Secret Garden or prayer garden

Secret Garden

๐ŸŽผI come to the garden alone,
While the dew is still on the roses;
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear,
The Son of God discloses.

Refrain:
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own,
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

2 He speaks, and the sound of His voice
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing;
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing. [Refrain]

3 I’d stay in the garden with Him
Tho’ the night around me be falling;
But He bids me go; thro’ the voice of woe,
His voice to me is calling. [Refrain]๐ŸŽผ

โ€œEven the stork in the sky
knows her appointed seasons,
and the dove, the swift and the thrush
observe the time of their migration.
But my people do not know
the requirements of the Lord.โ€ (Jeremiah 8:7 NIV)

Do you have a spot where you meet with the voice of God and nature? Iโ€™m in awe of Author: C. Austin Miles that pen these words, โ€œHe speaks, and the sound of His voice is so sweet the birds hush their singing;โ€ฆโ€

  1. โ€œEven the stork in the sky knows her appointed seasons,โ€โ€ฆI think maybe the hymn author had learned and had ears to hear, like the stork (and like the birds you pointed out, Sara, that became quiet when He spoke). The author seemed to know when to come to the garden (early am, when the dew was on the roses) and when to leave the garden and move on to the next thing the Lord wanted him to do (when the night was falling). He seemed to recognize, know and follow the Lordโ€™s voice.
    I think the angel in the beautiful garden photo models for us a bowing to God and to prayer.

    Do you have a spot where you meet with the voice of God and nature?” Yes, thankfully, I have a spotโ€ฆmy backyard where there are flowers, vegetable plants, trees, birds, bees, butterflies and other small creatures to observe and to be able to think on and thank God for and listen.

    1. Nice to read Debi that you have found a perfect spot for your visitation with God. You are blessed to have the opportunity to have your freedom to be able to freely worship God in the privacy of your own home and garden.

      Pausing and listening and speaking in freedom to worship God in our own personal way is a freedom not afforded to all Godโ€™s children.

      The following scripture is a refreshing drink of water for me as I approach my prayer spot. I partake of scriptural communication. As I introduce my topics of concern to the Father knowing that His very breathe in within the Words recorded for all that desire Him to hear him. Each topic has answers within the well of Godโ€™s Word. Often, as I gently walk thru the actions for each topic I find that I am the one that needs a little adjustment (correcting) in my thinking. So often I find in myself and others we have a way of adjusting things to suit what we think is cool for the moment. Yet, we are being rebuked by the prophet, โ€œ But my people do not know
      the requirements of the Lord.โ€ (Jeremiah 8:7 NIV)

      โ€œAll Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.โ€โ€”2 Timothy 3:16 (NIV)

      Thanks for sharing a few of my thoughtful moments with me.

  2. As I continue to practice my โ€œscriptio divinaโ€ in my secret garden each morning I find solace in communicating with The Living God, Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ the Messiah and Holy Spirit.

    This morning as I pause to communicate with God I am thinking of Maui Hawaii. And a special city of Lahaina where only a few years ago we were enjoying the stunning beauty of the Island and itโ€™s beloved people as we celebrated a family wedding.. Now we watch as flames tear through this beauty and leaves devastation.

    BBC reports, โ€œ Lahaina has been devastated by the fire and video showed the blaze tearing through the beachfront resort city.
    “We just had the worst disaster I’ve ever seen. All of Lahaina is burnt to a crisp. It’s like an apocalypse,” resident Mason Jarvi told Reuters. He showed the news agency images of the city’s destroyed and blackened waterfront.โ€

    The beautiful 150 year old Banyan tree in flames seems life left and maybe will survive the injuries giving a small beacon of hope in the disaster. Lifeโ€™s lost and home and businesses without hope.

    And, while we think on this disaster we are reminded of the daily loss of life and cities around the earth from ear and other natural disasters.

    How do we read and hear this news and share hope?

    As I read these words from Proverbs I am reminded, we are light? We are given opportunity to do good deeds! We will find our answers of hope in listening to; and then being light and action of the word as we follow His instructions.

    Hope you are enjoying your daily reflections and actions as you enjoy your listening spot!

    โ€œEvery word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.โ€
    โ€”Proverbs 30:5 (NIV)

  3. Beautiful song posted above. Reading this above โ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ But my people do not know
    the requirements of the Lord.โ€ (Jeremiah 8:7 NIV)โ€ sure causes one to think ๐Ÿค”โ€ฆ. We all need a prayer spot to meet with our Lord, and Savior, Jesus Christ. We need to know and obey His requirements ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

    1. Oh Tammy, I so agree with you! Itโ€™s so refreshing and enjoyable to spend a special time and place with the friend of friends, Jesus himself.

      Remember the song, โ€œWhat a friend we have in Jesusโ€?

      The words of this song written about 1858 holds the key to the beauty of our friend, Jesus.

  4. โ€œWe also constantly give thanks to God for this, that when you received the word of God that you heard from us you accepted it not as a human word but as what it really is, Godโ€™s word, which is also at work in you believers.โ€
    โ€”1 Thessalonians 2:13 (NRSV)
