Light vs. Darkness

He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light. Daniel 2:22 NLT

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Hebrews 4:13

This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 1 John 1:5

He reveals the deep things of darkness and brings deep shadows into the light. Job 12:22

Can anyone hide in secret places so that I cannot see him?” declares the LORD. “Do not I fill heaven and earth?” declares the LORD. Jeremiah 23:24

How many ways can you think of where God has given you light on what seemed like a dark situation?

I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors, for you have given me wisdom and strength. You have told me what we asked of you and revealed to us what the king demanded. Daniel 2:23 NLT

And, did you pause to thank Him? Did you share this light with delight as Daniel has shared his wisdom for all to read ? Hopefully, we will experience the same joy and wisdom as Daniel and the King. We all need light on all decision making, don’t we?

  1. I thought about this’ intermittently’ through Saturday night. I jumped up and began to give thanks and praise for the wisdom answers I have been given in just the last few days on a number of issues. I thank the Holy Spirit for the answers and now pray and hope that I will remember and walk them out according to the wisdom I have been given.

Sharing info as Daniel, King and team did can bring the answers with power!

  2. The first thing I thought about when contemplating Sara’s question is how God, by His Holy Spirit, shed light into my darkened soul and brought salvation and deliverance into my life, changing it forever.
” I once was blind but now I see”, sings the hymn AMAZING GRACE. What new vistas of amazement opened up to me in what I had considered was a ‘cool” smug, self-satisfied, almost haughty life-style that I had carved out for myself. When my eyes were opened to the LIGHT of GOD’S WORD and SPIRIT it was the most startling, thrilling event of my life and I entered into a marvelous new world of light and grace and blessing and compassion and Love and TRUTHl
God continues to shine His light of Truth into my being as I read the Word and study under great teachers. He continues to open up to me His will for my life. That ugly, gloomy, miry, caustic, phony, artificial, devious life is less than NOTHING..like Paul says, TRASH, compared to the glory of the Light of God’s Word and revelation.
I, too, jump with joy and praise for the Work of GOD’S light in my life and spirit and will thank Him for all eternity for sending the TRUTH of the Gospel…that Jesus loves me, this I know for the Bible tells me so. It’s not just a kids’ song. It is Biblical fact.

  3. Another scenario when the Light of Jesus Christ and His word illumines my darkness is when strong temptation comes to thwart ones walk, or take me down. Jesus said he would never leave nor forsake us. When that darkness tries to overcome the soul with things contrary to the Word of God or to the voice of God….just like Jesus did in the wilderness when satan tried to tempt HIM…I cry out to the Lord and speak His Word against the situation…resist the darkness and when I am persistent, it will flee. Jesus has proven Himself faithful, in being the ROCK of our salvation to Whom we can flee and in Whom we can hide. He is the LIVING WORD.
If only we could believe that He will always stand by us when we cry out to Him to shine His light on our darkened areas…..He drives out corruption
    with His light.

  4. Lately God has shown light in the darkness in someone around me. I may
have ignored these signs for many years hoping it wasn’t true. I kept busy with
teaching and staying extended hours after school and spending hours at
swim meets, I put off looking at darkness. I even took on more work of which
I enjoyed, teaching Sunday School. My life was full but the darkness was
still there. Then one day the Lord gave me a dream and said, such and such is
like this exposed politician. I didn’t even know the name of that person, but I
had a friend who knew. I became worried, but I knew that God would take care of me and give me wisdom as what to do. Then God showed me the darkness again. It was right before my eyes on the computer. I couldn’t deny it was real, the truth was that it was very dark. Then God gave me another dream that the darkness would be exposed and I would see the exposure. Judgment would come. I know that 2 Timothy 2: 25-26 says, those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them in a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will. We pray that this person will repent and all others who are caught in darkness will repent.
I thank God that He was persistent and showed me without a doubt that the
darkness was real and needed to go from me and my family.

Please pray for my wisdom and strength as I walk through this road of darkness with a heart of hope.

