Sponge “Peacock”

As I was reading in early morning from Ezekiel 13, this passage of scripture really stood out to me
in light of the many things on our minds at this time.
It says: “The fact is that they’ve lied to my people…. When
people build a wall, they’re right behind them slapping on whitewash. Tell
those who are slapping on the whitewash, that when a torret of rain comes
and the hailstones crash down and the hurricane sweeps in. Then the wall
collapses, what’s the good of the whitewash that you slapped on so
liberally, making it look good.”

Having myself gone through Katrina here in Louisiana with all the wood that was soaked in the floods
and rot, I knew when the scripture said the storms came, the whitewash wall
would not stand. Today one of our pastors said that if you left a sponge in
the water that it would eventually rot. He explained that holding the word
of God Continue reading “Sponge “Peacock””

The Friendship Creation

After finishing the book, THE BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA by Katherine Paterson,Mrs. O
had her fifth grade students prepare a speech from the perspective of the main character,
Jess Aarons, who had matured into a well rounded adult. We were to
pretend that we were asked to give a speech on friendship. We were to
weave a metaphor or simile through their work using scenes from the story.
We were to share with the reader something of ourselves.

Here is my speech.
Entitled: The Friendship Creation

Hello! I am Jess Aarons, and I am here to talk to you about friendship.
This may not be interesting to you right now, but trust me it will one day.
You never know when your friend is going to disappear. I might talk about
friendship different than your teacher does.
I had a friend named Leslie. She was one of the most interesting friends I
had ever had. Well, Leslie Continue reading “The Friendship Creation”

LOVE YA

One morning you will never wake up.
Do all your friends know you love them?
I was thinking…I could die today,
tomorrow or next week,
and I wondered if I had any wounds needing to be healed,
friendships that needed rekindling or three words needing to be said.
Let every one of your friends know you love them.
Even if you think they don’t love you back,
you would be amazed at what those three little words and a smile can do.
And just in case GOD calls me home before I see you again…….
I LOVE YA!!!

Headlines: Oprah Gives Audience Members Debit Cards

Oprah Winfrey has famously given members of her audience new cars, paid off their debts and fulfilled their wildest dreams. Now she’s given them what she calls the “gift of giving back.”
On a show that aired Monday, Winfrey gave more than 300 audience members $1,000 debit cards sponsored by the Bank of America to donate to a charitable cause. Winfrey called the show her “favorite giveaway ever.”

“I can honestly say that every gift I’ve ever given has brought at least as much happiness to me as it has to the person I’ve given it to,” the 52-year-old talk-show host said. “That’s the feeling I want to pass on to you.”

People can give the entire sum to one person _ relatives aren’t eligible _ or they can split it among charitable causes. Audience members also received a DVD recorder to tape their stories for a future show.

“You’re going to open yourContinue reading “Headlines: Oprah Gives Audience Members Debit Cards”

RUTS to GUTTERS

This weekend I had the opportunity to make startling discovery about “change”, the new spiritual regime that is coming forth; the new shift in the Spirit; new ways of looking and perceiving in the Spirit; the new mandate in the Body of Christ. Yes! It is inevitable that change must come. And we need change; change that has integrity; unity, worth and divine purpose in the Church. I am just wondering, however, if it is also true that change for change’s sake is truly legitimate? Is the “change” being made truly mandated by the HOLY SPIRIT or is it the to the fancy of man that some of these changes are being instituted or established in the church?. In the Book of Acts which we have been studying under Gary, the Holy Spirit administered and executed the swift changes and innovations in the early BODY OF CHRIST that were of gargantuan proportion. Through His administration and tContinue reading “RUTS to GUTTERS”

Candles in the Darkness

How can I use my talents to glorify my Father in Heaven. As I was thinking about this question, I began to picture a room filled with darkness. This room is so dark you cannot see your hand in front of your face. Then I pictured one candle being lit in this dark room. I thought of how much light one little candle can produce. The dark room is engulfed with light from one little candle. Then I pictured two or three candles. Think about how much light is produced by two or three candles. The dark room is completely lit. The darkness is removed through the awesome light that shines in one, two, three or more candles that are brightly burning. These candles represent God’s children. When his children gather in darkness and use their talents for God’s glory, the darkness vanishes and the light takes over. This is awesome. As we use our gifts and talents to glorify the Lord we are destroyinContinue reading “Candles in the Darkness”
