You are the picture

When we start a new year we often have new thoughts, new hopes and new dreams. Yet, time and time again the walkway seems unlite, cracked and often times not even there.  We read, pray, toss and turn to no avail to see the way. I have found the haunting field glasses of Hebrews 12:1,2 to give me an awareness that eyes are upon me and beckons me to walk forward by faith. “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

I am a great admirer of C.S.  Lewis and see him as one of those witnesses that surround me with great cheers to keep running toward my goals.  I would like to share my friends words!

“The great thing to remember is that though our feelings come and go God’s love for us does not.” ― C.S. Lewis

“Remember He is the artist and you are only the picture. You can’t see it. So quietly submit to be painted—i.e., keep fulfilling all the obvious duties of your station (you really know quite well enough what they are!), asking forgiveness for each failure and then leaving it alone. You are in the right way. Walk—don’t keep on looking at it.” ―The Collected Letters of C. S. Lewis, Volume lll: Narnia, Cambridge, and Joy 1950-1963

  1. Sara, what encouraging words from you and your ”friend” C S. It is our God Full of mercy and compassion for us, His creatures, that gives us a new start, a new year to run,and walk… invigorated by His Word….His Forgiveness for the sins that so easily beset us….when we come to Him to be washed by the precious blood of the Lamb. A new start…..a new year…yes!!. but the same race, the same “pathway” as you mentioned above, toward fulfilling our destiny, There is only one way….that is His way.
How beautiful are the feet of those who declare the good news that Jesus has made a narrow path, but a sure path to the Father.,….and He is the Gate.
Happy are those who enter in……

  2. Sara, this scripture came to mind, reading this blog: Philippians 3: 12-14 “12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

    What do you think?

    1. YAY!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 What do I think? YAY! yAY! 🎉🎉🎉I think🕯🕯🕯🕯 I like to think on truth which you have spoken of and is the hope of our calling. That I can learn, change, grow, enjoy and be happy and fulfill goals in the new year.

This is the part that sometimes hangs a noose around our neck in my way of thinking: “Let the evildoer still do evil, and the filthy still be filthy, and the righteous still do right, and the holy still be holy.” Rev 22:11. Guess God is saying we don’t control others because each one controls their own destiny when it comes to choices.. Vs 12) “Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”

The Word says, let it go! And, that is literally the point, let it, them and they do as they wish and we do likewise. Hard to press on forward with bricks around our necks or slung on our backs. Paul must have understood the writer of Hebrews to lay to the side all those weighs and get on with your show! Hey, Tammy, what do you think? 💉🤔💔💞 YAY⁉️

      1. Sara, I think you given some wise words here: “I think🕯🕯🕯🕯 I like to think on truth which you have spoken of and is the hope of our calling. That I can learn, change, grow, enjoy and be happy and fulfill goals in the new year.”

  3. Thinking on this blog and its meaning as well as the quotes by C.S. Lewis, particularly this one: “Remember He is the artist and you are only the picture”… I felt to go back and do some studying this am in Sara’s book, “Dressing for His Glory, On Pursuing Excellence”. Stopping to do some review in “Lesson 3: Image: The Beauty of Jesus”, I was reminded something about God’s ‘picture’ of me. The lesson objective was: “To imprint God’s Beauty in My Spirit by 1. Seeing His beauty 2. Knowing His desire for mw and 3. Expressing my desire for Him. Reading on regarding this ‘image’, we were asked a question, “What was Paul’s perspective on image, according to Philippians 3:12-14? ;and also Sara’s lesson provided us with a definition of ‘press’: “to follow after, to pursue.”

I thought this also tied in to what Tammy quoted: Philippians 3:12-14 and then asked, “What do you think?”
