My friend, Jesus

As I was focused one day recently on what I believe to be beyond the norm on political election news and worrisome world events the thought occurred to me, what do I know about Jesus the Christ? How much time do I spend with Him? What do I know about Him without googling or other references to see who He is?

I started writing in my journal what I knew about Him and then inviting Him into my day. My attitude of anxiety became peace, hope and Love! How refreshing!

Do you know Jesus?

“Jesus of Nazareth was a baby rocked in a cradle!

Jesus of Bethlehem was a young boy trained and labored as a carpenter.

Jesus Christ of Israel was taught in temple tenants of faith.

Jesus Christ knew the living of having his feet planted in ‘earth soil’ much like you and me.

Jesus Christ knew the struggles of dealing with politicians and the law.

Jesus Christ knew humanity and flaws that are birthed into its DNA!

Jerusalem knew the agony of a suffering man, named Jesus, hanging from a cross.

Jesus knew the divinity of divine purity within a grave, resurrection and ascension all from within the walls of Jerusalem!

The Messiah, Jesus The Christ, reigns over kingdom building both in men and women that have joined His Kingdom. The now and the eternal reign.

Jesus Christ oversees Temple Building that has a foundation laid in Jerusalem and a cornerstone that bears His Name.

Kingdom children of all ages and ages to come will be named and their names carved in stone”

“Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us, even as we hope in you.”
—Psalm 33:22 (NRSVUE)

John 13 verses 34, Jesus says, “I give you a new commandment. Love each other just as much as I have loved you. vs 35 extends the knowledge;

“If you love each other, everyone will know that you are my disciples.”
‭‭John‬ ‭13‬:‭35‬ ‭CEV‬‬

  1. Thank you, Sara, for sharing “Your Friend Jesus” with us. That you took time to pen your thoughts and ‘knowing’ about Him, is truly a gift. It sure helped me to focus on Him as I spent some time slowly reading and thinking on all you wrote.

    It gave tangible substance to what this scripture from Philippians 4:8 tells us to do, “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

    Each sentence you wrote was like a separate chapter that provided a window to look in upon the many facets of His life and as you said, “The now and the eternal reign.”

    Your words bring Him to life and provide the blessing of the scripture you quoted, “Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us, even as we hope in you.”
    —Psalm 33:22 (NRSVUE)

    1. and, Debi, meditate on this scripture for a few moments!

      “Without question, the mystery of godliness is great: he was revealed as a human, declared righteous by the Spirit, seen by angels, preached throughout the nations, believed in around the world, and taken up in glory.”
      —1 Timothy 3:16 (CEB)

      read from the Amp ““And great, we confess, is the mystery [the hidden truth] of godliness: He (Jesus Christ) who was revealed in human flesh, Was justified and vindicated in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the nations, Believed on in the world, Taken up in glory.”
      ‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬ ‭AMP‬‬

  2.  Thank you, Sara! This “mystery of godliness” really is “great!”

    It looks as I read and meditate on what you shared, that God has revealed several aspects (I counted 6) in I Tim. 3:16 of this “great” mystery (“the hidden truth”).

    If something is hidden, then that must mean we cannot see it and must have to search for it, with God’s help, to find it and to understand and know Jesus better.

    I looked up some scriptures about this “mystery” and found:

    “That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit.” I Corinthians 2:9-11

    “His disciples came and asked him, “Why do you use parables when you talk to the people?” He replied, “You are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, but others are not.” Matt. 13:10-11

    “This message was kept secret for centuries and generations past, but now it has been revealed to God’s people. For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory.” Colossians 1:26-27

    1. Debi and Tammy and all our friends and others that read and share Our friend Jesus isn’t it wonderful to know we can just sit with our @coffee/tea, milk and cookies, even protein drink *and enjoy the joy of His presence?

      *drink or treat of your choice. I didn’t want to forget my big jug of water!

      1. Sara, you asked, “isn’t it wonderful to know we can just sit with our @coffee/tea, milk and cookies, even protein drink *and enjoy the joy of His presence?”

        Yes, it is.

        It reminded me of a chorus we have sung many times about this blessing:

        “In Your Presence, In Your Presence there is peace

        In Your Presence, In Your Presence there is joy

        I will linger, I will stay, in Your Presence day by day

        ‘Til Your likeness may be seen in me.”

  3. reading Gloria Gaithers’ new newsletter I just happened to pause on this and thought how God’s children are all reading the same Book! Nice to be a part of this Bood Club and share our stories, thoughts and love. Gloria writes;

    ”Finally, it is good to remember that even the best human friends fail. But there is a Friend who will never let you down, will never shade the truth, will never desert you when the going gets tough. This Friend could have chosen to call us many things–servants, subjects, underlings–because He was after all, God, living on our turf. But (He said it Himself) He chose to call us friends! God calls us friends!”

    1. Yes Debi I truly love and appreciate that chorus so often sung in our spiritual gatherings.

      It reminds me just how needful it is to sit awhile in the presence of the Lord with our cup of tea.He rightly states;

      “I am the Lord  your God, who brought you up from the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.” Psalms‬ ‭81‬:‭10‬ ‭CSB‬‬
