Measure of a Man/Woman

You will find this same article under the title of “Measure of a Lie measures a man or woman!” right here on “The Daily Lily.” I posted this some months ago but it came clearly to me this morning that I should encourage us to read and study this article to help with some of the areas in our lives that we are dealing with at this time.

If you are like me, many times I open the page and look for something new and find out that something that was posted months ago may be just what I need to remind myself to get back on track, correct and encourage me. I would suggest that when we can we take time to reread our articles and let each of them minister to us.

I am so encouraged by all our articles and comments. Thank you for encouraging me and others.

How does one measure a Lie?
God Hates Lies! Proverbs 6:16 records this fact for us.

Touched my heart

Recently my heart was touched by a lady named Kathy Silverton. Read her story on this link.
http://www.stitchesfromtheheart.org/

When Kathy’s heart was touched by another she founded Stitches From the Heart, a nonprofit organization devoted to creating and sending handmade clothes for premature babies and babies from impoverished families. Every item is created with tender loving care and volunteers sometimes attach their names to the items. We at “The Daily Lily” would like to add our names to worthy cause.

Kathy and her volunteers happily teach people how to knit little clothes for “preemies”. The head of a full-term baby is approximately the size of a grapefruit. But a premature baby’s head is smaller – the size of an orange, or even a lemon. Stitches volunteers knit these tiny hats and also tiny booties, sweaters and blankets.

My Testimony

Biography:
God has allowed me to grow up in a missionary family in the country of Brazil. From one year of age until I was thirteen I lived in Brazil, and I helped my parents do missionary work in Brazil. As I grew up in Brazil I played with alot of street rascals in the streets of Brazil. I made close friends with a lot of street rascals. You could say that I was a street rascal my self, or at least that is what my Mom says. Many of times my friends would leave or dissappear. I thought that they had relocated to another part of the city or to another state. I didnВґt know but that was far from the truth.
At the age of thirteen God sent my parents and I back to the States for who knows how long. I graduated from high school, and God opened the doors for me to attend and graduate from Pensacola Christian College (PCC) with a Bible degree and Biblical Phsyc. minor. During my time at PCContinue reading “My Testimony”

Mums the Word for Fall

It’s time to decorate your fall garden, patio, porch or favorite pot (s) with hardy fall mums (chrysthanemum). You will see lots of bright colored ones available in garden centers right now. Here’s a few tips on how to keep them growing beautifully.

If you are planning to put them in your flower bed choose a sunny, well-drained spot. Dig a hole a little wider than the pot and just as deep as the soil ball. If your soil is not good, add 1/3 composted or organic material such as humus in with the existing soil to fill back in around the root ball. Put some time-release fertilizer in the planting hole according to label directions and water in thoroughly. Keep your mum well-watered if it doesn’t rain even when the weather turns chilly. Your mum still needs a drink. Remove/pinch off spent blooms and your mum should provide color for weeks. If youContinue reading “Mums the Word for Fall”

ice cream

In class the other day we were studying the three states of matter. I hope
this will be an exciting experience for the young at heart and those who are
about the age of my students (11 years old). First pour 1/2 cup of whole
milk into a quart sized baggy. Place 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 2
tablespoons of sugar in the milk and seal the bag. Place the quart sized
baggy in a gallon sized ziploc baggy. Cover the quart sized baggy with as
much ice as you can. Cover the ice with 1/4 cup salt. Seal the large bag
tightly. Shake and toss it until the ice cream is semi solid. Some of the
students on our hallway added chocolate to their milk. For all you young
scientist, remember that the salt lowers the freezing point of the water
which causes your mixture to become solid. This is a tasty treat that you
get a lot of exercise when doing. Hope you young people out theirContinue reading “ice cream”

Don’t Break Ranks

I heard a sermon that made be understand one tactic of the enemy. The
pastor said the reason the Roman army was strong is that they stood shoulder
to shoulder. If you wanted to weaken the defenses all you had to do was to
break up the stance of the soldiers. The enemy does this all the time. He
tries to tell you lies about your brothers and sisters in Christ. He tries
to break your rank. We wants you to throw in the towel. He wants you to
forget about where you are seated. If you believe in Jesus you are seated
with Him. He is in eternity and you are seated in eternity as well. Don’t
forget where you are seated. Don’t give up hope! Stand shoulder to
shoulder and withstand.

RETRO

I love the word RETRO! For one thing I can just drag any old thing out of my closet and it works. And another real important thing I can use my ‘old way of life’ and tell it to others without saying words I just don’t like, “we use to do it this way.”

Now about my Retro…for today. When things didn’t go right, we would write for a teacher or parent 100 times the opposite of what we just did.
This week I was having some real weak moments, Like my desk is a total complete disgraceful upside down mess. My closet looks like a summer breeze blew in and blew out without taking anything with it. My overall house looks like dust is a valuable piece of art. And, my gardens and patios are as decorative as if a hurricane came to visit but of course it didn’t.

I found myself speaking to myself in words not becoming to myself or to anyone in sight incContinue reading “RETRO”

Sherms’ Cleaning Tips

Removal for sticky residue from price tags on glassware or plastic

In a well ventilated area spray just a touch of WD40 on the sticky spot, wait a few seconds and with a cloth rub off and then wash spot with a degreaser, dish detergent (dawn, etc.), or all purpose cleaner. That’s it!!!!

Also good for rust removal on pipes or other metals.

Let me know if you have other questions on cleaning or hard to remove stains and spots and I’ll see what I can come up with.

Thought of another tip: To clean microwave and loosen the harden food. Put a boil of water in and bring to a steam and let the steam work to take it off. Continue reading “Sherms’ Cleaning Tips”
