Is pride overtaking us? Why can’t we except Jesus for who He is? Why can’t we accept God’s Word for what it says? Why do we have to understand everything? Why do we try to change things we don’t understand so we can understand better? Are we so blinded by our prideful hearts that we can’t humble ourselves? Do we think we are smarter than God? Do we think we will get away with this? Adam and Eve didn’t. They could not hide from God in the Beginning. What makes us think we can hide from God near the end? WHO DO WE THINK WE ARE?
Every time I turn around, I’ve heard about a “New Religion” or “New Movement”. Why are we trying to change Jesus? Jesus is unchangeable. Hebrews 1: 11-12 “They will perish, but you remain forever. They will wear out like old clothing. You will fold them up like a cloak and discard them like old clothing. But you are always the same; you will live forever.” God’s Word is never changing. Mark 13:31 “Heaven and earth will disappear, but my Words will never disappear.” I can’t change our Lord, you can’t change our Lord, Oprah can’t change our Lord, not even the President of the United States can change our Lord. He is unchanging. Jesus is always the same. Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. So do not be attracted by strange, new ideas. (these will pass away) Your strength comes from God’s grace, not from rules about food, which don’t help those who follow them.”
Not one “Religious Leader” suffered and died on a wooden cross as the ultimate sacrifice. Not one “New Movement” leader will save us from HELL. Only Jesus! Only God’s Son! The ultimate sacrifice to save the world from our sins. No other! We need to get our information form God’s Word. If we don’t understand something we are reading, pray about it. Humble ourselves and pray for understanding. If it’s God’s will, He will reveal understanding to our hearts. If it’s not God’s will, we accept God’s Word for what it says. Don”t question it! Don’t try to figure it out! Don’t try to change it! JUST ACCEPT IT! This is called “WALKING BY FAITH”!
Accept Jesus for who He is! Accept God’s Word for what it says. “Walk by faith”! God loves us. He wants to have a relationship with us. He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, as the ultimate sacrifice. This is unchangeable, no matter what is said and done. We must be cautious about these “New Movements”, no matter how good they appear to be. There is only one way to get to heaven. “THROUGH THE UNCHANGEABLE JESUS CHRIST,” the Alpha and Omega! The Beginning and END! There is only one God and He is a jealous God. Joshua 24:19. “Then Joshua warned the people, “you are not able to serve the Lord, for He is a jealous God. He will not forgive your rebellion and your sins. If you abandon the Lord and serve other gods, He will turn against you and destroy you even though He has been so good to your.” Deuteronomy 5:9 “You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected – even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me.”
We better humble ourselves, get rid of our prideful hearts and walk by faith accepting Jesus Christ for who He is. UNCHANGEABLE…………

Amen and amen Chickenfarmer. I am confronted daily with the so called “New Movement”. Your right it will affect the children of those who choose to move and groove in this new movement from generation to generation.
Parents like the feel so good religion that makes them feel good, and they want it for their children. It’s time to face up to it. We are not good, we are filled with sin and God saw that from the beginning, yet He still loved us. Who could He find to pay the price for all the sins of the unruly people such as us, certainly not another sinful being. He sent his only SON Jesus who was without sin to carry the sin of the world on his shoulders and fight Satan to overcome so that we might not have an end to our being in hell, but have an entrance into heaven to see Father God who can not look upon sin. In other words, JESUS is the bridge or the key to allow us into HEAVEN. Remember, God sent HIS only son. ONLY SON, ONLY SON, because HE loved us so. HE saw his only SON on that cross and the blood of that only Son oozing out – the life blood of Jesus oozing out – blood which had no sin covering a multitude of sins. VOLUMES OF LOVE for US was poured out in this act.
