Prayer for Our Day

Our soul waits for the Lord: he is our help and our shield. Psalm 35:20 NASN

Dear Father, our souls do truly wait for you. Our souls do truly magnify you. We acknowledge that You have thoughts and plans for each us today and we accept them as ours.

Glossarypraying

We now trolley into Your thoughts and plans for our lives this day. Plans that make our day zing with joy. We find our stride and pace our steps for happiness and success. When this is our reality others around us may find their way.

Our souls are in a ‘circle of quiet’ as we wait at each pause of our day for help that makes each task light. We wait for the shield of faith to buckle in place to fend off the enemy of our souls.

We wait in hope for the LORD; Yes, Our Lord, we wait in Hope for you.

In Your Holy Name, I, Sara, pray for Your Daily Lilies, Hear our prayer, O Lord.

  1. Thank you, Father, for being our help and our shield. We do give you praise and honor for all that you are to us, and to everyone who is willing to follow you. Amen.

  2. You, oh Lord, are our Strength and our Shield. You encompass us round about with angelic umbrage. You rejoice over us with singing. You visit us in the night seasons and Your song lingers with us through the night. We are not afraid of the arrow that flies by day nor the terror by night. We dwell in the secret place of the Most High and abide under the Shadow of the Almighty Whose power no foe can withstand.
    We do say of You, Lord, that You are our Refuge and our Fortress; OUR GOD in You do we TRUST.
    Neither is there any ROCK like our GOD. YOU are Holy and Wholly ours. We worship YOU, OH LORD!!!

  3. I was thinking again of this prayer and the words ‘trolley’ and ‘thoughts’. To trolley into is an action. It requires something on our part. Usually one would ride a trolley to be transported some place and because a trolley runs from electricity it is a quiet ride…no noisy engine, no gas fumes, no fanfare. So Sara must be telling us above that there is a way to get on track and be transported from our own thoughts into God’s thoughts and plans for our lives which is the Place where we will find that zing. “Commit (entrust) your works to the Lord and your thoughts will be established.” (Prov. 16:3)For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. ” (Isaiah 55: 8). I think this may be one step to getting on the circuit track and into her ‘circle of quiet’.

  4. Could we not just travel in the mind of Christ at all times? Would this not be easy and make life a lot simplier?

    Isaiah 55:7
    Let the wicked forsake his way
    and the evil man his thoughts.
    Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him,
    and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

    8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
    neither are your ways my ways,”
    declares the LORD.”

    Isn’t the key here to know what is evil and what is not and ride not on evil thoughts and one will “- trolley into Your thoughts and plans for our lives this day. Plans that make our day zing with joy.” It would seem the destination would be peace ‘circle of quiet.’ Enjoy the ride.

  5. Yes,I agree, it would be easier and a lot simpler to travel in the mind of Christ..choose to think good and do good at all times.
    And another incentive: “When a man’s ways please the Lord He makes even His enemies to be at peace with him.”(Ps 16:7)

  6. OK, helpers, help needed…Psalm 16:7… Is this the right scripture for if a man’s ways please the Lord?

    Also,is there a difference between think good and do good?

  7. back to is there a difference between think good and do good….Think=to know, to form or have in the mind, to have as an intention, to have as as opinion to regard as; to consider, to to ponder, to call to mind to divise by thinking, to reason…..Think=implies the entrance of an idea into ones mind with or without deliberate consideration or reflection …think is general and may apply to any mental activity,but used alone aften suggests attainment of clear ideas or conclusions…….OHH..Im getting something.. it seems thinking is in the mind…but doing somtimes can just by pass the mind…we can think all the good thoughts we want to, our good thoughts wont get us anywhere unless they are put to action with the leading of the Lord..and all our good doings will get us no where with out the leading of the Lord it s what weve been on through all the blogs…Faith without works and works without faith…and seeking Gods will….. I also found ….James 4;17 says to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin…He knows the good…but doesnt put it in action…ouch…sloughthful..lazy..sin..ouch…You are right Sara easier and simpler, to travel in the mind of Christ…why does it not happen…or stay happening?…dj

  8. There is that old adage, again….”the road to Hell is paved with good INTENTIONS.” It’s not only the intentions of the heart but the DOING of those practices that is the ticket to Heaven. Faith without works is dead.(James) And the parable that Jesus told about the father who asked his two sons to go out and work the vineyards and one replied positively to his father, “YES”. But he did not go. The other son responded negatively to the father and said, “NO”. But later he went did as he was requested to do. Jesus asks this question……”Which of these did the will of the Father?” (Mat.21:28) So to “think good” and do nothing or worse yet DO wrong or (act fleshly) OR… to “not think about good, intentionally” but to DO GOOD when the opportunity arises (like the GOOD SAMARITAN); Like Jesus asks….”Which of these IS THE WILL OF THE FATHER?”
    KEEP DIGGING THE WELL OF KNOWLEDGE AND INSTRUCTION!!!

  9. There is no more beautiful verse than 35:20. I thank the Lord that He is my help and shield. What an awesome Lord we serve. Over the years I have felt the Lord’s tender touch through tears and laughter for me and for my friends. I am so amazed and overwhelmed by his tender mercies. One of my favorite songs is “What a Friend We Have In Jesus”. Just recently I heard Debi sing this song on her CD. It came when I needed it the most.

    1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
    all our sins and griefs to bear!
    What a privilege to carry
    everything to God in prayer!
    O what peace we often forfeit,
    O what needless pain we bear,
    all because we do not carry
    everything to God in prayer.

    2. Have we trials and temptations?
    Is there trouble anywhere?
    We should never be discouraged;
    take it to the Lord in prayer.
    Can we find a friend so faithful
    who will all our sorrows share?
    Jesus knows our every weakness;
    take it to the Lord in prayer.

    3. Are we weak and heavy laden,
    cumbered with a load of care?
    Precious Savior, still our refuge;
    take it to the Lord in prayer.
    Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
    Take it to the Lord in prayer!
    In his arms he’ll take and shield thee;
    thou wilt find a solace there.

    This song was first written as a poem by Joseph Sciven to his Mom who was facing a crisis. Sciven faced many tradegies in his life. His first fiancee drowned the day before their wedding. His second fiancee contracted tuberculois and died before their marriage.
    Although we may not have to face such tragedies, we do face many things that cause us to weep at the feet of Jesus. Thank you Jesus for always being there and taking us by the hand and carrying us forward in this dance of life. We thank YOU precious JESUS! Thank you that you are our partner in this dance of life.

  10. Yes, a friend indeed. He is a friend of help and encouragement as He reaches out and touches us through the life of others, like unto the writer of this song.

    He is touching me daily through all that participate on The Daily Lily on a daily basis. Like the light shining into darkness and the darkness comprehended it not. One never knows where The Light is going to go and how far reaching it will go. I wonder if Joseph Sciven knew when he wrote this for his Mom when facing a crisis that it would be posted on The Daily Lily for the worldwide to read. So are out words today being posted and we know not where they will shine.

    Eternal is The Light!

  11. Sara you asked is there a difference between think good and do good…I sometimes think we all try so hard to answer things which is good but sometimes it isnt as hard as one makes it to find or rather see the answer…we make it hard..why I just dont know….but this is the simple answer that I came up with after writing that very long one ….yes there is a difference….one is mental and one is physical…one you do with your mind…the other with your being/body/hands…..right?dj