  5. Anonymous, I do pray and agree with you for wisdom and strength as you walk this road.
I know for myself that the crossroads of indecision and or uncertainty over the years have felt dark and stressful. When I cried out to God for help and direction in many situations I may not have always heard His voice directly like Daniel, but He has answered me often through the wise counsel of Sara and for that I am so grateful.

  6. Facing our darkness seems so hard. Yet, it is our big step to admitting the darkness which you have done so very well. Then comes change and that is the freedom we look, long and hope for.

We never know or have to know what another might do in their faith walk for us to make changes. We need to know ourselves and what we desire to do. May this community of believers in Jesus Christ rally around you and for you as you walk out of darkness into His marvelous light. The Light is there for us. What hope that gives us.

“He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light.” Daniel 2:22 NLT And, Jesus, The Light, came that you would have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10, ESV)

  7. Anonymous,

After reading your above comments. I began to search God’s Word. The word that comes to my mind is….TRUTH. God’s Word tells us in John 8:32, “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” I have heard this scripture a lot, and have often been told, “that the truth hurts”. Well, the truth does hurt sometimes, but God sure promises that truth is what sets us free. I pray that God will continue to surround you, with His love, strength, and wisdom. I would like to offer up a prayer, for the person around you. I pray God has mercy on them, and that God’s Holy Spirit will impress upon them, to turn from this darkness. In Jesus name, Amen.
Please be encouraged today, knowing that our God is still on the throne, and still in the business of hearing and answering our prayers. God bless you.

  8. Thank you so much for wonderful prayers and encouragement. I will keep my eyes focused on Jesus and wait and see what the next step he will have for me to do in this situation. Thanks to all. So comforting is the outreach in prayer from you.

  9. Dear Anonymous,

I lift you and the one in darkness up to the Lord, from whom comes your help. May He be in every segment of your life, encouraging you that their is light at the end of this situation. May you be encouraged. Remember (Isaiah 41: 10) Fear not, for I Am your God. I will strength you, Yes, I will HELP you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
Know that Psalms 32: 8 says I (God will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.: Know that the one who is in darkness the Bible says, “He who covers his sins will not proper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy. (Proverbs 28: 13) This I pray that this person will come to the place where he desires to stop covering his sin and confess. Our God is a loving and forgiving God. Know God is Able (this is from some versus by Smokie Norful)
ponder them in your heart:God is able,God is able
God is able and He won’t fail

    He won’t fail
    He won’t fail
    Don’t you dare give up
    Don’t you dare give in
    God wont fail

    God is able,God is able
Telling you God is able and He won’t
    no…God won’t,He won’t fail

    God won’t,He’ll never leave
    Never forsake you
    No He won’t fail
He’ll be there till the end

    What a MIGHTY GOD!
Remember God will always be there for you! He has shown you the darkness by exposing it to you so you will lift the person to HIM. The person has to make a choice and we can not make it for them.
Lift and let God do the rest.

  10. Facing the darkness and exposing it is the first step to dispersing it and lifting it from around you. Jesus told one of His modern day prophets, which she published in a book ‘How I long to hold My people in My arms, close to My heart. I long to embrace them and comfort them and that they find safety in My arms’. In the scriptures Jesus said, “Jerusalem, Jerusalem. How often i have longed to take you under My wings as mother hen covers her chicks AND YOU WOULD NOT!!” Oh Jesus, take our anonymous friend under Your wings and console and comfort this person. It is what You long to do for Your people who are hurting and facing the darkness. As this beloved person goes through the fire, please take them under Your wings and protect them from evil as You asked Your Heavenly Father in the Lord’s Prayer. Amen

  11. It is also good to know that if we will come to the Light we can be forgiven and cleansed, have a hope and future and be put in right relationship with God and others because of the work of Jesus on the cross.
“But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.” I John 1:7

  12. A. From reading your story it seems taking on too many task may be a warning sign to pause and seek help. I believe your story could serve as a help to others to ask themselves, why am I overdoing? I hear so many peopler confess to filling their day with so much busy-busy they do not have time to fill their soul.