Prideful souls take this act of God and ignore or deny that it ever happened, especially why it happened. God must sit and cry over such a stiff necked, prideful people as we. Reading the Old Testament one finds what God does with such stiff necked people who are self seeking and always looking for a new religion, a new idol to bow down to, and an item to predict the future so they can feel good. Destruction came instead of blessings. Blessings came to those who followed God, loved Him, and searched for Him. He in turn sought them out and
showered them with LOVE and trained them to be GODLY people. We must walk in Faith, loving the Lord our God, knowing that we are His children and that we come first in HIS thoughts when we seek and desire to follow after JESUS CHRIST.
Thank you GOD for sending JESUS CHRIST TO DIE FOR MY/OUR SINS. THANK YOU GOD THAT YOU ARE A LIVING GOD AND THAT YOUR ARE ACTIVELY WORKING IN OUR LIVES TODAY. MAY WE STAY ON YOUR PATH WHILE WE LIVE ON THIS EARTH and then WALK into heaven to see our Savior, JESUS CHRIST.
Yes Chickenfarmer, we have become a nation of people who are too big for our britches. Our forefathers surely would weep as they were willing and many did die so we could be “ONE NATION UNDER GOD.”
Chickenfarmer, I love this blog. I had a sort of confrontation concerning this on a plane (as a captive audience, so to speak) a few years ago with a man who was spouting forth his particular form of religion where he was attempting to use LOGIC to explain why God can only be ONE UNIT. He kept saying, “use your common sense, MG” There cannot be three Gods. Does it make any sense that GOD could be three? Use your logic” He kept trying to resolve the MYSTERY or the Mystical Properties of the GODHEAD with his mind.
It’s just as you wrote, CF. Woe to them who try to justify their god with their minds and intellect. Who wants a GOD who can only and entirely be defined by our pea-brained thinking and shrunken minds? In that case, we can be our own gods.
The LORD GOD said almost the same thing in one of the Scriptures, that because He had not brought immediate judgment upon some, that they thought HE was entirely just like them and they became gods unto themselves in their own eyes. Some still do that, these days.
But His Words will not pass away, as you indicated above.
The New Wave, The New Age are nothing but the OLD DECEPTION. Satan’s got nothing, nothing new at all, ever!!!

Lord, give us wisdom and courage to stand against the enemy of our souls, and lean on the promises of Your Word that says: “Resist the devil and he will flee from you”.
Reading Chickenfarmer’s question “Are we too big for our britches” and reading each one’s comments brought to mind the scripture in Matt 7:13,14 about the two gates. There were two gates in Jesus time also…a wide one for people who were too big for their britches and a narrow one for those who were not and could bend down to enter in. The wide way was like the ‘new way’ that lead to a final destination of hell. Apparently many people choose this gate or had to go through this way because they wouldn’t ‘fit’ through that narrow yet true gate. Not many people made it through the gate that led them down the road to Heaven. Jesus told them that He was the gate in John 10:7-9 and that if anyone entered through Him they would be saved. And like chickenfarmer told us, He is still saying the same thing today…He hasn’t changed.
Amen Chickenfarmer!, and Right on Needles!….here is another thing to beware of….READ This scripture 2 John 1:7……There are a lot of smooth-talking charlatans loose in the world who refuse to believe that Jesus Christ was truly human, a flesh and blood human being. Give them their true title: Deceiver! Antichrist!..And be very careful around them so you don’t lose out on what we’ve worked so diligently in together, I want you to get every reward you have coming to you. Anyone who gets so progressive in his thinking that he walks out on the teaching of Christ, walks out on God. But whoever stays with the teaching, stays faithful to both the Father and the Son. If anyone shows up who doesn’t hold to this teaching, don’t invite him in and give him the run of the place. That would just give him a platform to perpetuate his evil ways, making you his partner…….(the Message Bible/Remix)….(my thinking…so when we turn on the TV, radio, magazines..inviting them in..we are partners)….ouch!
Jesus and the Cross is a subject near and dear to my heart, as I am sure it is with many of you.
