Goodness will pursue you

“Yes, goodness and faithful love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the LORD’s house as long as I live.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭23:6‬ ‭CEB‬‬

Gracie

I wonder a lot these days about nature and it’s inhabitants. My sister, a psychologist said to me this week? “As we age I imagine most of us turn to nature.”

I had an unusual experience this am. I decided to trim my hair a bit which I have been doing this past year due to the Covid pandemic.
My inner voice said, “throw your cut hair in the wind.” I opened the door and let the gentle breeze take the cut hair. I sat a few minutes on my porch rocking and looked to see what I might see. Awee! This little Gracie was less than 2 ft away from me gathering the curly matted cut hair and taking it under the hedge within inches. Why? I wondered!

I don’t really know why? I could google but I haven’t. Why? Because nature is teaching me to listen more closely to the Holy Spirit which is a lesson my Mother taught me. I heard a scripture that also makes me wonder!
“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it.”—Proverbs 3:27 (NRSV)

  1. Sara, thank you for sharing this. It reminds me of a scripture you brought to my attention awhile back that I think on frequently, “You care for people and animals alike, O LORD” (Ps 36:6).

I think it is so wonderful how God showed his care for Gracie by speaking to you to “throw your cut hair in the wind” after you trimmed it and then positioned you to observe the results. Gracie must have had a special need and the Lord met it through you and confirmed it to you.

And your two scriptures give lots to ponder about good and goodness.

  2. Proverbs 3:27-28 New Living Translation
27 Do not withhold good from those who deserve it
when it’s in your power to help them.
28 If you can help your neighbor now, don’t say,
“Come back tomorrow, and then I’ll help you.”

To do good…goodness is my companion…goodness is spirit fruit…

I would like to share a story that happened to a young single lady yesterday while at work in a school in Charlotte, NC

…car got stolen yesterday right in front of her school with 2 security guards & cameras everywhere. It’s not be found. It has been disheartening for her.

    I asked her about keys?

…dropped her purse on the way in to work and everything fell out. She thought she had picked up everything but obviously the keys were on the ground. She loves her Honda Accord. She had lots of Amazon purchases in the car to return.

I thought whatever happened to “lost and found box”….Whatever happened to goodness?
Goodness: “the state or quality of being good.
    moral excellence; virtue.
    kindly feeling; kindness; generosity.
excellence of quality: goodness of workmanship.
the best part of anything; essence; strength.
a euphemism for God: Thank goodness!”

Yes, thank goodness she was safe even though evil is part of satan’s kingdom that dwells in the earth. When there is not goodness you find evil, indecency, meanness, wickedness.

    1. I am also thankful the “young single lady” is safe and also pray she gets her care back and the things in it… that goodness will prevail.

  3. I finally googled today to see how and where rabbits build their nest. It’s right on with my experience.I’m seeing just how unobservant I am and have been with things right before my eyes.

  4. WOW! I’m so loving this blog. Just a minute ago my great niece, Brandi sent me this, “ Sit quietly with animals and they will show you their heart. Sit kindly with them and they will help show your own heart. 🦆 🧚‍♂️ 💛” She was holding two ducks.

    1. I am liking this blog too. I like what your niece, Brandi said: “ sit kindly with them and they will help show your own heart.” 💕

  5. “Love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor.”
    —Romans 12:10 (NRSV)

As I sit among beautiful flowers with birds singing alto, bass, baritone, soprano, among other unknown tones my wonder for imagination turns on. Why would someone at a school or anywhere really take the keys of another’s car and disappear?

Would the bigger wonder be what would I be or am I thinking about that person?

Surely no good thoughts? Surely no good prayer? How would this be to find grace and pray, Heavenly Father, May your mercy extend to this thief or thieves. May Your Mercy find a speed to overtake the heart and thinking of this thief to see Jesus hanging in shame on a cross. See a church that ignites the work of the Holy Spirit. Hear the voice of another singing the tones of heaven. Hear you are forgiven. Come home my wandering child. This day you shall be with Me!

    Or, forget that idiot…

What did the Wisdom writer of Proverbs mean, do good!

    1. “How would this be to find grace and pray, Heavenly Father, “….
Sara, I think it would be “good and goodness” and I would like to agree with your prayer and say “Amen”
