Happy Valentine’s Day

“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength; loving someone deeply gives you courage. Lao Tzu

February always brings thoughts of Love while we find ways to celebrate a special day that is set-aside on the 14th day of February to let others know how much we care.

When we read and study the works of the Apostle Paul and others we find there is a struggle to love and to be loved. Yet, it is the number one thing God is looking for.

He starts with His church. There is where the problem starts. Yes, the church! Why, because we seemly spend more time on our disagreements than we do on our agreements. Our disagreements when focused on become a wall, a mountain, and a pain.

We have our favorite scriptures that are made in heaven and written in law just for others and of course not for ourselves.

God has given each of us a gift or gifts and we are encouraged to use our gifts to encourage, inspire and build up one another. I have found that when the church uses their gifts for this purpose love abounds.

When love abounds it covers a multitude of sins. God’s
Word is full of Love because God is Love.

Elizabeth Barrett Browning wrote:
“How do I love thee?
Let me count the ways.”

Jesus gave us a commandment:
I John 3:23 “Love one another the way I love you.”

How many ways does Jesus love us? How should we love others? As we celebrate Valentine’s Day’ let us count the ways He loves us. Can you name some?
“Happy Valentine’s Day to all!”

  1. As new Christians, we were admonished by elders in the church NOT to say that as it might cause controversy in the Body Of Christ. But, you know, GOD does love each of us the “THE BEST”. He loves each of us like no other human on earth could possibly love us; even when I am acting particularly UNLOVABLE or unlovely, to be more precise, God still loves me and seeks my higher good. I love Him for that. And of course, Jesus said that no greater love hath any man than he lay down his life for his friend. And that “no greater love” was demonstrated when Father God sent Jesus to die on the cross for me. If I had been the only sinner on the earth, Jesus would have died for me to release me from the bondage of sin. Thank You, Lord, for so great a love. It makes me want to serve You with all my heart, with all my mind because You first loved me and gave Yourself for me!!!
That is TRUE LOVE…JESUS, our ETERNAL VALENTINE!!!

  2. What a wonderful thought to think that Jesus loved us so much that He layed down His life for us. How wonderful that He places us in such high regard. He loves us, really loves us, which means you, me, and everyone who is now reading this Daily Lily and even those who haven’t yet started reading it. Lord Jesus we thank you for the editors, authors, etc. of this beautiful e-paper which brings people who love Jesus to the table of love to share their lives whom Jesus applauds as more than conquerors. May each at the table be blessed by Jesus this day with a special touch of love that only Jesus can bring through each other. Happy Valentine’s Day.

  3. In John 10:15, Jesus says I lay down my life for the sheep (us).
Jesus died that we may have eternal life.He also loved us so much that He bore our sorrows and was wounded for our transgressions and He received stripes so we could be healed….He gave His blood for forgiveness of sins….He came down from heaven as our living Bread…..He went back to heaven and sent the Holy Ghost that we may have guidance and comfort and help….and Jesus said He would never leave us nor forsake us….He gives us living water….and He gives us rest……and He is preparing a place for those that love Him…He also said if it were not so He would have told us …….What greater way for a man to show His love than He lay down His life …for a sinner………..dj

  4. Red is a traditional Valentine’s color and Jesus gave us the ultimate red valentine and then gave us a purpose for living as indicated in Revelation 1:5: “To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and made us kings and priests to His God and Father to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”
What a valentine of love.Thank you Jesus.

  5. Some ways to love others:
    1) Romans 12:9, 10 MSG “Be good friends who love deeply.”
    2) Romans 13:10 MGS “Don’t run up debts except for the huge debt of love you owe each other.” When you love others, you complete what the law has been after all along.”
    3) I Peter 2:17 MSG ” “Love your spiritual family”

I pray that Love flows from each and everyone today in the Body of Christ, with family, with friends, with all that we meet. That our acts of love will help to assure that others will be with us to join in the celebration when He arrives.

We pause in Your Holy Presence to remember You, Jesus, You are Love and we have been created in Your image and likeness. May we offer and give to all today and each day, Faith, Hope and Love. In Your Holy Name, we pray. Amen
