My Time with Roxy

After my morning devotions, a visit to ‘The Daily Lily’, and other preparations getting myself ready for the day, I go to the bottom of the stairs and listen and I know that there is someone at the bottom of the stairs doing the same thing…listening.

Then we both stick our heads around the corner and I see two large brown Puppy eyes staring
at me. It’s Roxy, aka The Daily Lily’s pug. I suppose she sees “breakfast, outside, tummy rub and
old sock tug of war”…well maybe she sees me too.

She likes the same thigs I do, can you imagine that? Sewing, crocheting,
painting and cooking, too. She follows me foot to foot, and if not, just with
her big brown puppy eyes she follows me. She is always there with her comforting puppy self. She seems to know the heaviness of my heart especially this week as my Mom is in the hospital with kidney failure, my Dad recovering from cancer treatment among many other issues. She looks at me and says with her eyes..”everything is going to be alright. Dorothy, can’t you see God takes care of me and He is taking care of you too!” And I squeeze her and we get the leash and go for a nice long walk up to her favorite pine tree…

My husband Sherman has even found comfort in and from her this week …
He had tragic news that his niece passed away, was killed in a car accident. Roxy understood. She sees
him sitting in the chair and she leaves her favorite “couch”(yes the whole couch is hers and she’s just a little Pug!) Anyway she sees him and she jumps up and squeezes in beside him in is small chair. He gently rubs her head
over and over again while she just keeps oozing out comfort in a way no one else can. That’s Roxy, a very special pug.

Every one loves her, when we go to the bank the ladies there know her and
give her two biscuits instead of one, whoops and that’s against her diet. My neighbors they
slow the cars down just to get a good look at her…She is really shiny and the
way she barks… Roo,Roo, Roo just warms your heart. She looks like she
puckering up to kiss you, and you know what? She is! That’s, my Roxy, that’s my Roo Roo, she is one comforting
pug and a lot of love too!.. I feel so blessed that Roxy gets to spend some of her vacation time with Sherman and me.

Thanks Jon for letting Roxy be a part of The Daily Lily “Trumpeting Faith, Giving Hope, Serving Others with Love.”

  1. Thanks, Dorothy for an excellent description of our “Daily ROXY.”
She’s a “PUG in a million!” When I was leaving to visit my family in Florida and planned to be gone a few weeks, She squeezed into the chair beside me and put her paw on my leg as if to say…..”do you really have to go?” Sara explained to her that I needed to visit my Mama and though she seemed to understand, she was not happy about it and had a tear in her eye. She stood in the corner when I left. I can never forget that wonderful, loyal, delightful creation of GOD’S….Roxanna-Maria-Suzetta-Carlotta-Ann!(my pet name for her) PUG PAR EXCELLENCE!!!

  2. Thanks for sharing your heart with us Dorothy and Roxy’s heart. As I read your creative account I was reminded of Matt. 5:4 which says…”blessed are those that mourn for they shall be comforted”. God certainly uses Roxy to bless you.
Sensitive Roxy is also a blessing to me and others as well. She seems to ‘know’ your every thought and have the right response.

  3. Dorthy and Sherman, our thoughts and prayers go out to both of you and your families. We join Roxy in extending our love, concern, and a williness to help in any way we can.

Roxy, our pug, is such a special baby. She seems to be so full of wisdom. We are grateful for her being a part of our family, church family and The Daily Lily as well. WOW, she makes a great missionery.

  4. I’m so happy that Roxy is with you now with all you have been through. He really extends Jesus’s love everytime I have been around him. You just want to put your arms around him and give him a big hug and kiss. Somehow God just knows when to send him, Roxy, calling just when we need him.
