You will find this same article under the title of “Measure of a Lie measures a man or woman!” right here on “The Daily Lily.” I posted this some months ago but it came clearly to me this morning that I should encourage us to read and study this article to help with some of the areas in our lives that we are dealing with at this time.
If you are like me, many times I open the page and look for something new and find out that something that was posted months ago may be just what I need to remind myself to get back on track, correct and encourage me. I would suggest that when we can we take time to reread our articles and let each of them minister to us.
I am so encouraged by all our articles and comments. Thank you for encouraging me and others.
How does one measure a Lie?
God Hates Lies! Proverbs 6:16 records this fact for us.
The Apostle John on the Isle of Patmos reveals in Revelation 21:27 the outcome of falsehood. Also in Revelation 22:14,15 John gives a contrast between a lie and truth.
As I ponder and meditate the measure of A Lie, I ask some questions of myself and of others.
How generous are we with our lies when giving them to others?
Do we lie to Ourselves? To our Mother and Father? To our Children? To a Husband or Wife? To other Family members? To Friends? To our Co-workers or Employers?
Do we balance our lies while speaking with others while wanting a lie from them for ourselves? Ephesians 4:25 prohibit us from speaking a lie to others.
Just how does one measure a Lie?
Truth makes one free, so it would stand to reason a lie would make one a prisoner of self.
We have great potential to enlarge our dreams, live our hopes, live longer
and healthier with positive truthful thoughts and actions. While living a lie
will cage our potential into a “web of lies” locking the door of truth.
A Lie is like a crochet chain without the chain there would be no foundation and you could not bring forth a work of art.
Truth is a pearl of wisdom set in a glorious work of art….
One Lie links to another Lie and we continue with ours and allow others to add theirs to our lie to make a scheme and we become a great big Lie.
Wonder why God, Our Heavenly Father, hates lies so much? (John 8:44) We are told that Satan, the devil himself is the father of all lies. We find Satan wins us over with the beauty of his lies.
Satan surely had and has a chain of schemes for all of God’s children. His scheme is to make a beautiful wrap all for himself and wrap us warmly with him.
When you wrap yourself in Satan and his lies you lose control of just who
you are and your goals and dreams. You just gave Satan complete control of your life.
Satan feeds you, nourishes you and takes care of you as one of his children.
Are you a Pearl of great value set in Wisdom of truth or are you a lie linked to a chain of fools?

We had better be pearls and other precious stones set in the Kingdom of God building up in His foundation…because being in a chain of fools gets you hell….and being a person who crochets I know if all you have is a chain one day you’ll run out of material and come to the end and some one pulls that end of yarn and every chain that was stitched will come out and you have nothing….dj
Prov. 3:13 “happy is the man who finds wisdom and the man who gains understanding.”
Prov 8:35 Whoever finds Me finds life, and obtains favor from the Lord.”
And again in God’s Word, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,” and once again, in Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowedge. Christ Jesus became for us Wisdom.”
“you man have an abundance for every good work.” “Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the Kindgom which He promised to those who love Him?
Are we a Pearl of great value set in Wisdom of truth or are we a lie linked to a chain of fools? When we gather round the feet of Christ in all humility we hear “pearls of wisdom.”
God says “Do not throw pearls before swine” valuable things offered or given to people who do not appreciate them.
Thank you, Sara for reminding us of the article months ago, regarding “measure of a lie.” Satan truly does have schemes to try and trick us into lies and darkness. God, help us ALL to wrap ourselves in You, so that we may not lose control of who we are and what our goals and dreams are. Satan is a liar and wants us to be bound up in a “chain of fools”, but we know that JESUS is the Way, the TRUTH, and the Life and we can come to Him to be that “pearl of great value set in wisdom of truth.”
Your encouragment and inspiration awakes one to search for truths. Where you quoted that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life…”
the Prophet Hosea in 14:9 gives us God’s response to confession, vs. 1-3 which is forgiveness, restoration, life and healing. But in vs. 9 Hosea encourages us to hear the conclusion of the whole matter, “the ways of the Lord are right and the righteous walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them.
