Quote for our Day

“Remember happiness doesn’t depend upon who you are or what you have; it depends solely on what you think.”
– Dale Carnegie

Another one of my favorite quotes:
“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson

  1. I was reading this morning in Philipians and it went right along with this quote…It says in Philipians 4;8 ..whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virture and if there is anything praise worthy, think on these things….It seems that Proverbs 23;7 is right on target by saying as a man thinks in his heart so is he…..but thats something to really think about too because we btter be thinking right thoughts soon as we open our eyes(even before) in the morning because its what we think and say and do that makes our day….this past sunday Sara reminded us(me) that Gods thoughts toward us are good….now it seems to me since His thoughts toward me are good…I had better think some good thoughts too….(thanks for sharing the quotes they cause me to search the Word then search me) dj

    1. Those things you mentioned in Philippians, Dorothy, that we are to think on remind me of seeds. And my mind is a field. And I really learned a lot of mind principles from Sara’s ‘Dance of Healing’ retreat this summer. My mind’s field has to be cultivated (or plowed up and prepared for planting)and then the good seeds (like those thoughts in Philippians) have to be sown or planted. Then these good seeds must sprout and develop into little seedlings (that’s Sara’s conception and development stage). Once this occurs the field of my mind will be transformed from a barren wasteland or a field of brush and weeds into a good crop which can soon be harvested for profit and for serving/helping others. But if noxious weeds are sown, eventually they will take over and consume the field of my mind and it will be worse than ever. A little thistle seed, johnson grass seed or poison ivy seed is so small it seems insignificant but when it matures farmers know they have a major problem on their hands. So I agree with you Dorothy, I better be thinking right thoughts.

  2. You know, Dorothy, that is true about God’s thoughts toward us are for good and not evil. That is why God is GOODNESS because His thoughts are constantly GOOD and HE thinks in His heart, the GOOD. The word “GOD” is a derivative of the word “GOOD”. For that’s how GOD thinks in HIS HEART and so HE IS!
A good Attitude is greatest part of of our thought patterns. If we have a good attitude our thoughts will go toward the good. If our attitude is evil then our words and deeds will be evil and unproductive.

    Correction/Thoughts

I meant to say in “THOUGHTS” , the word ‘good’ is a derivative of the word “GOD”! I believe that is how it goes, rather than the opposite and if so I stand corrected. Thanks

  3. Emerson’s quote says to me to pay attention and cultivate and guard what is within me for in Luke 17:21, Jesus says, “the kingdom of God is within you.”
