All things came into being through him, [Jesus]and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. John 1:3-4 (NRSVUE)

Therefore, do we as children of God? (John 1:22)
Radiate His Light?
Reflect?
Reproduce?
Resonate?
Other?________

other?….. would replicate be correct here?
REPLICATE! Tammy, a very Interesting Word! I found the dictionary giving me synonyms for replicate gave reflect, resonate, among many other great words for Jesus to radiate through his children. I like replicate!
Seems Debi’s lesson on plants gives us input into the light? Debi, what about a seed, a baby plant, a clipping that we find from some plants…how would that show light. Is that a copy of the host plant? Is host the right word.
I have been giving thought to how others see light in us and how we see light in others. How to remind myself that when I have seen only darkness in any of us and then light how to focus on the beauty of light and not what was dark.
So much beauty when Light appears! Do we all agree on that?
“Debi, what about a seed, a baby plant, a clipping that we find from some plants…how would that show light. Is that a copy of the host plant? Is host the right word.”
Sara, I think “a seed, a baby plant, a clipping” would explain Tammy’s word, replicate. They are copies of the original plant often referred to as the mother plant, stock plant, parent plant. The original plant could be a host plant. Host plants are specific plants that supply food, flowers, environments, etc. for a specific insect to feed on, lay eggs on, complete a life cycle, etc. in order to survive and copy or ‘replicate’ itself.
“how would that show light?” One way may be Proverbs 11:30: “The seeds of good deeds become a tree of life” or as another translation puts it, “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life”.
Good deeds display light. Evil deeds show darkness. “And this is the verdict: The Light has come into the world, but men loved the darkness rather than the Light because their deeds were evil.” John 3:19
“So much beauty when Light appears! Do we all agree on that?” Yes, I would agree with that, Sara.

Some thoughts:
I think the plants in the photo tell us a lot to help with these questions. They appear to be radiating light; all are reflecting light and showing us they are green and have life; some seem to be reproducing (I think I see a baby palm next to the mother starting to grow at the base); some may resonate with different sounds when the wind blows them or the rain hits them. I understand they have their own alarm systems that warn other plants when there is danger or insects, etc. The Light is their Life. Without it, they would not exist. They know how to capture it, utilize it, photosynthesize it and then give off oxygen (and food and fruit) so humans, animals and the planet can survive and live. Each of those plants in the picture is different; each is growing in their own spot; each is performing a necessary function.
I think when we stay in our spot that God created and gifted us to be in, we can utilize energy and Light from the Son and be a useful part of God’s kingdom…doing the R’s above. Light spurs us to action.
Lots to think on in your blog on “All things came into being through him, [Jesus]and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. John 1:3-4 (NRSVUE)”
An English Word or my limited thoughts are seasonal, a bit complicated when it comes to my answering questions for a young child that wonders who is God? How do we see him? Our Q&A here as we share our wisdom with one another from our various perspective gives such insight and hope for all!
I see him in you, family and friends!
“Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

“Jesus answered, “The first is, ‘Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
—Mark 12:29-31 (NRSVUE)
As I was reading I John 5 this am, I thought these verses went right along with what you wrote, Sara about loving God and loving others.
“Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has become a child of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves his children, too. We know we love God’s children if we love God and obey his commandments. Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome.”
