HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY

The Rose of Sharon School of Learning wish all a
Happy Thanksgiving and thanks to all for stopping by today to visit.

We are thankful for so many things but we would like to share three things for which we feel most thankful.

1) We are thankful for this site that gives us the freedom to share and express our thoughts and faith.

2) We are so thankful for the new friends and the old friends that meet here often and share with one another.

We would like to share with our friends today one of our favorite poems:

NEW FRIENDS AND OLD FRIENDS

“Make new friends, but keep the old;
Those are silver, these are gold.
New-made friendships, like new wine
Age will mellow and refine.
Friendships that have stood the test-
Time and change-are surely the best;
Brow may wrinkle, hair grow gray;
Friendship never knows decay.
For mid old friends, tried and true,
Once more we our youth renew.
But old friends alas may die;
New friends must their place supply.
Cherish friendship in your breast-
New is good, but old is best;
Make new friends, but keep the old’
Those are silver, these are gold.

“The Book of Virtues” William J. Bennett and Chapter III Friendship on page 40 of “Throwing Your Light Forward.” Sara

3) We are also extremely grateful and thankful for the prayers and support we have received from so many for T as she has gone through cancer surgery, chemo and radiation in this past year and is on the road to gaining her strength and recovery.

We invite you to share with all of us three things you are most thankful for.

Blessings to All on this Thanksgiving Day, 05.
Sara and Gary

  1. Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Bloggers! I am so thankful to the Lord for all that He has done for me this year. I am grateful for this blog on which I may write my testimony. FIRST!! I am thankful for Jesus, my Savior and King.
    I am thankful for my Church where the Truths of the Faith are revealed and taught from the Bible.
    I thank the Lord that He was merciful to me and my family in the manner in which He took my mother, Sister Grandma, home to be with Him in a sweet, tender and gentle homegoing. I am thankful for the support of my friends during this difficult time.
    For all the blessings He has given me I thank Him profusely and with great gratitude.
    God is good, all the time. And I thank HIM!

  2. Three of the things I am most thankful for:

    1. I am thankful for Sara’s workshops and seminars that I have been able to attend. Lesson 8, A Flower of the Sun’, in her book “Dressing for His Glory” is particularly meaningful for me. It is about the sunflower and how it abounds in the work of the Lord. On page 42 of this book she writes, “I’m a great believer in work. I find the more work I do, the more work I’m given to do”. This principle has greatly impacted my life.
    Over the years as I have learned to employ it and practice it, I have seen my mental and physical health greatly improve. I have achieved much honor and financial success in my personal work and vocation of horticulture. Thanks, Sara, for your works of excellence.

    2. I am thankful for Stacie, one of my newer friends, who is a special education resource teacher who works with me (and others) at school and adds so much help and input. I enjoy reading her comments on this site.

    3. I am thankful for Wallace that comments on this site who has wisdom and educational insights. He’s the dog breeder that I got my Springer Spaniel, Promise, from who provides me with so much dog therapy.

    Also: poetry has always been a healing expression for me and I love this poem on friends.

  3. 1) family and friends
    2) health
    3) selling my dogs giving me an opportunity to do things for others that bring them such happiness as well as providing me an outreach in my second or thrid retirement. Also adding to our income to help with the health care for my wife.

    1. MG Henry writes: Wallace has a worthy ministry of raising dogs that do DOES bring such joy and comfort to us humans, especially in times of sadness, loneliness, or even just to entertain and give happiness. And your motivation of just that goal and the caregiving that you give to your spouse are very commendable. So I thank GOD for men like Wallace…integrity and wit. Good combo!!!
      Thanks, Wallace

  4. The three things I am thankful for:
    First, is my family, both here and on Long Island. I am thankful for my husband and two dogs who are all happy and wagging thier tails when I get home.
    Second, I am thankful for the people I work most closely with, specifically Debi. She is “Batman” and I am “Robin”, although sometimes we feel more like Abbot and Costello.
    Last, I am thankful for physical and mental health. I may not have all that I want out of life yet, but I am able to get up and around and exercise everyday. I am able to come to this site and share my thoughts and opinions. Finally I found people who will listen. 🙂
