The Holy Spirit

“But the [a]Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessorβ€”Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you.” John 14: 26 (AMP) πŸ•ŠπŸ•ŠπŸ•ŠπŸ•ŠπŸ•ŠπŸ•ŠπŸ•ŠπŸ•ŠπŸ•Š

The Holy Spirit teaches all things and He will help you remember things that Jesus has told you. He comes from God The Father, as an Advocate of His Son, Jesus.

How has the Holy Spirit given you comfort?

Have you ever experienced His acting as an Advocte on your behalf? Is so, how?

What type of Counsel has He given you? Was His counsel of value to you?

Why do you think a Dove is representive of the Holy Spirit? πŸ•ŠπŸ•ŠπŸ•Š

  1. How has the Holy Spirit given you comfort? I have sensed the Holy Spirit’s work in prayer when I have asked Him, in prayer, to draw a loved one to the Lord. I have sensed Him in the Spirit going forth as with wings on His feet to draw a soul or comfort a soul for whom I am interceding giving me great consolation that He is working in the behalf of that person’s salvation due to my intercession in their behalf.

Have you ever experienced His acting as an Advocate on your behalf? Is so, how? When the adversary of my soul stands before the court of Heaven and accuses me and brings criminal charges against me before the Father the Holy Spirit upholds my my innocence on those charges and false claims against me. Holy Spirit withstands satan’s accusations attesting to the Blood of the Lamb on the Cross and the washing away of any iniquities through repentance and reform.

What type of Counsel has He given you? Holy Spirit reminds me very often to stop!!! and remember promises that I have made to the Lord and warns me and/or convicts me when He sees that I am tempted in the area of a weakness.

Was His counsel of value to you? Absolutely, in warding off falling into a problem called “sin”.
Why do you think a Dove is representative of the Holy Spirit? Peaceful, comforting, gentle, sensitive…. pure white dove.

  2. “How has the Holy Spirit given you comfort?”
One way I feel He has given me comfort is through the abilities he gives me to help and serve within my part of the local body of Christ. It is comforting to receive His strength, direction, etc so to be able to be of help.

Have you ever experienced His acting as an Advocte on your behalf? Is so, how? (I need to think on this one some more)

“What type of Counsel has He given you? Was His counsel of value to you?”
One way I have experienced His counsel is through the gift of wisdom words that He pours through Sara…here on The Daily Lily and in other situations. And yes, it is of great value.

Why do you think a Dove is representive of the Holy Spirit? ”
It reminds me of the time during the flood when Noah “sent out the dove”. The dove needed to find a resting place, a place he/she could live. As the scripture in the blog above stated “whom the Father will send in My name”, the dove of the Holy Spirit needs to find a place to rest and live in open and obedient hearts today.

  3. I agree Debi. Holy Spirit is grieved by sin in the heart of a true believer. Thus He convicts us of our mistakes and missteps and sins. He prompts us to confess our sin, repent of it and resolve to not repeat it. That is one of Holy Spirit’s missions as He dwells within our hearts. I thank God that He helps keep us walk in holiness and rejecting the culture of evil that surrounds us. His ”resting place”
”Holy Spirit has been sent to groom the Bride for the Bridegroom” [Terry Bennett] My prayer is to allow Him to do so within me.

  4. “What type of Counsel has He (Holy Spirit) given you? Was His counsel of value to you?”

I was Christmas Shopping this week trying to save time $’s and green $’s when I ordered two items, one the size I knew and one I didn’t. Therefore, out of a shortage of patience to get proper information I decided to guess.😣…Order refused to go through, I fussed with computer to no avail. I dropped the guessing and remove that item. Order went through like a breeze. Within minutes I received the right size info and ordered from another source and save $’s.

This has been a common occurrence with me. I hear my Counsellor speaking in very valuable ways throughout the day. I know His voice just as well as I know the daily 🐾🐾🐾🐾 climbing steps right by by side. My Weatie can spot noises, squirrels,🐿 πŸ‡πŸ•ŠπŸˆ and let me know before I even perceive there might be a moving animal near our climb.

Holy Spirit is so wise, power ignited when needed and full of flares to warn me how to do the things I requested of Him. But, my will gets an attitude and I can tell Him a thing or two. Like when did you learn to use a computer. When did you update your knowledge to style and Meds among other daily useful things in today’s world?

