This song came to mind after reading this blog. I listened to it, but don’t know how to share what I listened to, so I will share the lyrics. “ I Need Thee Every Hour

I need Thee every hour,
Most gracious Lord;
No tender voice like Thine,
Can peace afford.
I need Thee, O I need Thee,
Every hour I need Thee!
O bless me now, Savior,
I come to Thee.
I need Thee every hour,
Stay Thou near by;
Temptations lose their power,
When Thou art nigh.
I need Thee, O I need Thee;
Every hour I need Thee!
O bless me now, my Savior,
I come to Thee.
I need Thee every hour,
In joy or pain;
Come quickly and abide,
Or life is vain.
I need Thee, O I need Thee;
Every hour I need Thee!
O bless me now, my Savior,
I come to Thee.“
“I Need thee every hour” gives hope to the day, fuel for energy, and wear attire for each occasion! Great connect Tammy. The words of this “perfect though” hymn in action reminds me of an old Victrola Record Player that needle grooves the ruts of the mind.
The writer, Annie Hawks (May 28, 1836 – January 3, 1918) was an American poet and gospel hymnist…Hawks stated:— “For myself, the hymn was prophetic rather than expressive of my own experiences,… for it was wafted out to the world on the wings of love and joy, instead of under the stress of personal sorrow. She was never graduated from any school, but she always had a passion for books and read widely. By age 14, she was submitting poems to a local newspaper…”
My perfect thought don’t leave faith and trust home in a dresser drawer as use for a rainy day. Take His Blessings within as the writer says, ”Bless me now…”
Debi, thanks for the research giving us a catalogue of evil awareness. I placed in my notes to remind me to read and beware. Your titles are scary enough, evil tongue and evil heart….I’m getting Hawkins’ point, the need is there before I might know it so insurance my soul with the words from her song.
“It is good to know that “Temptations lose their power, When Thou art nigh.”I agree Debi. Woe…… that sure is a long list of “evil” you researched Debi!😳 Thanks for sharing, it’s a list I need to keep, and pray I stay in line with God’s Word.🙏
Tammy, I would agree with you that “She may not have graduated from school, but would you agree that she was a wise woman?”.
I think she fits this description from Proverbs 8:11, 12: “For wisdom is far more valuable than rubies. Nothing you desire can compare with it. “I, Wisdom, live together with good judgment. I know where to discover knowledge and discernment. All who fear the LORD will hate evil.”
And I also agree with you regarding evil…“it’s a list I need to keep, and pray I stay in line with God’s Word.🙏”.
I think Annie Hawks, the wise woman, must have practiced awareness and avoidance of it.
Thank you Debi for your list for us to hold onto everyday. As Tammy says “about Debi’s list, …”keep and pray so I will stay in line with God’s word.” Sara says, “ I need not to put them in a dresser drawer..
These two scriptures I will add as they are warnings as the last chapter of the Bible is opened and played out before our eyes.
1Timothy 4: 1 …but the Spirit says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines.
2 Timothy 2: 3-4
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside myths.
Choice – choose evil or truth
May we stay close to the Way, the Truth, and the Life who is Jesus knowing “WE Need You (Jesus) Every Hour”
Here is another song I also play over and over with “I Need the Every Hour“ which is Through It All
By Andrae Crouch
Through it all,
Through it all,
I’ve learned to trust in Jesus,
I’ve learned to trust in God…….
Let the songs of I need the Every Hour and Through it All be our cloak as the winds blow and we stand upon the WORD of God.
I’m truly enjoying our sing along blog🎼🎶 Another perfect thought to know we still have music in minds, hearts and homes. I led Praise and Worship for over 20 years almost every Sunday and during week as well. I must say God was faithful to the work of praise and worship in song. I want to add my song following the ones we just sang. Our singer, Donnie Sumner, has an awesome testimony as he shares his life story in song. This was after his years of backup singer to Elvis.
Thanks for sharing those warning scriptures, Rena and song.
I would also like to join in with an ‘Amen’ to what you said, “May we stay close to the Way, the Truth, and the Life who is Jesus knowing “WE Need You (Jesus) Every Hour.”
Thank you, Sara, for leading us here on The Daily Lily in Praise and Worship as you shared this song by Donnie Sumner and allowed us to enter in. What a blessing.
Tammy, a note of encouragement for you. Some years ago when Donnie first gave his testimony after life with Elvis I gave my friend J&B his CD. I seem to remember it was a Saturday night and Ms B was cooking and Mr J and my husband and I were sitting by the stone in their sitting area in Kitchen. We played and had our worship time with The Anchor and one another.
I hold to this truth as our beloved J holds this truth in his song and heart.

Thanks for sharing the song, Tammy. We sure do need Him every hour! It is good to know that “Temptations lose their power, When Thou art nigh.”
As I was looking at scriptures about evil, I was reminded it comes in many ways and many forms. Here are a few I found:
Evil people. Psalm 140:8; 2 Tim. 3:13
Evil plans. Proverbs 15:26
Evil thoughts. Mark 7:21
The evil one. John 17:15, 2 Thess. 3:3
Evil desires. Romans 13:1, Col. 3:5
Evil days. Ephesians 5:16
Evil spirits. Acts 19:13
Evil suspicions. I Tim. 6:4
Evil tongue. Psalm 34:13
Evil heart. Proverbs 6:18