  13. True, Sara. I heard a commercial the other day that says, to the effect, what is the first thing you must do when you have dug yourself into a hole? STOP DIGGING! And that seems to me to equate with those of us who do not want to or cannot face the darkness so they pile more and more busy-ness upon themselves not realizing that it just keeps getting darker and darker. Jesus said in Luke 11, “No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead he puts it on its stand, so that those who come in may see light.
.”Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are bad, your body also is full of darkness. See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be completely lighted, as when the light of a lamp shines on you.” (Luke 11)
But if your eye is evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
But one might say, how did my eyes ever become darkened without my really realizing it? Jesus gives us the clue when He says in Matthew 5 & 6.. and this is a veritable truth…(6:24) “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will be devoted to one and despise, shrink from and shun the other. You can’t serve both God and Mammon.
Work is a good thing. But when it obfuscates one’s spiritual life and LIGHT then we are serving an idol and we are narcissistic in attitude.

  14. Idolizing something whether work or play or busyness or idleness indicates also that priorities are out of place and lives are out of order. Jesus had this to say about following order and Who’s order to follow:
“Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat—I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. What good would it do to get everything you want and lose you, the real you? If any of you is embarrassed with me and the way I’m leading you, know that the Son of Man will be far more embarrassed with you when he arrives in all his splendor in company with the Father and the holy angels.” Luke 9:23-27

  15. Ephesians 5:6-14 “6 Don’t be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the anger of God will fall on all who disobey him. 7 Don’t participate in the things these people do. 8 For once you were full of darkness, but now you have the light from the Lord. So live as people of light! 9 For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true. 10 Carefully determine what pleases the Lord. 11 Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them. 12 It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people so in secret. 13 But their evil intentions will be exposed when the light shines on them, 14 for the light makes everything visible. This is why it is said, “Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light.”

I too agree on the above prayers. I also want to Praise the Lord for His amazing and wonderful light that shines on His children. I was once blinded by the darkness but now Christ has given me light. Thank you Lord for your mercy, grace and forgiveness.

2Corinthians 6:14-17 “14 Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? 15 What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever? 16 And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God said: ” I will live in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 17 Therefore come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord. Don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you. 18 And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

Psalms 18:28 “You light a lamp for me. The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness.”

Thank you Lord for your glorious LIGHT!!

  16. Cf, love your scriptures. Q for you…how does one handle ‘come out’ if darkness is wife/husband or other family member?

  17. Sara,

At the time I didn’t think of the busyness as a warning sign. I thought of it as part of what I had to do. Only now do I see that it was a warning sign. I should have dwelt with the problem when I had a hint that something was amiss. It didn’t go away. It affected everyone – children especially. God in his mercy, maybe it is not too late for them.

  18. In my study this morning I read Romans 1: 18-25 NIV From the Application Study Bible footnotes of Romans 1: 21-32 says: Paul clearly portrays the inevitable downward spiral into sin. First people reject God, next they make up their own ideas of what a god should be and do; then they fall into every kind of wickedness, greed hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. Finally, they grow to hate God and encourage others to do so. God does not cause this steady progression toward evil. Rather, when people reject him, he allows them to live as they choose. Give gives them over to or permits them to experience the natural consequences of their sin. Once caught in the downward spiral, no one can pull himself or herself out. Sinners must trust Christ alone to deliver them from destruction.

1:23 When Paul says that people worshiped idols made to look like people or animals instead of worshiping God, he seems to deliberately state people’s wickedness in terms used in the Genesis narrative of Adams Fall. When people worship the creature instead of the Creator, they lose sight of their own identity as those who are higher than the animals – made in the image of God.
1:24-32 These people chose to reject God, and God allowed them to do it. God does not usually stop us from making wrong choices. He lets us choose independence from him, even though he knows that in time we will become slaves to our own rebellious life-style and lose our freedom not to sin. Does life without God look like freedom to you? Look more closely. There is no worse slavery than slavery to sin.
1: 25 People tend to believe lies that reinforce their own selfish personal beliefs.
Today more than ever we need to know what the basis for our beliefs. With TV, music, movies,(internet) and the rest of the media often presenting sinful lifestyles and unwholesome values, we find ourselves constantly bombarded by attitudes and beliefs that are totally opposed to the Bible. Be careful about what influences you use to form you opinion. The Bible is the only standard of truth. Evaluate all other opinions in light of its teachings.

