LOVE YA

One morning you will never wake up.
Do all your friends know you love them?
I was thinking…I could die today,
tomorrow or next week,
and I wondered if I had any wounds needing to be healed,
friendships that needed rekindling or three words needing to be said.
Let every one of your friends know you love them.
Even if you think they don’t love you back,
you would be amazed at what those three little words and a smile can do.
And just in case GOD calls me home before I see you again…….
I LOVE YA!!!

  1. I love you also Jersey. I was reading an article today from “Decision Magazine” and the writer was speaking on love, relationships and connecting.

One of the things said was “Love people in their language. What practical thing would make them feel loved by me and loved by God.”

Then I read your blog and thought how many of us even know what would make others feel loved, or even care to know, and if we did know, would we do it?

John 15:12-17 Jesus speaking on relationships of believer to each other “…love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”

I think this has meaning like your blog, stop, pause and tell or show another that you love them.

  2. Jersey, I was reading blog on”Mirror of Self” under inspiration, page 3 today and found a comment by you. You said your Mother taught you to look into the mirror of self and say I love you. Just seem to be part of Love Ya!

    1. SARA, THAT IS SO TRUE!!! I LEARNED TO LOVE OTHERS AFTER I LEARNED TO LOVE/LIKE MYSELF. MY MOTHER HAS BEEN AN INSPIRATION TO MY LIFE. SHE HAS TAUGHT ME WHAT UNCONDITIONAL LOVE IS ALL ABOUT, ALSO WHAT TRUE LOVE IS. SHE IS VERY SPECIAL TO ME. THE DAY SHE TOLD ME TO LOOK INTO THE MIRROR I WAS TAUGHT A GREAT LESSON. NOT ONLY WAS I LOOKING AT MYSELF I WAS LOOKING AT GOD.
I TRY TO PRACTICE THIS EVERY DAY. TREAT PEOPLE LIKE I LIKE TO BE TREATED. SOMETIMES I FALL SHORT.
I LEARNED A GREAT DEAL AFTER MOVING 1 YEAR AND 364 DAYS AGO.
COWMILKER/CHICKEN FARMER TOLD ME “SOMETIMES GOD WILL TAKE YOU AWAY FROM EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE YOU LOVE AND NEED TO GET YOUR ATTENTION”
HE HAS GIVEN ME A SECOND CHANCE AND I BELIEVE LOVE IS THE KEY!!!!!!!!
      1 CORINTHIANS 13
LOVE IS PATIENT; LOVE IS KIND.
LOVE IS NOT ENVIONUS OR BOASTFUL OR ARROGANT OR RUDE.
      IS DOES NOT INSIST ON ITS OWN WAY: IT IS NOT IRRITABLE OR RESENTFUL;
IT DOES NOT REJOICE IN WRONG DOING, BUT REJOICES IN TRUTH.
LOVE BEARS ALL THINGS, BELIEVES ALL THINGS, HOPES ALL THINGS, ENDURES ALL THINGS.
AND NOW FAITH, HOPE, AND LOVE ABIDE, AND THE GREATEST OF THESE IS LOVE.
      COLOSSIANS-3:12-19
THEREFORE, AS GOD’S CHOSEN PEOPLE, HOLY AND DEARLY LOVED, CLOTHE YOURSELVES WITH COMPASSION, KINDNESS, HUMILITY, GENTLENESS AND PATIENCE. BEAR WITH EACH OTHER AND FORGIVE WHATEVER GRIEVANCES YOU MAY HAVE AGAINST ONE ANOTHER. FORGIVE AS THE LORD FORGAVE YOU. AND OVER ALL THESE VIRTUES PUT ON LOVE, WHICH BINDS THEM ALL TOGETHER IN PERFECT UNITY. LET THE PEACE OF CHRIST RULE IN YOUR HEARTS, SINCE AS MEMBERS OF ONE BODY YOU WERE CALLED TO PEACE. AND BE THANKFUL. LET THE WORD OF CHRIST DWELL IN YOU RICHLY AS YOU TEACH AND ADMONISH ONE ANOTHER WITH ALL WISDOM, AND AS YOU SING PSALAMS, HYMNS AND SPIRITUAL SONGS WITH GRATITUDE IN YOUR HEARTS TO GOD. AND WHATEVER YOU DO, WHETHER IN WORD OR DEED, DO IT ALL IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS, GIVING THANKS TO GOD THE FATHER THROUGH HIM.
LOVE IS THE GREATEST GIFT. ONE WE DO NOT GIVE OFTEN ENOUGH!!!!!!

