“To the weak I became weak, so that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that I might by all means save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, so that I may share in its blessings.” 1 Corinthians 9:22-23,
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.” (Romans 12:2, NLT)
Now let me get my daily notes in order with your help, become weak when I see weak …and, I might win some to my way of thinking? And, I get a big reward! Right or wrong? If, right, how?
But, nevertheless, whatsoever, don’t copy the behavior and customs of the world…change my way of thinking and God will transform me into a new person. What will I look like? A) My spiritual gift will be a Star with a brilliant light to help guide the weak to a safe haven? B) Make sure my ego and charisma lets them know I know what God wants or what God is doing in their life. C) sit and rock and do nothing D) Other——.
Sara, I choose “” a) answer””which reads, “My spiritual gift will be a STAR with a brilliant light to help guide the weak to a safe haven.” Jesus did that, you know. He, Who made the universe, had all power, glory, strength, became weak in His humanity, even unto death, and is now ‘drawing ALL ‘men’ unto Himself’…because when He was weak on the Cross, He became strong when He burst out of the tomb on resurrection Sunday.
So I think, ‘by George’, you got it! 1 Cor. 13 says, ‘Love is never arrogant or boastful….wants its own way or brags of its spiritual superiority. So that can’t be the answer.
Our compassion should constrain us….that is a ‘weakness’ toward another’s suffering….that even makes me weep, should I even have had the tears to do so. That is would reduce us to tears of compassion and empathy.
We know we cannot heal or mend a soul on our own strength BUT GOD!!!! with our intercession and pleading our cases before the Father and Jesus…. as a famous preacher exhorts. Then…..will He make us strong!!
I want to be a shining STAR like you say, above.
MG, I think you deserve an A+ for your correct choice answer. As you quote the famous preacher, “then He will make us strong.” I think his comment covers the B of our Roman’s verse. “Change your mind about things and God will transform you….” that is make you good and strong. Better than Elmers glue.
I also choose a) as stated above. This morning I was walking my dog and I thought my what a hard job for those who minister to others one on one. Lots of prayer is surely needed and God’s whispers as to how to minister. Each individual He has made so unique and each indivdual has gone on a journey that is theirs alone. Only God could get inside and know how to draw man unto Him to receive the peace that He has to offer. Gently, tenderly, and sometimes forcefully the ministering person weaves within the person hope that they are so much in need of, a hope that is ever lasting. God must look down and say be careful how you weave for this one needs something different from others you have ministered to. Say this or that so that HOPE In JESUS is the end result. How deftly have I seen you do that in my life and lives of others. A scarlet cord weaving all the loose ends together to showcase a soul Jesus knew that you with His Help could mend and transform into who He called from the beginning of time. Sara and you thought you weren’t a crafter – you have a higher call in the field of crafting. One who is called to mend for eternity sake.
I wish that I would be like that I thought as I walked. It takes a fine tuned mind, spirit, and soul to God’s WORDS which comes in whispers in the night sometimes, and sometimes WORDS from His scriptures, and sometimes words spoken as you step out with your hook to weave.
Rena, I like the way you interpreted the scripture verse from 1 Corinthians 9…As you give illustration of weaver with the attest that you have experience the weavers loom be sure to take a careful view of the front view which comes from part B of verse. “So I might share in its blessings.” Now, that’s power!
“Now let me get my daily notes in order with your help, become weak when I see weak …and, I might win some to my way of thinking? And, I get a big reward! Right or wrong? If, right, how? ”
I think this could be right or wrong. Wrong, if the following has not occurred: “but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.” And first we would have to realize this truth from Isaiah 55:8-9: “I (this is God speaking) don’t think the way you think. The way you work isn’t the way I work.”
Right, if this transformation has occurred and the ‘mind of Christ’ is actually doing the thinking. Because if it is, then we would be able to”find common ground (another translations way of saying become all things to all people) with everyone, doing everything I can to save some.” And if our way of thinking is God’s way and the weak are won to Him, then one big reward would be a crown of rejoicing.
God gives us a command in Mark 9:7: “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!”