When you see someone in your family come to this point, what do you do?

  19. Dear Anonymous,

When I was going through a similar circumstance and am still going through a dear friend of mine quoted this scripture to me: Psalm 46:10 (New International Version)

    10 “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”

Fear not and hold on to him. She also said, “Wait, be quiet and see what God can do.” I wait upon HIM, God Almighty, and continue to pray.

Last night I ran across a sermon by Spurgeon, “Israel at the Red Sea” The one section that touched my heart, I have copied for you:

Thy greatest refuge, O child of God! in all thy trials, is in a man: not in Moses, but in Jesus; not in the servant, but in the master. he is interceding for thee, unseen and unheard by thee, even as Moses did for the children of Israel. If thou couldst but, in the dim distance, catch the sweet syllables of his voice as they distil from his lips, and see his heart as it speaks for thee, thou wouldst take comfort; for God hears that man when he pleads. He can overcome every difficulty. He has not a rod, but a cross, which can divide the Red sea; he has not only a cloudy pillar of forgiving grace, which can dim the eyes of your foes and keep them at a distance; but he has a cross, which can open the Red sea and drown thy sins in the very midst. He will not leave thee. Look! on yonder rock of heaven he stands, cross in hand, even as Moses with his rod. Cry to him, for with that uplifted cross he will cleave a path for thee, and guide thee through the sea; he will make those hoary floods, which had been friends for ever, and stand asunder like foes. Call to him, and he will make thee a way in the midst of the ocean, and a path through the pathless sea. Cry to him, and there shall not a sin of thine be left alive; he will sweep them all away; and the king of sin, the devil, he too shall be overwhelmed beneath the Saviour’s blood, whilst thou shalt sing—
“Hell and my sins obstruct my path,
    But hell and sin are conquer’d foes;
My Jesus nailed them to his cross,
And sang the triumph as he rose.”

Still look thou to that man who once on Calvary died!

  20. 1 Corinthians 7:12-16 “12 Now, I will speak to the rest of you, though I so not have a direct command from the Lord. If a Christian man has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to continue to live with him , he must not leave her. 13 And if a Christian woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to continue living with her, she must not leave him. 14 For the Christian wife brings holiness to her marriage, and the Christian husband brings holiness to his marriage. Otherwise, your children would not be holy, but now they are. 15(But if the husband or wife who isn’t a believer insist on leaving, let them go. In such cases the Christian husband or wife is no longer bound to the other, for God has called you to live in peace.) 16 Don’t you wives realize that your husbands might be saved because of you? Don’t you husbands realize that your wives might be saved because of you?”

It is very difficult for a believer to life with a nonbeliever. The believer must stay consistant with their relationship with God. They must always seek him for strength and wisdom. They must always be aware of their surroundings, so they won’t be lead into the darkness themselves. We must remember this is a spiritual battle not one of flesh and blood. Believers must becareful not to become bitter and hard hearted to the nonbeliever. Vengence is the Lords not ours. It only destroys us when we hold grudges. The believer must set boundaries and not cross them. The boundaries must be known by the nonbeliever. The believer must live a Godly life ever behind close doors, in their own home. A true test of our Walk with Christ. To be a Christian in our own home, not just outside our homes.
We must stay consistant with our focus on Christ!!!!!

  21. CF, let us rethink. We have in these situations two believers. And, one living a secret life in darkness. How does one deal with that?

  22. Sara, to reply to your question, I can only relate a similar situation like that which occurred with a Christian friend of mine. And this is just one example with whcih I am familiar. When the darkness in the spouse-believer so increased my friend took the child and quietly left the residence going to live temporarily with a strong older couple in church leadership, informing the spouse the reasons for the separation.
My friend sought Christian couseling for herself, the child and brought the spouse before the elders of the church for counseling. At ALL times my friend followed the biblical counsel of the elders, prayed, fasted often and offered reconciliation if and when the spouse would repent, change the behavior and make a contract before the elders of the church.
This is just one report, but the outcome after almost a year was an amazing recovery of the relationship and reconciliation with the Lord God Almighty which to this day is still strong and growing. I noted that at all times, my friend was obedient to the godly counsel even though at times it was hurtful to the heart and difficult to the mind. But God blessed the obedience of my friend and restoration and redemption was the and is the outcome. Praise God.