IT DOESN’T NEED A BOW OR FANCY WRAPPING PAPER. IT IS FELT IN THE HEART. WE ALL HAVE IT. LET’START SHARING OUR LOVE FOR EACH OTHER. IT IS ONE OF THE MOST BASIC NEEDS IN LIFE.

      1. Love is an action that…
Reaches out as the branches of a tree providing shade for weary travelers.
That…shines as a lampost on a dark street corner illuminating the Way.
That…sings as a songbird in the night to a heavy heart.
That…builds a bridge over a raging river for someone to cross over to the Other side.
That…waters a neighbor’s garden when they are in a ‘season’ of drought.
That…stays up cooking for a starving soul long after everyone else went to bed.
That…takes her time and energy to write this blog to show God’s love and let us know she really cares.
        That’s…love in action…that’s you, Jersey!

      2. Dear Jersey,
As a teacher I see many students who just need a hug, a smile, and a listening ear. Many come running for those hugs and smiles. Many on this site have given me hugs and smiles with words on this site. We never know where a person is at or the troubles they are going through and how a word someone else may speak on this site or in person may extend a beam of hope. That hope they may cling to for life. One day a grandmother spoke on the phone with me for an hour. What I have held on to for years is that we often quit praying for something, just like a biker who comes to a turn in a road quits, we quit and the answer to our prayer may just right around the corner.
Another thing I have clung to for years is a beautiful card which pictured me being batted around by the devil. The verse said that I would stand and with stand. I have clung to these for so many years. They give me hope. I know Jesus is there for me although the road is often a little bumpy.

I love you and can hardly wait to see you someday. Thank you for this beautiful article of love.

  3. This is so true…those three words could be the last words they ever recieve from you …and that smile may be your last to give..or they to recieve from you…just like you said Jersey…death could come today…..And Sara (and others) through the blogs have been teaching about showing and Telling ..(see HEADLINES..OPRAH..right under this blog under health and beauty.. and what The Daily Lily Has Done Too)….so if we cant even talk at least show it like You Jesey have done(not saying you cant talk)but You sure show it in your work and your writings that you truely love all…and….just in case.. I love ya! too..dj

    1. Dorthy, I know you understand this and it is fresh within your own mind and heart with having had to say this to your own Dad about one week ago and then his passing away shortly thereafter. Gary and I feel the pain with you that one feels in losing a loving parent.

I know you and Sherman just visited a dying lady in the hospital w/o a family to care for her.One that you and Sherman had worked for and known for years but in a lot of ways a stranger. Yet you have gone recently when she needed a lot of things cleaned up from her sickness and had no one and had not entered the hospital because she didn’t know and did not have the ability to know. Sherman found a way to get her to the hospital for her to find out she had cancer all over her body. Oh my God just so sad. Sherman found a distant family member to step-up to the plate. And, you and Sherman drove on a work day (and you made it back to work) to visit her in the hospital, hold her hand, and share God, love and compassion. All this while your Dad is being held in a funeral home waiting for a burial at Arlington National Cemetery, a retired military man with a purple heart. You can surely be proud of your Dad. He again is serving our country, even waiting for his honorable burial as other soldiers are coming home daily in body bags to be buried ahead of him maybe. Waited at times because military hospitals are overflowing with wounded soldiers. Ones that care about us and showing love for our freedom as they know to do.
What a woman you are Dorothy! One that loves and shows by doing and talking (saying AND MEANING I LOVE YOU) and giving your all. A brave bold military Christian WOMAN you are. Much like your Dad was in the military, in God’s army you deserve a” purple heart medal.” And, I am sure when you stand before the BEMA seat of Jesus Christ you will have one.

