stimulus package that has drawn lines between two parties giving rise to eyeball-to-eyeball contact sport. The lines in this bail out is fall out. I believe we are in the process of correction by God, which may be a good thing. Now, the punishing part just may be another issue. Jesus loves all of us. We are His patchwork. He wants us to have peace and He is our Peace. “America must play its role in ushering in a new era of peace.” Amen, Brother Obama! He (Peace) is coming to earth again! So, what are we jettisoning? I believe peace that appears as an angel of light. Throw him (the one that appears as an angel of light) overboard and sail on home as The Old Lighthouse guides us safely. Let us find peace way to work together across the lines of divide.

John 14:27 (CEV) I give you peace, the kind of peace that only I can give. It isn’t like the peace that this world can give. So don’t be worried or afraid.

  1. Jesus said, “I Am the Way, the Truth, the Life. No one, but nobody comes to the Father but (only by and through) ME.” If there were other patchwork designs that could bring men into the presence of Abba Father, then Jesus would not have had to die on the cross. He would not have had to shed His blood. But there was not a Plan B or a plan C but only …..”PLAN A’, that had been designed before the beginning of time and covenanted with the SON OF GOD, that Christ would die for EVERY MAN on the earth and every nation, tribe and tongue, and make a way for peace with the Father God. Colossians says, “Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with one another and in step with each other.” Is there any OTHER WAY to attain peace; any Other way to kill off hatred and prejudice; any Other way to see God?
Diplomacy? maybe! But when one’s religious views transcend diplomacy, man made convenants, international peace treaties and the like it just doesn’t seem to hold, does it? The answer my friend is blowing in the Wind of the Holy Spirit. Answer the door, my fellow Americans while the Master is still knocking, before it’s too late. Look through the lattice. it’s Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace.

  2. This is an excellent blog and a trumpet of truth for this hour. It shows us clearly the stability and security we can have if we invest and buy into God’s economy. We are deluded and will be eternally sorrowful if we think we will find peace any other way. That word peace is used in such a broad definition, like an interstate highway. It reminds me of this scripture:
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life and only a few find it.”Matt 7:13-14
That broad way is like a big trap door. You think your standing on solid ground until suddenly it opens and into a fallout right into hell you go.
We do need the bailout you speak of Sara, the one only Jesus paid the bail for.

  3. Yes, we do Debi. But, there is a way for peace on earth and help for the economy and hope for the daily lives of its people. We just daily need to search The Word to find it. And, put our vote and money where it counts and will make a profit..

  4. I beleive you, Sara. And I believe that if all who read this blog and your comment will believe and follow this Divine prescription and not just dismiss it or take it lightly, that we will see the change as well as the currency. And we will see Peace, the ‘peace that passes all understanding but keeps our hearts and minds stayed on the Lord Jesus.’ (Phil 4:7)

  5. Our nation is a patchwork quilt of nations! A quilt of squares each to represent the culture, beliefs, hopes, fears of each nation. Every square standing before the king. Is there strife, jealousy, greed, envy, and anger that rip at the seams seemingly tear the United States apart or is there a glue that binds us together causing each nation within this nation to aspire to be a melting pot which dispenses out peace and goodwill to all nations. Who’s hand controls the quilt – the minds of the nations? Is our glue from God? Are we purpose driven, setting our hearts on being obedient to his WORD? The glue that units us , is it made by human hands or is it made of Godly hearts, obedient hearts, and prayers. The scripture says:2 Chronicles 7:13, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” May we lift up this quilt to you Lord and may you oh Lord look down upon it and heal it in all the areas that need deep healing to cause a nation to be united and not divided, sewn together and not ripped apart.

  6. One thing I think we could jettison is un-forgiveness. Throw it overboard by forgiving. Forgiving is love in action. I am sure it will take a lot of forgiving to cross tribal lines and culture lines but we are to forgive and love one another.

Poverty is another. Ban it by giving.

I am sure we will come up with many things to jettison.

  7. “our common humanity shall reveal itself”..share a skill with others. Needle work, song, dance, computer and other things that are of interest to you and them.

Train ourselves and teach our children how to and to overcome evil with good.
Romans 12:21″ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Jettison the evil by doing good.

  8. That’s good, Sara! Jettison unforgiveness by Forgiving. Jettison selfishness by considering others, first. Jettison gossip by sealing our lips when the rumors are flying. Jettison foolish talking and jesting by speaking only the Words The Holy Spirit gives in a situation. A German proverb says, “Avarice hoards itself poor but charity gives itself rich.”
Jesus said he would jettison (SPEW, SPIT, VOMIT) us out of His mouth if He returns to find us fence-sitting and luke warm. Jettison rejection by the Lord when He returns by being on fire, burning with zeal for the Lord from our hearts.

  9. Sounds like jettisoning these negatives will lighten our own ship so we can safely reach the shore, guided by the Lighthouse Sara spoke of. Since He is coming again we jettison spots and wrinkles of self…”He must increase, but I must decrease.” John 3:30

  10. In my Bible studies this am I was reminded that Paul warns us. … that we if don’t forgive, Satan has outwitted us and a root of bitterness begins to grow,” (II Corinthians 2:10-11, Hebrews 12:15)

  11. There is a lot of depth to reflect upon in this blog. As I re-read “….we have already drawn lines that will not dissolve without a meeting of the minds on the mind of God, ” I was thinking how is this achieved? We are told in Phillipians 2:1-4 to be like-minded. ” If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

  12. Read with me: Genesis 6:3 “Then the Lord said, ‘My Spirit will not put up with humans for such a long time, for they are only mortal flesh. In the future, their normal lifespan will be no more than 120 years.” Read with me the footnotes for this verse: ” ‘Their normal lifespan will be no more than 120 years’ has been interpreted by some commentators to mean that God was allowing the people of Noah’s day 120 years to change their sinful ways. God shows his great patience with us as well. He is giving us time to quit living our way and begin living His way, the way He shows us in His Word. While 120 years seems like a long time, eventually the time ran out, and the floodwaters swept across the earth. Your time also may be running out. Turn to God to forgive your sins. You can’t see the stopwatch of God’s patience, and there is no bargaining for additional time.”
I believe Rena used an appropriate scripture, here, for America! (2Chronicles 7:14) Just as in Noah’s day, the time did run out for those who refused to obey God, and time will run out for us too! John 14:1-4 God promises to return for us. Hebrews 9:27-28: “And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment, so also Christ died once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for Him.” Lord, please forgive us. Help us as a nation, to remember what John said, as Debi mentioned: “He must increase, but I must decrease”. Lord, remind us of the many things that MG and Sara mentioned, that we need to be jettisoning. Help our President, and our leaders to remember to seek You first, in all that they say and do. In Jesus name, Amen.

  13. Thank you Needles and others for prayers for our Nation. I believe God hears our prayers.

“So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold-though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.” (I Peter 1:6-7, NLT)

  14. Needles you have so skillfully woven the thoughts, comments and prayers from above into the pathwork that Sara writes of. And Sara’s scripture waters and fertilizes this garden with vision and encouragment. Thank you.