  23. Read with me, 1Corinthians 5:11, “I meant that you are not to associate with anyone who claims to be a believer yet indulges in sexual sin, or is greedy, or worships idols, or is abusive, or is a drunkard, or cheats people. Don’t even eat with such people.”

  24. MG, your friend has a great testimony…The word of our testimony is one of our ultimate weapons. I know that if it one repents and turns their hearts to the Lord it is a blessing. But, it also is a blessing to the one that does the right thing regardless of what the other one does.

Needles, reading the words of Paul you have posted should awaken the church from slumber and sleep.

  25. Regarding the verse Needles quoted: we may say we abhor or condemn the sins of this verse in a fellow believer but if we are reaping some dividends from the sins indirectly (funds to live on from the cheater’s gains; flowers from the abuser when they are in the remorseful cycle; a glass of wine from the drunkard’s bottles; etc) we may be slow to disassociate and may even look the other way because change may disrupt this comfort zone.

  26. Hebrews 10:26-31 “Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have recieved knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins. 27 There is only the terrible expectation of God’s judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies. 28 For anyone who refused to obey the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 Just think how much worse the punishment will be for those who have trampled on the Son of God, and have treated the blood of the covenant, which made us holy, as if it were common and unholy, and have insulted and disdained the Holy Spirit who brings God’s mercy to us. 30 For we know the one who said,
“I will take revenge. I will pay them back.” He also said, “The Lord will judge his own people.” 31 It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the loving God.”

James 1:14-15 “14 Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. 15 These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.”
We must be cautious in our own life not to let sin grow in our minds and hearts.

God has set boundaries for His children to live by and when they refuse to stay in the boundaries set before them, God will punish them. We as believers must also set Godly boundaries in our relationship with our spouse, children, family member, friend etc. If there is someone in our live that refuses to stay in the boundaries, there will be consequences. MG’s friend had a very difficult situation in her life. She handled the situation according to God’s word. She fasted and prayed, she moved out, she went before the elders of the church, she sought Christian counseling for her and her child. Her spouse knew he was wrong, she told him why she was leaving and she left. Her spouse knew if his behavior didn’t change, he would lose his family. I’m sure it was hard for her to step out of her confort zone and to work so hard at doing what is right in a bad situation. God blessed her. Her family was restored. If she would have stayed and ignored the issue, it would have gotten worse and it would have never stopped, because there was no conseqences for her husband’s sinful behavior. She would be a codependant for her husband. Allow him to continue sinning without consequences. We can not control anyone or anything but we have to hold each other accountable. We have to set boundaries and when they are not honored we have to act. We have to counsel with God and seek Him first. We must handle this carefully and we must allow the Holy Spirit to lead us. We are fighting a dark spirit and we must fight spirit to spirit. Allow God to lead will lead to victory.

Galatians 6:1 “Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall in to the same temptation yourself.” When we help another believer in a sin trap, we must not rely on our wisdom but we must get the wisdom we need to be effective from God’s Holy Word..

  27. I love this prayer from Happy Home P. H. Church ‎”Lord, release your grace to affect the hearts of those who have stony places in them. Work your faith into their souls. And explode your love in their hearts.”

  28. Very interesting story, Sara, on the link. I still believe, and this is just my thoughts but I have heard my good church leaders teach this….they still need godly counseling and someone to be accountable to. Yes there is a lesson taught in the episode, but the consequences of the sin(s) his & hers leave wounds that satan can pick away at. The counsel and the accountability should go on for a time. I recall the interview with one of God’s ministers who ‘fell” under the spell of lust. This person said when questioned about it…that they had not had a lustful thought for a couple of weeks, or whatever time line they gave. When Humpty Dumpty has a great fall, all the king’s horses and all the king’s men cannot put Humpty together again….but the KING of KINGS can.

  29. The story is a good example of the importance of having boundaries and avoiding even the appearance of sin. Like Song of Solomon 2:15 says…its the ‘little foxes that spoil the vines.’

