  1. “Don’t believe everything you think”…Andy Andrews

”That statement sure makes sense. Just because we think something or think we know something doesn’t mean we do, that it is factual or true. We could have a misconception, have “learned“ something (or thought we learned) incorrectly; have a bias; or misunderstand. There must be a good reason why the Lord told us that our minds needed to be renewed (Romans 12:2).

    1. Debi’s quoted scripture was one of three Andy used in his talk when I heard his quote. Three words were emphasized to help get to a place to believe your thoughts from my take away, not-but-then!
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2

Have you also heard, “… don’t always believe everything you hear just because someone says it is … from God: test it first to see if it really is.” 1 John 4;1-6

      1. Yes, I have heard..”don’t believe everything you hear”. Sara, you have shared from God’s Word what we should do….”test it first to see if it really is”. The footnotes from the NIV for 1John 4:6 says: “False teachers are popular with the world because, like the faults profits of the Old Testament, they tell people what they want to hear. John warns that Christians who faithfully teach God’s Word will not win any popularity contests in the world. People don’t want to hear their sins denounced; they don’t want to listen to demands that they change their behavior. A false teacher will be well received by non-Christians.” 🙏

    2. “We could have a misconception, have “learned“ something (or thought we learned) incorrectly; have a bias; or misunderstand. There must be a good reason why the Lord told us that our minds needed to be renewed (Romans 12:2).“. Now that is some truth to think on 🤔

      1. Tammy, your points given are so foundational for truth seekers. And, your footnotes are set as the Chief Cornerstone…”It is the rock upon which the weight of the entire structure rests. It is the cornerstone. Scripture describes Jesus as the “Chief Cornerstone” of our faith. … Isaiah 28:16, “Therefore, says the Lord God: ‘Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation.”

This statement from your notes is one of the saddest we may hear, “ People don’t want to hear their sins denounced; they don’t want to listen to demands that they change their behavior.” Yet, This is the soil in which we find vision and hope!

False teacher as named in footnotes and their believers are like an invasive weed with a desire to promote sin and self leaving their souls barren with no vision and hope. This brings us full circle to Romans 12:2 and the beauty of knowing when we have and most likely we do have, Tammy ‘s post, “ We could have a misconception, have “learned“ something (or thought we learned) incorrectly; have a bias; or misunderstand.” We have the joy of regeneration and setting our priorities against the plumb line and thrive in Vision and hope.

Do you remember this….” whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8

    1. Yes, testing! Have you heard only believe half of what you see? Does anyone see a butterfly hatching in the stalk of the plant in the photo I took thinking I was seeing a butterfly hatch?

“They hatch into baby caterpillars, also called the larvae. It takes about four days for the eggs to hatch. … Within the chrysalis the old body parts of the caterpillar are undergoing a remarkable transformation, called metamorphosis, to become the beautiful parts that make up the butterfly that will emerge.”

      1. I meant to mention how cute the above picture was, of the scarecrow.😊Some fun, I have Ben hesitant to share, as I was not sure if appropriate for the blog? But, I will share…….. when I look at this blog and the picture above, I think of the well known movie “The Wizard of Oz”, and what the scarecrow wanted and needed so badly. 🧠. Wonder if he would have believed everything he thought, if he only had a brain?

    1. Tammy asked, “Wonder if he would have believed everything he thought, if he only had a brain?” I am guessing he may have unless he, like us, put into practice the scripture Sara shared, Philippians 4:8.

  2. Tammy perfect analogy of, “ “Don’t believe everything you think”…Andy Andrews

Oh how I love “The Wizard of Oz” …so many lessons to learn. Thank you for reminding me how the scarecrow had its thinking distorted.

….”the Scarecrow reveals that he lacks a brain and desires above all else to have one. In reality, he is only two days old and merely naïve. “

  3. The powerful video Sara shared really did “demonstrate don’t believe all you think…”

I thought of the scripture, from Matt 13:25, “but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.”
I looked up tare and it said it was “an injurious weed”. Satan planted injurious weed seeds (lies) in an innocent child’s mind garden that grew and grew causing much suffering….and she thought she had planted them. Thankfully, the Lord revealed truth and rescued her.

  4. We have seemly ‘scare crowed’ our way through one of the three scriptures Andy gave in his talk for his theme and our quote, “Don’t believe everything you think”…Andy Andrews

    Now Scripture two, Proverbs 3:5-6
    New International Version
5 Trust in the Lordwith all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.

“Lean not on your understanding.” How many of us have told ourselves or taught our children Don’t think you have all the answers! And, don’t be wise in your own eyes.

The question might really be do we know or do we trust the source to lean on? Andy threw another quote from his mentor in, the same guy that gave the first quote! “You can lead a horse to the water but you can’t make him think!” 😱

Now, in our first scripture Tammy went out and found a thinking symbol to invoke and awaken my mind. The famous scarecrow of “The Wizard of Oz”! And, now our scarecrow here has a mentor! To be truthful I had to do a like of thinking to wind back in my mind to the many days years ago I read and watched with my two sons the story of the Oz! It was so deep and my mind as a Mother was rusty with old religious and voodoo freight I had to depend on the kids to help my understanding.