I, like many, want to learn new things and have a deeper relationship with God. But, in doing so, it is difficult many times to discern truth. Like millions, I have been interested in the Oprah movement. She has great shows and gives lots of good info and for some financial gain,
I have been interested in listening to a teacher, Marianne Williams, that Oprah has asked this year to teach “A course in Miracles”. Marianne is a great speaker. But, in saying this I would like to share with you info that I found on the internet in reference to this course and Oprah’s involvement. I would like your thoughts on this?
“In 1965, Helen Schucman, an associate professor of medical psychology appointed to the faculty of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, experienced a series of particularly vivid dreams. Soon thereafter, she began to hear a “Voice” she identified as Jesus which would speak to her whenever she was prepared to listen. Schucman reported that she heard from the Voice the words, “This is a course in miracles. Please take notes.” Schucman then began to write down what she described as a form of “rapid inner dictation.”
The text of the book “A Course in Miracles” is the product of seven years of the scribing of an inner voice by a Mrs. Helen Schucman. The spirit that channeled a “new gospel” to Mrs. Schucman claimed to be Jesus Christ. The “spirit” made contact with her to correct errors in Sacred Scripture, and the teachings of the Church. The “spirit” that channeled through Mrs. Schucman wrote that Sacred Scripture was in error in teaching us that sin separates us from God, and that Jesus Christ did not die on the cross for our sins.”
” In 1995, the printing and distribution of the work was licensed to Penguin Books for five years.The teachings of the book have been supported by such mainstream commentators as Oprah Winfrey in her interviews with author Marianne Williamson, and are supported by some “New Thought” churches such as the Association of Unity Churches.”
When Oprah gives her plugs for Marianne, she tells how she went to church for years but the preacher preached God is a jealous God and she would question the minister and they could not explain to her satisfaction this theory. But, she has found her answers in “The Course of Miracles.”
I have been thinking about Chickenfarmer’s blog and Oprah’s movements both spiritually and politically. I wonder, does Christianity ie Jesus Christ being the sacrificial slain lamb for our sins, Jesus Christ, God’s only son, being the only way to God, Our Father believing this is what Chickenfarmer wrote, join hands with the “Course in Miracles?” If not, how can we effectively speak with our many dear friends and family that believe they are one of the same. I understand that if Oprah, Marianne, and others believe this gospel, that is their right. But, we likewise have a right and responsibility to speak up, like Wendy, when we feel we differ in our beliefs.
Jesus told us in Matthew 18:3 “Then he said, ‘I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven.”We must have faith in God and
His Word!
Over in Matthew 7:15,”Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves.” Then in Matthew 10:16 “Look, I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. So be as shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves.” Read with me the footnotes on verse
16…..” The opposition of the Pharisees would be like ravaging wolves. The disciples’ only hope would be to look to their Shepherd for protection. We may face similar hostility. Like the disciples, we are not to be sheep like in our attitude but sensible and prudent. We are not to be gullible pawns, but neither are we to be deceitful connivers. We must find a balance between wisdom and vulnerability to accomplish God’s work.
The whole NEW TESTAMENT is filled with Jesus Christ’s admonishing people to “go and sin no more.” In John 5:14, Jesus Christ tells the man upon whom HE has just performed A MIRACLE…”See, you have been healed. Now stop SINNING or something worse may happen to you.” In John 6:11, Jesus Christ says to the woman brought before Him as an adulterer, “Go and SIN no more”. John the Baptist says of Jesus Christ, “Behold the Lamb of God WHO TAKETH AWAY THE SIN of the world”(John 1:29)
The whole Old Testament tells the story of God’s people SINNING against HIM even though He fed them manna from Heaven, (A MIRACLE). And, they never became ill and their clothes did not wear out for forty years….MIRACLE. But because of SIN they could NOT enter the Promised Land.
YES! God performs miracles. Jesus Christ performs miracles. He often uses His people through whom He works His miracles. But SALVATION is HIS greatest miracle. For He has offered Himself on a Cross, giving the supreme sacrifice…the laying down of one’s life to bring the reconciliation for HIS FRIENDS to HIS FATHER GOD. And then rising again on the third day to ratify the covenant of everlasting life between HIM and those who will ever accept His sacrifice on the cross until the day of Judgment.