God’s Word protrays a dance to me like “faith or doubt”, understanding or misunderstanding. One step or the other…True or False…I know these two little words can be the cause of pass or fail a big test or exam…But, we have the greatest test book if we just study for the test and walk in the truth.
again from (GN I)start walking.” The man was healed on the spot.”
Thank you for this message. Lies are terrible and the Father of all lies even worse. As I was reading it, I thought when we are given over to lies it is like wrapping a terrible cocoon around are bodies from head to toe. Without the SON (Jesus) our minds are cut off from true life (breath) given by God. We begin to suffocate. We lose our uniqueness God had created in us. Eventually we will die whether it is a physical death, emotional, or mental death. Our minds will be so confused that we won’t know the truth from a lie. Worse yet we will die without the hope of being with Jesus. May we rebuke his lies from the start and refuse to participate in them. May we stand for truth.
Rena your cocoon example reminded me of Sara’s ‘Dance of Healing’ retreat lesson which exhorted us to “never again try to fit into the molds made by the enemy of our souls”. If we do we will never discover and become our authentic self which was a goal of the retreat. One definition of authentic according to Webster is ‘real, not false’. This means being truthful with ourselves and others in order to be authentic. A cocoon could be thought of as a dark, constricting mold. And I agree with Needles who said we don’t want to be wrapped in anything other than God. And God is light and truth.
I have come to see that finding authentic self is a moment by moment experience as we experience life in all forms.
“Sometimes you’ve got to create what you want to be a part of.”
– Geri Weitzman
I can hear the gospel singers singing now “Let us all go back to the old landmarks.”
Rena, this says we are back to understanding more of Watchman Nee’s little book, “Sit, Walk, Stand.” I have suggested that we once again study GN’s, part I and maybe II and III.
“May we stand for truth” your words above…. we are all standing but what are we standing for? When we do not stand (take action for) then we are standing for the opposite. We don’t stand on the fence, ie saying nothing, if so, James 1:8 “”a double-minded man, is unstable in all his ways.” WOW, listen to Eugene Peterson, Message from James I…””People who worry their prayers are like wind-whipped waves. Don’t think you’re going to get anything from the
Master that way, adrift at sea, keeping all your options open.”
As I meditated on this article with study I felt The Holy Spirit lead me to Psalm 120 to study.
“Deliver me from the liars, God!. They smile so sweetly but lie through their teeth.”
“Do you know what’s next, can you see what’s coming, al you barefaced liars? Pointed arrows and burning coals will be your reward. vs. 1-4 Message
I would like to encourage all to read this very short Psalm with an opened heart and mind.
us from lying lips. When we think about it this could be our own lips as well as the lips of others. When we see the results of lying lips either from ourselves or others, we must cry out for mercy and correct this. As our article says:
“One Lie links to another Lie and we continue with ours and allow others to add theirs to our lie to make a scheme and we become a great big Lie.
You just gave Satan complete control of your life.”
This sure sounds like Psalm 21 “my reward is burning coals and pointed arrows.” Let us Admit it, face it, and change it. Thanks Rena for taking the time to help us learn.
Rena I read Psalm 120..and when I read the last two lines…from the King James version new open Bible it reads…I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war….I saw this in a new light..I AM…the Great IAM..Almighty God is for Peace. When one walks in the Spirit and allows God to rule and reign then the I AM causes there to be peace.. John 14:27 …My peace I give to you..not as the world gives…..Then I saw that If one dosen’t yeild to God and allow Him to set on the throne of ones heart then the words that are spoken they will be for war…something to think about…dj
God spoke, I was, I Am and I will be….I don’t think I can fully grasp the infinite mercy and peace of God.
….He will be…this is great hope for each of us.