Yes, He is giving me counsel minute by minute. Is it of value to me? Yes, very valuable. Time management, green bucks, among peace hope and joy for my daily climb. The Holy Spirit is an Awesome God in my way of belief? πŸ•ŠπŸ•ŠπŸ•ŠπŸ•ŠπŸ•ŠπŸ•ŠπŸ•ŠπŸ•ŠπŸ•ŠπŸ•Š

  5. “Have you ever experienced His acting as an Advocte on your behalf? Is so, how?” One of its meanings; “a person who pleads for or in behalf of another; intercessor.”

Recently one of my older brothers (that has children almost my age that are in charge legally of their Dad) suffered some form of serious dementia. I saw in my opinion that he needed care above and beyond what was being given. I tried to be his advocate and seek additional help with very little success. I begin to hear the sweet voice of spirit counseling me to be the Intercessor and ask others to join in prayer and He would be the Advocate.

I tried and prayers seem so little in the midst of this mountain. Awee, but Holy Spirit kept His word and maneuvered things beyond my asking and hoping. I didn’t even know to ask those things. It started with my brother needing serious medical care that gave me a beautiful connection to other believers. His story is still ongoing but under circumstances that only God knew was most needful.

Each day I see more and more when I become weak He is strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NASB) “And He has said to me, β€œMy grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast [a]about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with [b]insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.”

  6. Sara, I sure appreciate reading your story answers. For me, you have a way of bringing Heaven down to earth with your down to earth and practical examples of the Holy Spirit working.

    1. Debi, your comment is an enigma I’m working on. It is a very insightful comment for me. NTWright in his Advent Devotionals, “The Jesus We Never Knew” writes:
“In the scriptures, the Creator made the world as a unified though two-sided creation. Heaven and earth were made for one another; the creation story in Genesis 1 is modelled on the idea of constructing a temple, a building where heaven and earth come together. The wilderness tabernacle in Exodus was then a small working model of the whole creation, with Aaron the High Priest taking the role of Adam and Eve, the divine image-bearers. When Solomon constructed the first Jerusalem Temple it, too, was a microcosm, a small working model of the whole creation, with king and priests as the image-bearers. Most people never think of Israel’s Temple like this, and that is one reason we don’t understand Jesus…”

I read this devotional after writing my stories and before I read your comment and started working on the enigma which has been a goal of mine for 2016. We are coming to the end of 2061😱 and I am still on Heaven and Earth made for one another….thanks for your insightful and thoughtful comment.

  7. “Why do you think the dove is representative of the Holy Spirit “. Maybe the meaning of the dove could possibly be the reason ? One has hope peace nd more when the Holy Spirit is allowed to lead us. “Hope, Peace, Promise and more: Dove symbolism is a treasure trove of good tidings.”

    1. Tammy, I love the idea of a treasure trove of good tidings. You have me singing a Christmas Carol….
      ‘God rest you merry, Gentlemen,
      Let nothing you dismay,
      For Jesus Christ our Saviour
      Was born upon this Day.
To save poor souls from Satan’s power,
Which long time had gone astray.
Which brings tidings of comfort and joy…”πŸ•ŠπŸ•ŠπŸ•ŠπŸ•ŠπŸ•Š

  8. ” How has the Holy Spirit given you comfort?” I grew up with a very large family. To be exact ten children plus all theirs and mine. Through the years we have shared much joy, little disagreements along the way. But, facing and living with the desolate feeling at times that many have left this earth for their eternal home seem to have left the mind and heart with distractive earth thoughts and anxiety. Yet, the blessing of comfort that The Holy Spirit has and does bring daily through my faith and *duties in obedience has given me perfect peace just as He promised. ‘The peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”- Philippians 4:7 (KJV

*– Frank Rogers Jr. Writes Disciplines 2017 “We pave a straight path for God through acts of kindness, justice, generosity, and compassion. When we love, God will come.” β€œThe one who is more powerful than I is coming after me,” John says.

  9. “Why do you think a Dove is representive of the Holy Spirit?”
The book of Matthew refers to the dove as innocent and when the dove appeared at the baptism of Jesus we have the mind eye picture of gentle. The dove hovers close. In my thinking as I reach out to get to know the Holy Spirit better I am constantly reminded of just how innocent He is. He is guileless. He is a perfect mentor. I am really enjoying His daily communications with me.