One has to be in deep deception and even worse…. self-deception to ignore or repudiate the concise and focused message of the WORD OF GOD, OLD AND NEW TESTAMENTS. Man is a sinner. Jesus Christ is the Savior. Man needs Jesus Christ. There is no other way man can be saved. Anyone who enters the sheepfold by another gate is a thief and a robber.
Today is the day of salvation. Receive Jesus; Believe Jesus. Don’t deceive. Your life depends on it.
Needles, the first part of the scripture you share with us above really stands out to me “…I tell you the truth…” The words of Jesus Himself. And chickenfarmer told us above to ‘just accept it’. I read in 2 Thess.: 9-12 that God will send strong delusion on those who do not love His truth so they might be saved. Instead they will believe these lies and deception from Satan himself who exhibits power, signs and lying wonders. Afterall, ‘Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.'(2 Cor. 11:14). The Apostle Paul in 2 Cor 11:3 warned Christians about Satan’s craftiness. Chickenfarmer told us Adam and fell for it and then couldn’t hide their sin. Paul fears deception for us also that our minds might get corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ (2 Cor 11:3).
What a blessing to have The Daily Lily with its blogs and comments like these to expose darkness and help keep us walking in the light of the true gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Chickenfarmer you asked ‘Who do we think we are?” You talk about pride, hiding from God, rebellion, and downright hard-headedness when it comes to accepting what God says. Sara called this ‘stubborness’ (in her blog “Stubborness vs Wisdom”), a deadly sin linked to witchcraft and one that will cause God to reject us if we reject His word and accepting/doing what He says to do.
A gentlemen that we spoke with today told us that placed on the platform in the church, this morning, were two books. The minister told them that one represented the BOOK OF LIFE and the other THE BOOK OF DEATH. Which one do you want to be in or do you think you are written in?
That got me to thinking about the BOOK of Life. I believe if we polled people in most communities or even church people, most would say, ‘The Book of Life’. I would, too.
But I was thinking that God made it very clear in His book the HOLY BIBLE what the stipulations were for having one’s name in the Book of Life, the Lamb’s Book of Life and destined for the Kingdom of Heaven.
In the Book of Revelation 20:12, John writes,” I saw the dead, great and small and they stood before the Throne, and the books were opened; then another BOOK which is the BOOK of Life. And the dead were judged and sentenced by what they had thought and done, their life-styles, motives and works as recorded about them in the BOOK.
And if anyone’s name was NOT recorded in the Book they were thrown into the Lake of Fire. Then in chapter 21: 27, John writes about those who will NOT enter the Kingdom of Heaven. No one that defiles, or commits unclean acts or that is morally detestable or repugnant or lies and tells falsehoods whose names are not written in the Book of Life….shall not enter the Kingdom of God.
In the Book of Galatians 5:19, Paul reiterates what John has seen, heard and written in Revelation. Paul says that those who practice any of these obvious SINS of the flesh: immorality, indecency, idolatry,, impurity, sorcery and witchcraft, anger, wrath, heresies, envy, drunkenness, carousing, the telling of lies, exaggerations and divisions, cheaters, gossipers,…I warn you, beforehand, says Paul, those that do these things will NOT inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.”
But Jesus Christ, King and Savior, made it very clear in the Gospels that to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven, ‘you must be born again.’ John 3:5-6, for unless a man be born of water and of the SPIRIT, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God. Clear and simple.
And God in His great mercy and love also tells us the kind of life of the Holy Spirit we must lead in order to be written up in the Book of Life. In Gal 5:22, it says, “But the fruit of the Holy Spirit, the work which the presence of the Holy Spirit withing us accomplishes is:
love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, humility, faithfulness, benevolence, gentleness, meekness and self-control. No one can bring a charge against these glorious virtues of the Spirit.
