Thought for your day!

“See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and that is what we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” 1 John 3:1, NRSV

  1. Amen. Whoever has the Son has the Father, also. Whoever does Not have the Son does Not have the Father. The reason the ‘world’ does not acknowledge our position in the Faith and doctrine of The Father and The Son is as Jesus told us in the Gospel of Matthew. The world will HATE you because of ME. They despise the cross and the blood. We Love the Cross and the Blood of Jesus.
And we see these things coming to pass more and more in our lives, today. Not only does the world not know us….news of hatred for the followers of Christ is very evident..
Let us awaken, Church, strengthen ourselves in the Faith so that the Light of Christ that the Body of Christ possesses will shine before and upon the world..

    1. “Let us awaken, Church, strengthen ourselves in the Faith”
      MG,
Would you say that sharing Biblical truths here, on the daily lily, would be one way we could “strengthen ourselves in the Faith?”

      1. I would definitely say yes to tholton’s question. The daily lily has been a great strength to me recently having lost a beloved one after years of struggling with cancer for him. Our blog is a daily dose of hope whether writing, reading or living. It does take the triune of faith to strengthen our faith.

  2. The amazingly great and gracious love of Heavenly Father for His sons …those of the born-again experience…is overwhelming. It could and does make one weep; weep in gratitude and weep for those who do not know Him. We weep for those who will not listen to the our testimonials. We weep for those whom we love and are not interested in Christ. We intercede for the millions of people who have not yet heard of Jesus on the Cross. We pray the Lord of the Harvest to send laborers into the paths of those who are marked for salvation.
It is the set time. The hour is very late. Thank You God for so great a salvation.

    1. “Our blog is a daily dose of hope whether writing, reading or living.” Hope is certainly needed, in these uncertain times. So thankful we have this blog to learn, grow, and receive encouragement. Thanks for all who help make this blog possible.

      Sara,
I have often heard not to take a verse out of context, and I don’t want to do that. Could you teach me a little about this verse below?
17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (NKJV)

      1. Tammy, this verse is packed with power! Giving and receiving. And, one might say which comes first the chicken or egg! I think you and others that have skillfully studied God’s Word has an overview of this passage. Yet, I always say there is the best part to an individual when the Holy Spirit begins to shine light for each of us individually. Example, Father God, in OT was to Natoins or Tribes, etc. We only find in NT where Father, Abba Father became personal.
Now, back to your verse of inquiry? Romans 10:17 (ESV)”So belief cometh of hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.” Try adding vs. 18 into the mix…” But I say, Did they not hear? Yea, verily, Their sound went out into all the earth, And their words unto the ends of the world.”

Pause and think on this. Then let us take the next step into discussion as seekers of truth.

  3. “The amazingly great and gracious love of Heavenly Father for His sons…” I agree with MG about this great love. It is an undeserved privilege…and responsibility to be called a child of God and to live up to that title so that the others in the ‘world’ can come to know Him also.

  4. A couple of weeks ago I was reading a chapter in A.W. Tozer’s book, The Pursuit of God, entitled, The Speaking Voice. The chapter spoke about the word of God as well as hearing this Word or Voice. It seems to also apply to what Sara said, “Giving and receiving.” I would like to add some of what he said to the discussion of Romans 10: 17 as I think it may pertain.
He uses this scripture as one for the basis of his writing: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.-John 1:1”
“The why of natural law is the living Voice of God immanent in His creation. And this word of God which brought all worlds into being cannot be understood to mean the Bible, for it is not a written or printed word at all, but the expression of the will of God spoken into the structure of all things. This word of God is the breath of God filling the world with living potentiality. The Voice of God is the most powerful force in nature, indeed the only force in nature, for all energy is here only because the power-filled Word is being spoken.
The Bible is the written word of God, and because it is written it is confined and limited by the necessities of ink and paper and leather. The Voice of God, however, is alive and free as the sovereign God is free. “The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” The life is in the speaking words. God’s word in the Bible can have power only because it corresponds to God’s word in the universe. It is the present Voice which makes the written Word all-powerful. Otherwise it would lie locked in slumber within the covers of a book.”….
“that Voice which has not been silent since the dawn of creation, but is sounding still throughout the full far reaches of the universe.”…
“Even those persons who have never heard of the Bible have still been preached to with sufficient clarity to remove every excuse from their hearts forever. “…
“This universal Voice of God was by the ancient Hebrews often called Wisdom, and was said to be everywhere sounding and searching throughout the earth, seeking some response from the sons of men.”…”The tragedy is that our eternal welfare depends upon our hearing, and we have trained our ears not to hear.”
