So often I hear, “Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10, Lamentations 3:25–28 )
I have come to understand, Go quietly and know God’s peace may just be a gift in your silence.
Peace, be still! ( Matthew 8:26.)Jesus Christ speaks, and the wind ceases. After the fierce storm relents, a great calm descends.

Thank you for the beautiful photo, Sara. Beholding it is in itself is a gift of peace. Also your words, “Go quietly and know God’s peace may just be a gift in your silence.”
Thanks Debi, my photo of this mountain peak spoke volumes as I gazed upon its beauty.
And, the words I wrote flowing through my being have become my peace, “Go quietly and know God’s peace may just be a gift in your silence.”
If we pause and think God speaks in sacred spaces. Remember the words so often sung back to God after his voice was heard in the heart.
Steve Green, “ Oh Lord, You’re beautiful
Your face is all I seek
For when Your eyes are on this child
Your grace abounds to me
Oh Lord, You’re beautiful
Your face is all I seek
For when Your eyes are on this child
Your grace abounds to me”
Thanks for sharing. I love Keith Green. I used to listen to his music on cassette tapes I had, and loved hearing him sing 🎤 🎶 🎵✝️
A cassette tape awakens a time that was. It was like we couldn’t get enough of those little jewels. And, then a case to store them and a car with a player and nice speakers. They just seems to drop away when the new shiny CD appeared. Awe those were the days we might say. Yet, now we play the same music on our phones.
As I write these words other songs are emerging in my being that were on those tapes that had a way of becoming unraveled and silenced forever. Yeap trash can was its place.
Pause🆗Silence🆗Thought🆗 Yes, oh yes the music of, from the old cassette goes on in a sacred place, time and way that has potential to cover the earth.
I love this song but I love his story of confession. His new innocent child like heart was showing signs of old age and not the wisdom tattoo but the wrinkled old skin.
But, when Green spoke from his sacred place to The sacred space communication yes words became light. God spoke truth and truth still brings light and light brings words and Words change hearts and music sings over the wounded, hurt and wrinkled from non used hearts.
The whole world is in heartbreak with sickness and death knocking on doors in stress. A virus that is out of control has stopped the movement of humans from going on in their set ways.
Some like Steve Green stops and finds a space of silence and a gift from God is given. It’s not unraveled in Tammy’s cassette tapes or mine. But, the music goes on. The truth goes on. Each gift from God still lights the sky, the embers of earth Prevail and life abounds In fresh new ways.
I see light for today being lived out in real time that even surpasses my hand held devise, Rena’s flashlight, Tammy’s cassette and Debi’s new food garden.
Play the music softly for Jesus stands at your hearts door with a gently knock. (Revelation 4:20) Do you hear His voice saying if you allow me to come in we can dine by candlelight the beams from our hearts emit. The food will be life giving duties for your special gift I gave you that might be showing signs of aging. This food will be food you may not even know about. (John 4:27-52) A cure, a healing, a sewing machine for masks, clothes special made for a child. Awee just too numerous to know until He gives the gift. It’s a gift like unto the song God gave Steve Green where a cassette player, CD player does not control the Eternal embers of the music. The gift is in the ether and the Knock controls the entrance.
Come, be still, sit awhile until you hear the knock. Jesus said, “….”
Thank you Sara for the beautiful peaceful scene of the mountain. As I look ever so carefully, it draws my attention to the clouds. One of my most favorite activities as a child was looking at the clouds and seeing a picture in the them. We would take trips from Virginia to Oklahoma every year. Hours were spent gazing at the clouds. The clouds in the picture look like the clouds of rain before the storm. But if you really look to the right in the dark clouds, you will see muscular arms cupping hands as extending a gift. (Remember, I spent time being still, looking for a picture.)
What gift could God be giving you? As we are facing COVID 19, we are told and see: Stay 6 feet apart, companies are on lock down or many foreclosures are happening, and stay home and wash hands frequently. An invisible enemy on attack on earth.
Many times a visible/invisible attack suddenly reveals its ugly head in our lives. A storm which goes on for years or for a week or a day. Often, I think of Elijah (Elijah 1Kings19: 1-15) running away after doing God’s will and showing people that God is real. He ran to the mountain and hiding in the cave, for FEAR had over come him for Jezebel had said she would have him killed. Elijah’s brain was racing in fear but God knew how to refocus him. He sent earthquakes, high winds, fire and then a STILL gentle voice and he knew it was God’s voice for he had heard it many times before, and he fell down and worshipped Him. The voice he had heard many, many times before. Hearing the voice of God reassured him, God had not left Him. God had been there all the time. God with a GENTLE voice spoke to Him. (There is nothing like a gentle voice to calm us during a storm.)
When I think upon the scripture Sara focused on: So often I hear, “Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10, Lamentations 3:25–28 ) Go quietly and know God’s peace may just be a gift in your silence.
Peace, be still! ( Matthew 8:26.)Jesus Christ speaks, and the wind ceases. After the fierce storm relents, a great calm descends.
God knew how to get Elijah to have peace and a stillness of mind. The storm was real, but God’s gentle voice, brought him to his knees and filled him with peace. The situation was still there, but the stillness of mind quieted the fear that had turned his mind to race. If we fear can not stand. Proverbs 29: The fear of man is a snare, but
whoever stands in trust in the Lord is kept safe.”of God, Elijah then waited with expectation for God’s instructions.
So many times storms of life have brought crippling fear and my mind was out of control. Leading me to scream out for help, God spoke and still speaks through His words, counselors, pastors, songs. Knowing He had brought me through past experience, I’ve had a mind change (a stillness of mind, God given.). Just like the picture that I saw in the cloud, the gift of Him and the stillness He gives to all is real. First, I had to believe in Him as Savior and know He calls us friends. As a friend, I know through Psalms 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Sara oh how I love the song by Keith Green, Oh Lord you are beautiful! Thank you for sharing Sara. May all who profess Jesus sing along with him, glorifying the Lord. May we in doing so, shine for Jesus. Would it not be cool for everyone to raise a light (flashlight) in praise to God in these darkest of times thus saying darkness cannot extinguish the light of God – our Savior we give you praise!!!!
Jesus said,
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27 NLT
Sara wrote, “Jesus said, “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27 NLT
Thinking on the part, “…the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give.”, encouraged me to read/review on this otherworldly peace.
Jesus is referred to as The Prince of Peace. “… The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end…” Isaiah 9:6 and 7
“For He Himself is our peace…” Eph. 2:14
And as I thought about the clouds Rena wrote of, I thought of the need to watch for this Prince. For we are told, “Look! He is coming in the clouds. Every eye will see him, even those who pierced him. Every tribe on earth will mourn because of him. This is true. Amen.” Rev. 1:7