So in conclusion, those who do not walk by the Spirit of the Living God will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. Or if they follow a false spirit masquerading as Holy Spirit or Jesus or angels, and allow themselves to be deceived…they will NOT enter the Kingdom.
God has presented His plan in black and white, good and evil, right and wrong. Almighty God says, “This day I have set before you Life and Death. CHOOSE LIFE!”
AMEN!! AMEN!!!! Amen to Sara, Debi, Rena, Dorothy, Needles and MG!!! This a very serious situation. We need to handle this situation with lots of prayer. People are being decieved by satan daily. Everyday these people are getting closer and closer to hell. They will be tossed into the fire just like weeds. They will be tortured for eternity. We need to pray daily for satan’s deception to be revealed. Pray that our Lord Jesus Christ, opens these blind eyes so they can see the truth. Pray hard!! Pray that these false teachings are revealed, before it’s too late. Lord help these people. MG states above: Almighty God says,”This day I have set before you LIFE and DEATH.” I CHOOSE LIFE!!!
Chickenfarmer, you are right, this is serious. I see it as a warning and great opportunity to share our Faith with others. The doors are now open. The Apostle Paul prayed and asked the church to pray for doors of opportunity to be opened to him and for boldness to speak the truth.
You, Chickenfarmer said we need to “pray daily for Satan’s deception to be revealed…(see above quote).”
I pray as the Apostle Paul prayed… I am praying for each of us that we would have the boldness to speak up, the courage to walk through the doors that have been opened to us and the passion and the fire of The Holy Spirit to be part of lighting the candle of others so they too will have ‘The Light’ of John I to see and live by.
We have so long awaited for this opportunity and it is here. The now moment for each of us to shine our lights into darkness. Take time and enjoy the simplicity of life making time to be a friend to others. One of my very favorites’ John 15:15 “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.” Pause and think for a brief moment of helping a friend know and understand all that you have come to know and understand about Jesus, His love, His power, His goodness, His mercy and grace, His truth that will set them free from untruths. I pray we will be a friend to someone(s) today and each day as we shine light where it needs to shine.

Timidity is a selfish and fleshly characteristic. Those who are intimidated by another’s reaction when attempting to
speak the Truth of the Gospel to someone, proves Sara’s point. We do not have the love of God in us but are unduly concerned about our own egos and rejection. Jesus says, “they have not rejected you , but Me.” He just asks us to speak the truth. He’s done all the leg work. Picking up our cross and carrying it for the day involves taking it into the Harvest Fields where the Kingdom of God is still under construction and bringing the Good News of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Intimidation is FEAR and Fear is the opposite of faith. So if we are intimidated by every Ann, Jane and Susie, we are living a life of fear and unbelief. We do not trust that Holy Spirit will do the drawing if we give the message. We are not relying on The Holy Spirit if we are afraid of speaking the truth to someone, whether a stranger or worse yet, a family member. But perfect love casts out fear and intimidation. When you regard the other person more highly than yourself and from a guileless heart you share the truth, whatever it may be, because you want what Sara pointed out before…above all things for that person to be set free…because you love his or her soul like Christ does. then the intimidation will leave. Your approach will be appropriate and your outcome will be successful for the Kingdom.
Like Chickenfarmer says, “who do we think we are?” Get off our high horses and get to work.
what can I say?……Ill say this …they have the O for Oprah…..we have the O for Omega…who is also the Alpha, the Almighty God, the Prince of Peace, the Everlasting Father, The IAM, the I AM He that Liveth and Was Dead,,,and Behold IAM Alive forever more…and I have the Keys of Hell and of Death……IAM the Door….and No Man can come to The Father but by ME…..IAM Life….The for sinners sacrificed….A Holy Sacrifice…Behold the Lamb that taketh away the Sin of the World……I Am God there is none else….The Word…The Living Word….The Bread of Heaven….Jesus….The Bible (Read it!).(dj)
