“How do you answer God’s question, “Where are you?”
If I understand this question, I hope I am hearing His question and willing to say, I am here…what do You need? And then do what He asks.
But if He doesn’t know where I am and has to ask me this question, then it may mean I am so busy and unavailable that He can’t find me to use the giftings He has placed within me when He needs them.
Looking at the picture of the crape myrtle trees above makes me think He sees and knows where those trees are because they are planted…and they are blooming.
God Ask Adam and Eve Genesis 3:8-10
“They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9)Then the LORD God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?” 10)He said, “I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.”…
Q = “How do you answer God’s question, “Where are you?”
A = “Forgive me Lord, I have been too busy with my agenda. I am still; now, and ready to listen and commune with You.”
Tammy, aren’t we blessed to know that through Jesus Christ your response receives a perfect answer because we have received reconciliation. Romans 5:11 “More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.”
I know! And who can ask for anything more? He’s given us freedom in His forgiveness of our sins.
He has died and risen and invites us to sit in the Throne with Him as the Bride of Christ, if we are overcomers. [Rev 3:21]
All this is because of His Redemptive death on the cross…which if we accept it…we can partake fo the blessings of His work on the cross. Glory to His Name and Character.
Yes, Sara, we are very blessed because of Jesus Christ. Look at the footnotes for Romans 5: 11. (NLT) “God is holy, and he will not be associated with sun. All people are sinful and so they are separated from God. In addition, all sin deserves punishment. Instead of punishing us with the death we deserve, however, Christ took our sins upon himself and took our punishment by dying on the cross. Now we can rejoice in God. Through faith in Christ’s work, we become close to God (friends) rather than being enemies and outcasts.”
God asks, ”Where are you?” Where are you in the Spirit? Where are you in good deeds? Where are you in prayer?
ME: Oh Lord. Forgive me. I am into me! I am into what I want/need to do. I am into my agenda.
God: ”Is there room for ME in there? Is there TIME for ME in there? Is there an embracing of MY plans and My purposes in there?
ME: OH, Yes Lord, I ask Your forgiveness. I know You dwell in my heart through the Holy Spirit and there’s room in there for You…All of You. I want to humble myself and get out of myself, stay low so that All of You, Your Plans and purposes dwell in my heart with Your Spirit….so that I can truly say when you ask of me….
God: Where are you?
Me ; I am dwelling in my repentant heart, dwelling with YOUR Presence.
And to add further to ”Where are you?” The saddest part of not being where we should be …is..
WE deceive ourselves into thinking…”well, I’m doing this for Jesus….or….I’ll just finish this little project that I want to do and then get back to Jesus/Holy Spirit in my heart”
And so it goes, and the Spirit yearns and longs for us as it says in James 4:5 ” Or do you think the Scripture means nothing when it says that the Spirit that God caused to live in us jealously yearns for us?” That should break our hearts when we realize that He is in our hearts, waiting for fellowship, waiting for prayer, waiting for worship for He is God. Longing and yearning for us in our hearts. And God says,
”WHERE ARE YOU?”