Now let’s kinda of think or maybe imagine we are the horses at the water and ask, do I drink or think?

I would suggest if we let our thoughts and actions drink from the well that never runs dry we will have wisdom with understanding!

    Tammy, now what?

  5. “Tammy, now what?” Sara, you have asked me, “now what?” Could a possible answer be in your suggestion above?……. “I would suggest if we let our thoughts and actions drink from the well that never runs dry we will have wisdom and understanding!” The key word being”LET”?? 🤔 I believe this is an action word, isn’t it? I found some Scripture that might tie into this??? I need some help with understanding this? Read with me in 2 Corinthians 10….” . 3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. ” “Take captive”….. there is that action word again 🤔 I may be off??, but I keep seeing action on my part???

    1. Tammy, you are doing an excellent joy! Taking action just as God desires and delights in. You have lead us to the door of Andy’s third verse which is the cap stone of his talk.

“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

“Then” Adverb…think..God then puts his power into action! Andy points out he didn’t ask the world to take action He asked his people to act and “then”…notice Tammy’s verse 2 Corinthians 10…reveals why he didn’t ask the world to go to battle but the believers.

Andy, on his conclusion walked us back to our first verse of 3… “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2

Did you catch the .”then.” WOW

Yes, our prayer for wisdom and understanding comes from the well that never runs dry. Our God is a well that never runs dry, I’m delighted to be part of this study and a healer of our land but to be honest I’m having to unpack a lot of thinking. And, even more honesty I like some of my thinking that is true but it’s just not the Truth!

  6. As I reviewed the comments this pm from Sara and Tammy that address: “Don’t believe everything you think”, Truth seems to be a common thread. I kept thinking that somewhere in Sara’s retreat book, “The Four Bees, Finding your Spiritual Gifts” she told us not to believe lies, but to know TRUTH. So I went on a hunt and found another layer of wisdom and insight in her book that really stood out to me and seems to go with this blog.

So many of the scriptures shared in this blog were mentioned in her book. Sara spoke of the importance of becoming our authentic selves, and from what I reviewed, that can’t happen if we believe everything we think.

Here were some highlight excerpts from tonight’s search:

Lesson 1, pg 4: “A simple man believes anything, but a prudent man gives thought to his steps” (Proverbs 14:15)

Lesson 1, pg 11: “begin to see with new eyes, corrective vision, what God is saying to you and others. Have Be lasik if need Bee”.

Lesson 2, pg 7: “If you speak the TRUTH, like Mary, then “nothing will be impossible” and “blessed will be the fruit of your womb.”

Lesson 2, pg 8: “We continually speak forth truth and when we speak forth truth it rains upon us for God goes on and says, “Let there be water, let there be animals, let there be grass.”

Lesson 2, pg 9: “Now your authentic self rises up, comes into view above the ego, above the negative thoughts, above the lies you believed about yourself and have been speaking about yourself. The time has come to begin to understand that you are more blessed than the Virgin Mary if you hear the words of God and do them.”

Lesson 2, pg 10: For God says that you, too, can have His mind. You, too, can rise up above the circumstances of your life. You can rise up above the old soul nature that tells you lies, about yourself. Stop using lying powers and speaking untruths about yourself. Don’t speak untruths to yourself, even if you think no one else is listening. You have just put words out into the universe, into an ocean of waves of doubt and fear. You just gave rain to a weed seed and let a weed tree bud in your mind.”

Lesson 3, pg 3: “Romans 12:2…Therefore, if you are thinking differently about yourself than God does, it is time for you to change your mind. Your philosophy should be to change your mind and train it… believe the things about yourself and others that Christ would have you believe.”

Lesson 3, pg 4: “We may need to reframe our thinking.”

Lesson 3, pg 5: “When you read God’s Word and understand the Word you begin to infuse your mind with saline. You will clean out the unlovely and the useless.”

    1. WOW Debi great job! I’m going to bed with the four Bees’ wisdom filtering through my mind.

By the way did you notice anything on the stalk of plant in the photo?

      1. Debi’s review above, lesson 2 came to mind yesterday as I was listening on line to a great pianist play us through a library of hymns. He stopped and said I just feel like I should say this, (not exact quote as he talked a bit about it)’ stop watering the weeds in your mind. Silence them and they will dry up and die.

I thought I just read that earlier in am….and I did from this lesson 2, “You just gave rain to a weed seed and let a weed tree bud in your mind.”

        Agree with Tammy, thanks Debi…

I do want to review a portion of lesson 3, “believe the things about yourself and others that Christ would have you believe.” Now about “others” ????? Now this is a hard one for me. I must say God must have a very good eyesight!

  7. “By the way did you notice anything on the stalk of plant in the photo?”

I see two things. I see a small white oval that resembles the shape of an egg. I think that is what you must have been referring to when you said above, “They hatch into baby caterpillars, also called the larvae. It takes about four days for the eggs to hatch.”

And I saw a black and orange/yellowish bug that looked like he was headed towards the white egg! I have seen these bugs on milkweed plants before. When I looked it up, it is called a milkweed bug. Apparently, they like milkweed plants too! Hope it doesn’t eat all the milkweed that the baby caterpillars need!
