“I am the Lord; I have called you in righteousness; I will take you by the hand and keep you; I will give you as a covenant for the people, a light for the nations,” Isaiah 42:6 ESV

Psalm 19:1 reads, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands” (NIV)
“because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.”
Romans 1:25 ESV
“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”
Revelation 4:11 ESV
I find it so easy to feast my eyes upon God’s Beauty such as this photo taken a few days ago by my son and texted to me in seconds. It’s great to see this view either in person or photo. I have a child like excitement in telling God how great he is and even humming Him an off key tune.
I even have a lower key hum in letting him know I love His Light and appreciate you and me, too as His creation and our light form. I believe as a Christian God created us in his image and for a purpose.
Yet, I find when I have to take my eyes off the beauty of nature and be the light so others can find their way to Jesus Christ by His death and resurrection, crown of thorns, and blood pierce side I way too often seem to lose my hum. John 19:34
I’m not proud of this admission yet I feel blessed that I can learn from my actions and words that I’m not being the light God created me to be and CHANGE! Pray for forgiveness, ask for wisdom which I will be given according to James 1:5.
And, I can expect to struggle a little or maybe a bit more at times with my new wisdom. But, then joy comes because a light for others to see comes!
A thought to ponder as I turn to the new, if I walk out to the beach as shown in this photo at noon today will I see the same light and reflection? Will I be disappointed or still marvel at God’s creation? Maybe that’s how it is with you and me! What does others see? I answer, let love grow where the seed of Jesse/love is planted. (Isaiah 11:1)

“…if I walk out to the beach as shown in this photo at noon today will I see the same light and reflection?” No, because the sun is always moving in the heavens and as it does, it’s angle changes, so reflections will change. Also, at noon, there may be dark clouds in the sky, or it may become overcast. That will dim the sun’s light and diminish the reflection.
“…Will I be disappointed or still marvel at God’s creation?” After looking at your son’s beautiful photo, Sara, I think I would be disappointed if the sun was hidden behind clouds. If it was bright and beautiful, I may marvel at God’s creation because everything will be brilliant with almost blinding reflection on those waters.
“…Maybe that’s how it is with you and me! What does others see?” Well, if it’s overcast, and they can’t see the Light of Jesus in us, they may not marvel at God’s creation, His grace and beauty. That reminds me of this scripture from Matthew 5:16, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
This blog, Sara, prompted me to review one of the chapters in your workbook we used at a retreat, “Throwing Your Light Forward”. The chapter was titled, “Reflecting the Light”. In it you said that Light illuminates us, and then we throw that light forward to help illuminate others. I think Matthew 5:16 illustrates this. Here are a couple of excerpts I found helpful/relevant:
“By an “Act of Faith” we become children of God, thereby inheriting Light. At this point we realize we have Light focused and thrown in our direction to illuminate us in every way and for every situation.”
“Aaron, the High Priest, arranged the Lights so they would shine in a direction to give Light to the people. Jesus shines to give Light to you as well as me PLUS! Aaron threw his light forward by showing a life of obedience. Obedience brings light and disobedience darkness. Obedience comes through the studying and understanding of God’s word by obeying his precepts in our daily lives.”
The footnotes for Psalm 19:1 says: (NLT) “In this Psalm, David meditates on God’s creation, God’s Word, his own sinfulness, and God’s forgiveness. As God reveals himself through nature (19: 1-6), we learn about his power and our finiteness. As God reveals himself, through Scripture (19: 7-11), we learn about his holiness in our sinfulness. As God reveals himself through daily experiences (19: 12-14), we learn about his gracious forgiveness that frees us from guilt.” That is a gorgeous picture above of God’s beautiful creation!😊
“…and God’s forgiveness.” (Footnotes)
