My sister reminded me to pray this prayer daily. I have made it a goal for the new year! Will you join us?
Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
forever in the next.
Amen.
Yes, I will join in making it a goal to pray this prayer daily. Thanks to your sister for sharing this.
I wish to pray this prayer daily in agreement with my sisters in Christ. I ask Holy Spirit to enable me to remember to and make this a part of my daily life as we face the New Year and a renewed spiritual life. Amen.
I love the serenity prayer. Thanks to Sara and her sister for sharing. God, help me to remember to pray this prayer, daily.
Yes I will join you in this prayer. I have known this prayer but have forgotten to pray it. So much needed. Thank you.
What a terrific hopeful promise this prayer holds when we embrace the condition: “if I surrender to His Will”.
The heart art above sure illustrates well the Serenity Prayer and speaks about the importance of listening.
I found this quote on my school’s website today where they post a different quote each day. I thought it was applicable.
“Quote of the Day
I like to listen. I have learned a great deal from listening carefully. Most people never listen.
Ernest Hemingway “
“I have learned a great deal from listening carefully. Most people never listen.” Thanks for sharing this quote, Debi. Looks like I better work on being a good listener, if I want to “learn a great deal”, right?
In my children’s lesson at BSF the scripture reading is: Do not merely listen to the word…Do what it says.” James 1: 22 It is wonderful to listen but it is better to see what we listen to put into action. (Sometimes I think this is the hardest of all.)
I agree Rena……putting what we have learned from the Word into action. To merely fill ourselves with knowledge…..as Paul says,…”Knowledge [Merely hoarded up for the sake of knowledge] Puffs us up” __1Cor. 8:1. But LOVE is an action word. God is Love and He is an Action Figure. Not only is He a Lover but shows His love in acting in our behalf. He intervenes in the affairs of His children when we call out to Him. He created the universe as an extension of His love. And the most grandiose, compassionate and glorious act of all….HE sent Jesus.
As I look at the artist’s picture above and think on it and on the serenity prayer, I am reminded of a verse from Isaiah 26. The verse talks about The Lord keeping a person’s mind or heart in perfect peace if the mind is fixed on Him…if the heart’s hope is in Him. It seems that there’s a lot that tries to get in the ear gate and distract us from the Peace who passes all understanding and keeps our minds and hearts. The heart in the picture looks tuned in and focused and has determined to be in control of what it allows to talk to it