You are a great woman of courage and grace and mercy. Thank you and Sherman and we love you and honor you and respect you both. Thank you Jersey for helping us all to find a way to express love in many creative ways.

      1. At the school that I work for Tolbert Elementary, a board of honor was created for the Veterans, and the week before my father passed I submitted his name as having recieved a purple heart for being wounded in the Korean war haveing been shot by the enemy in the back with a machine gun…having survived the Army honored him with the purple heart…and now once again he is being honored by you Sara and The Daily Lily…thank you….abundant love…dj;;You know I believe without a doubt that medals of honor will be given out at the Bema seat…and true this is and we are in God’s Army….so we had better be about this showing and telling….because the’ Day of Honor’ is coming shortly and I’d rather be given a medal than have it stripped from my breast the way I’ve seen it done…and told I never knew you..dj

  4. Whose Vision is this? Are you a part of this VISION. Yes, serving others with love?

“Trumpeting Faith, Giving Hope, Serving Others with Love”

    1. vision and mine….and I am a part of this VISION….Go into all the world…God so loved the world that He gave…..serving others with Love….true love…Trumpeting Faith,..whoever believes ….Giving Hope…should not perish….Everlasting Life…with Love….(good riddle)…I love you too Sara…dj

  5. Jersey,
God’s Word tells us to “love our neighbor as ourself.” I believe He is
talking about “everyone”, not just the ones who will love you back. Thanks
for reminding us that three little words can help a friend or family member
know that they are truly loved.

    1. I woke up this morning thinking of all the ways I could love others as myself. Like mind my business, don’t disrupt others in restaurants with my noise or those at my table. Drive with love, eat with love, walk with love, smile with love, say I love you with love. Keep my surroundingss clean, neat and healthy. Add to the beauty of God’s universe with tress, plants and flowers. Keep commitments to myself and others.

Remember our soldiers on the battle field and remember their families at home. Love him/her, them, by praying for our leaders and our soldiers and giving to help support them and their families. Send packages, write letters and cards. Vote! Keep my life free of sin so God will have a vehicle to bless our Nation and neighbors with.

Try not to distract another from their walk with God. Love is forever, I have heard. Someone got that right. I am beginning to think “I can’t love fast enough.” 🙂

Give to the poor, visit the shut-ins.

Give generously to the work of the lord both with my finances and gifts. Teach Sunday School. Help a child with reading and learning. Always be a role model to all by my character. Never lie, or be a coward. Clean up areas in my life that needs it immediately. Don’t walk around with a grudge or secret sin.

This is just to jump start my day. I always find new ways to love my neighbor as I venture into the day. And, I need this old hymn on my lips each step of the way.
“Just A Closer Walk With Thee
      I am weak, but Thou art strong;
      Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
      I’ll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.”

Thanks Jersey and Needles. Let us pray for one another to have and show God’s love.

      1. Sara, your comment….’find new ways to love me neighbor’ reminded me of a Randy Travis song ‘The Carpenter’ that I like to play over and over so I can get the message in my being. Here’s an excerpt: “there’s no home I could design that would match the one you’d find when you leave this world behind if you’ll only take the time to (chorus) Love your neighbor like your brother, treat your brother like a friend; always turn the other cheek, help the weary and the weak. Make the time for young and old and as your life unfolds, each kindness that you’ve shown will be the nails and hammers as you build your final ladder in the manner of the Carpenter of old.”

  6. My name is Grace. I am ten and I sometimes feel that way. Wondering if those words could be the last. I think you just need time to talk to friends and tell them how much you love them, thank them, and care about them. You seem like a wonderful lady. Don’t live in fear of dieing though because you never know when you are going to die so don’t live in fear of it.
    With Faith,
    Grace
