  1. What a beautiful flower in that picture, Sara. The different shades and form really illustrate the awesomeness of the scripture you gave us. It made me think about how just one characteristic of God, His breath, can do so much. I went on a search to see what other things His breath can do and found a few below.

    “And the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding.” Job 32:8
    “By His breath the heavens are cleared.” Job 26:13
    “Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming;” 2 Thess. 2:8
    “And with the breath of His lips He will slay the wicked.” Isaiah 11:4

  2. Debi I love your comment and scriptures, and I would like to give scriptures I believe go before yours..

    The Breath
    In Genesis 2:27 we learn that the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living creature.
    Through disobedience of Adam in the Garden we read in Roman’s 5: 12-13 Adam sinned, and that brought death into the world. (Breathe taken away.). Now everyone has sinned, and so everyone must die. ( Breathe taken away.). Psalm 38: 5 Behold you have made my days a few Hand breaths , and my lifetime is as nothing before you. surely all mankind stands as a mere breath. 1 Peter 1: 24. For all flesh is like grass and all it’s glory like the flowers of grass. The grass withers and the flower falls. Psalm 144: 4. Man is like breath; his days are like a passing shadow.

    Is there no hope.
    John 3:16
    For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

    John 14: 6. Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life (breath). No one comes to the Father except through me.

    Romans 5: 18
    Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life (breath) for everyone.

  3. Thanks for sharing the scriptures, Rena. They sure do show how fleeting this earth life is.

    And Sara, when you said, “Job 26:13 has my mind on pause!” …that made me want to go back and think about what it might mean to have the “heavens cleared.”
    Somehow it made me think about 2 Peter 3:10 where the heavens will one day just pass away/disappear; and apparently its elements just dissolve…like watching a cloudy solution of salt or sugar or baking soda in water turn absolutely clear when it is stirred.
    And then I read in Revelation 2:1 “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared”

    1. Debi I was just sky gazing and thinking I wish the clouds would go away and let the sun delight by plant so I would have more flowers. Then I thought I can’t do one thing about those clouds but just an exhale from the Almighty could clear the clouds.

      Any angle we go in thoughts of this verse we are studying will show just how Almighty the Almighty is.

  4. Rena gives scriptures about dying which made me think about Paul and his daily living.
    “I face death every day–yes, just as surely as I boast about you in Christ Jesus our Lord.” I Corinth 15:31

    The spirit of God has made me,
    and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.
    —Job 33:4, NRSV

    I find myself often in my daily duties breathing in and exhaling slowly to remind myself the breath of the Almighty God is the essence of each breath I breathe. What an energizing truth to monitor my steps, words and actions.

  5. I had dental appt this morning and while I relaxed and made my choice on what to think about I opted for our study verse, “The spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life. —Job 33:4, NRSV

    I thought about our comments and just how vastly different we all are even with the same Spirit and breathe pulsating our hearts. I said to myself Rena wants to give the plan of salvation to start the basic steps to spiritual life. And, guess her gift? Got it, teaching children. Debi wants to let us know there is an end in sight and newness begins. Guess what? She teaches High School! And me, I want us all to live like a wind blown feather.

    Then I had personal conversation with Dentist and hygienist and left happy. And, driving home I thought about my communication, Yeap feathers flying everywhere waiting in a joy ride for a landing. I remember the hygienist said, we just can’t do a thing until The Spirit decides the time.

    I love celebrating differences in gifts and how they operate thru each one to build the body of Christ.

      I had been thinking this afternoon on your pm comment, …”Any angle we go in thoughts of this verse we are studying will show just how Almighty the Almighty is.” The hygienist comment, “we just can’t do a thing until The Spirit decides the time.” sure seems to confirm that.

      1. Debi, isn’t that wonderful news that the Spirit knows and understands times, timing and never needs a wind, battery, plug or reset. He’s always in sync with the desire, need or deed.

    2. On my comment above, “ I want us all to live like a wind blown feather.” My thoughts come from one of my very favorite scriptures….
      “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” John 3:8

  7. I’ve still been thinking on Sara’s comment, “Any angle we go in thoughts of this verse we are studying will show just how Almighty the Almighty is.”

    A verse from my am Psalm devotional 115:3, helped me take another look at His Almightiness: “Our God is in the heavens, and he does as he wishes.”