Dorothy, I am really enjoying this Bible Study. Thanks for putting us in remembrance of studying, learning and sharing with one another at all times. It sure helps to keep our minds steady on Him. And, most of all it shows how Faith can and will control the tongue when we keep our mind steady on Him.
Isaiah 26:3
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
Thanks for this follow up. Yes God’s peace. I felt total peace as I read your reply. Thank you for your response. None of us could live apart from God’s peace. War or peace, I choose peace. The peace of knowing Jesus.
Wonder Why God, Our Heavenly Father, hates lies so much?…I read the article above and re-read it and then went to John 8;44 because I wanted to know more about that question and try to learn more about the answer…so I read that (just like the article says above you belong to him) and the desires of your father you want to do.. it says you WANT to do His desires! ..well he’s a murderer and that makes you a murderer and there is no eternal life abiding in you…and therefore you will perish right along with Satan because the book of Revelation says Rev21;8, “But the cowardly, unbelieving, abomidable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”….and God Hates lies because it is opposite of all He is…. He so loved the world that He Gave his only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. God Our Heavenly Father hates lies because it brings death……it is death….If you remember in another article on the Daily lily we were talking about the mouth being a trap….well Gods word in Proverbs 18;21 says Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit….now that got me to thinking …if youre a lier the fruit is death…thats what you get….but if you’re truthful..the fruit is life…and thats (good eatings)…dj
Dorothy, you have given us a lesson on Psalm 23:5,6 “God prepares a table before us in the presence of our enemies….Surely goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives, and we will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
Dorothy, you wrote: “God Hates lies because it is opposite of all He is….” He is Truth and Truth will make us free.” He gave the truth but we must receive His truth and live it. Wonder why it really is so hard for us at times?
I am thinking He is Truth, He invites us to His Table of Truth and when we eat from this table we will overcome the enemy. But, as you quoted life and death are in the power of the tongue. The Book of James tells us “…no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.” vs. 7 The beauty of James 3 the whole chapter it tells us there is a qualified trainer and His Name is Faith. Yes, Faith Controls the Tongue. Let us sit at His table often and eat from the good of the land.
Thinking about Faith as a qualified trainer reminded me of a training technique my father, who was a horse trainer, sometimes had to use on certain race horses who had problems with their tongues in races. For some reason, otherwise outstanding runners, couldn’t keep their tongues from ‘wagging’ and moving around while in the race. If left unchecked, these tongue waggers would literally choke on their own tongues to the point of not being able to breathe properly, would become uncontrollable, and would lose the race. Once Dad learned of this problem he would have to use a tongue-tie to ‘tie ‘ them down prior to the race to prevent this. (Tongue tie: Strip of cloth-type material used to stabilize a horse’s tongue to prevent it from ”choking down” in a race or workout or to keep the tongue from sliding up over the bit, rendering the horse uncontrollable.)In faith, he trusted this bridling and bit technique would work and the horse could finish his race well.
This lines right up with James 3 you speak of about an unruly tongue. In verse 2 James says…”for we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle (another horse apparel)the whole body. Indeed we put bits in horses mouths that they may obey us and we turn their whole body..”
Through Faith, managing the tongue problem, can help us finish our race well.
Horse and ship are two powerful strengths James speaks of and maybe he is reminding us what we are like. Mighty power all over the place without passion compassion.
II PETER 1 gives us the perfect trainer’s manuel for training our Faith to work for us. Hey, dosen’t horses pay pretty well when they win!
I was re-reading this again and read this part,,,Satan feeds you, nourishes you and takes care of you as one of his children…man that ought to scare the bejeebers or what ever out of people…The father of lies, the one who is death, who steals, kills, and destroys..is going to feed, nourish, take care of you as one of his children…Man thats all the opposite of what Little Lady just wrote in Her latest blog…and I see as I study this…Its in John 10;10,,,just a few lines above it John10:5 and below it John10;11 Jesus says He is the Good shepard and that He gives His life for His sheep…And He takes them with Him…wow..All Satan can feed people with is death..and then they go with him.. something to think about…dj
