“The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.” (Romans 8:16 NIV) Just take a quick mind snapshot of children asking Santa for gifts for Christmas. It’s so exciting for parents to watch their kids sitting on Santa’s lap and hearing their little voices tell Santa exactly what they want. 🎅🏻🤶🏻Parents take off to Walmart among other stores many times with credit cards in hand to make sure that Santa lives up to their child’s expectations. They make sure Santa deliverers to their tree the exact things the child asked for🎄 So Sweet🍪🍰🍿🍩 for parents and children alike. As well as Walmart and many other stores.🏈🥋⚽️🤹🏽♀️🎨🥁
My mind and heart keeps asking as a child of God what have I asked for? Did my Father deliver? Just how does this prayer of hope work as a child of God? Does God like Santa ask me have I been good? Have I shown love across racial and culture barriers? Have I been self-righteous in my deeds? Holy Spirt, as you are available to affirm with my spirit that I am a child of God I ask for Christmas that You speak truth to my heart according to Romans 8:16. And, vs 17 “if we are children, then we are heirs: heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ—if indeed we suffer with Him, so that we may also be glorified with Him.…”
Christmas has a way of joyfully awaking the truth in our hearts, strengthening our will to live within “The Light” that permeates our being. John 12;36 -37 (NIV) “For with thee is the fountain of life: In thy light shall we see light.” (Psalm 36:9 ASV)
Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.” When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them. Although Jesus had performed so many signs in their presence, they still did not believe in Him.…” What do we believe about Jesus?
Now as I read these words below giving a promise that is Eternal and place myself in this family Kingdom I am over joyed with my powerful family. Place our promise in this story given in our scripture that we are being confirmed as a child of God is far out. Have you heard, “folks you can’t make this stuff up?”
“You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.” Luke 1:31-33 NIV
What a beautiful array of desserts in the picture! They look delicious! Makes me think back that as a child there were some table rules…eat all your dinner (including your vegetables) and then you could have dessert.
I think the Father has some rules also and that obedience to them is rewarded.
“Does God like Santa ask me have I been good? ” Sara asked. Yes, I think so. One way is in reading His words. He asks some penetrating questions like , “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord’ and not do what I command?”
One of the Santa songs says he has some rules for receiving…” You better watch out, You better not cry, You better not pout, I’m telling you why…Santa Clause is coming to town!
Sara asks, “What do we believe about Jesus? ” I believe He is coming soon…and that He, has rules and that this is what he promises to bring with him…
“I’m coming soon! I will bring my reward with me to pay all people based on what they have done.” Rev 22:12
My DIL with great joy and thoughtful thoughts to things that make my joy light come on has started a tradition with me by giving me 12 gifts for The Twelve Days of Christmas. Our beloved friend, MG, for nearly 30 years was in our lives to play piano w sing along this fun song with us often during the holidays. This is the first Christmas without her. Our faith says she is in the presence of the Lord.
That’s a very big thing I believe about Jesus.
I want to add to my Twelve Days of Christmas a song that I can read and meditate on that will spring giving even a little more than ever. This is one of my songs to increase my faith in just who Jesus is. This song is found in “The Africana Worship Book: Year A
“CARRY A LITTLE QUIET inside you
while the world continues
in rush and rage
fighting and frenzy.
Carry a little quiet inside you
so that the worry and war
trouble and tumult
do not capture you in their grip.
Tarry in the Son-filled meadow of the heart
beside the still waters
where God’s Spirit refreshes and renews.
Carry so much quiet inside you
that you have some extra calm
to share with me.”
Love the lyrics to the song🎼
