”You faithfully answer our prayers with awesome deeds, O God our savior. You are the hope of everyone on earth, even those who sail on distant seas. You formed the mountains by your power and armed yourself with mighty strength. You quieted the raging oceans with their pounding waves and silenced the shouting of the nations. Those who live at the ends of the earth stand in awe of your wonders. From where the sun rises to where it sets, you inspire shouts of joy.“
Psalms 65:5-8 NLT

I found myself bird watching and wondering what kind of bird might this be? All black with red wings. Someway watching the mystery of so much black but wings of red reminded me of the blood of Jesus Christ shed for our blackness at Calvary.
The Psalmist must have understood how one might feel when darkness surrounds so many and so much. The words of the psalmist, “0 God our Savior, You are the Hope of everyone on earth…”
Meditating on this awesome scripture with this good news, Hope for everyone on earth. And, “God answers our prayers with awesome deeds.”
I named our little bird that seems so at peace, Hope!

Sara, I love your bird-watching photo and seeing “Hope”. The scriptures and what you wrote (“Meditating on this awesome scripture with this good news, Hope for everyone on earth. And, “God answers our prayers with awesome deeds.”) are very encouraging, and seem to naturally lead us in prayer…
I couldn’t help but notice all the cattails in the photo and how “Hope” seems right at home perched on one. Wondering if there was anything in the Bible about cattails, or their meaning, I found this from Isaiah 42:2: “He will not break off a damaged cattail. He will not even put out a smoking wick. He will faithfully bring about justice.” GW
Debi, your quote from Isaiah just confirms Psalm 65 as you continue the praise of God, vs9 “You take care of the earth, and you water it.
You make it much richer than it was.
(The river of God is filled with water.)
You provide grain for them.
Indeed, you even prepare the ground.
10 You drench plowed fields ⌞with rain⌟
and level their clumps of soil.
You soften them with showers
and bless what grows in them.
11 You crown the year with your goodness,
and richness overflows wherever you are.
12 The pastures in the desert overflow ⌞with richness⌟.
The hills are surrounded with joy.
13 The pastures are covered with flocks.
The valleys are carpeted with grain.
All of them shout triumphantly. Indeed, they sing.”
Hope was resting peacefully on the damaged cattail. O that we all would enter into His Rest.
The footnotes for Psalm 65: 6-13 (NLT) says: “This harvest psalm glorifies God, the Creator as reflected in the beauty of nature. Nature helps us understand something of God’s character. The Jews believe that God’s care of nature was a sign of his love and provision for them. Nature shows God’s generosity-giving us more than we need or deserve. God‘s abundant generosity should make us grateful to him and generous to others.” I can’t help but share again, from above…””You faithfully answer our prayers with awesome deeds, O God our Savior. You are the hope of everyone on earth, even those who sail on distant seas…..” now, that is HOPE! Thank you, God for leaving Your precious Word!🙏. Not sure what kind of bird “Hope” is?
”Nature helps us understand something of God’s character.”(Footnotes from Tammy)
Thanks Debi and Tammy for laser lighting how God’s creation does just as St Francis discovered His love includes you, me and them…”O God our Savior. You are the hope of everyone on earth,…” Oh, my prayer and desire is to stay laser focused on this truth!