  30. Sara, This story of Tye Tribbett is an epidemic around the world. Satan is throwing out every trap he’s got to the Godly and the Ungodly. We hear about this same story in many situations. Doesn’t matter if they are Pastor, in the choir, an officer of the church, running for office in the government, ect…. Anyone can be affected by this trap. It is so important that we stay away from those situations from the beginning. We need to pray that God will help us to stay focused on Him and not our surroundings. Joycer Myers stated that lust has no conscience.

  31. The answer is ‘blowing in the wind’ the Wind of the Holy Spirit, that is. Those who are led by the Spirit of the living God are the sons of God. As Sara said above, the Laws have been written on the tablets of their hearts and that is the only answer to victory over lust, greed, power mongering, jealousy, larcenous hearts and hypocrisy in God’s people. Approximately 5000-6000 years ago the Lord God made a covenant with His people and gave them a way to keep covenant with Him. Later He sent His Son Jesus Christ to fulfill that Covenant and to install, seal and enact a new and better covenant, placing the Holy Spirit within each believer to aid, assist and help them keep the New Covenant . These are the two great commandments. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your strength and the second, being like it…love your neighbor as yourself. That is the answer.

  32. We sure need to be lead by The Holy Spirit…John 14 gives us such a beautiful story of The Holy Spirit as comforter, teacher. and guide.

Gary DeLashmutt, Bible Teacher, explains our helper; “The Helper is the Holy Spirit (John 14:16:13; 14:26). The Holy Spirit is not an impersonal spiritual frequency we tune into, or some spiritual force we learn to use–the Holy Spirit is a Person (why “he” as opposed to “it”) who thinks, wills, and feels. The Holy Spirit is in fact God, just as the Father and Jesus are God (why Jesus calls him “another Helper of the same kind as me.

Broadly speaking, each of these three Persons plays a specific role in salvation: the Father initiates and oversees it, Jesus actually accomplishes it through his incarnation, death and resurrection–and the Holy Spirit applies it to those who receive it.”

As we strive to learn and seek God for ways out of darkness or to help others come out of darkness let us remember the power of prayer in team with the Holy Spirit:
ROMANS 8:26 NKJ “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

  33. Gary also gave us the truth about the Trinity in his series KNOWING GOD. In a similar fashion as Sara commented, Gary taught: ‘Father God proposes; Son of God secures it (by His death & resurrection) and Holy Spirit applies it to our lives.’
But WE have to take that application and utilize it. Holy Spirit can speak to us all day (and sometimes all night) about, say, our temper, or a reaction or what decision we should make at a moment in our day, or how or the moment to pray.
He can encourage us, prompt us, remind us, recall for us, nudge us…but WE have to do it. He cannot and will not make us do it. He is, as Sara wrote, our Helper. Even though He knows what to pray for with groanings and utterances, He uses Our voices and our tongues and our lips and our hearts, to do that intercession.
Thank You Holy Trinity for Your “apps” that work for our efficiency in the Kingdom of God.

  34. Well, I hear firms talking about selling special or certain “applications” (apps) for cells or computers or ipads or iphones, etc. that enable that computer to do special job or work, or enhance its output, etc and I just likened that to what the Holy Spirit does for those of us who have received Him through the salvation of Jesus Christ. He “applies” or has or gives “applications” for us which enable us and endue us with the power to accomplish certain missions, or works. Jesus told His disciples before He left to tarry until they are endued with the power from on high, which was the power of the Holy Spirit baptism of fire in the book of Acts. I called those the Special “applications” of the Holy Spirit. “Not by power, not by might but by My Spirit says the Lord of Hosts.”

  35. Well, I don’t believe HE is a Computer Programmer…I was just using that as a, well, …..like a parable. I just called His “applying” Power apps in the vernacular. I would not want to grieve HIM.

  36. Yes!! HE’S used HIS brilliant and finest minds to develop a Cyber tool that will reach the global nations with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are participants in that Holy Spirit Creative effort, and we thank God for the opportunity to tell the world via cyber space, electronic engineering, about “The WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE”
