Work is a GIFT——–GARY

  1. Work is a gift! And ” good works” are a gift from God. I have been studying about WORKS this morning. It has been ESPECIALLY on my mind since thedailylily.com RETREAT and our WORD for this season….”WORK SMARTER”.
As I was reading in the Book of Titus, I saw in 1:16 that Paul writes to Titus about those who reject the whole counsel of God, and give into scientific myths and fables..he wrote this,” they PROFESS to know GOD but in WORKS they deny Him, being DISOBEDIENT in every GOOD WORK and so their GOOD WORKS are DISQUALIFIED!! All that for nought! Jesus said in Matthew 7:20-23, “By their fruits you shall know them. Not every one that says to Me, ‘Lord’ shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. But ONLY THOSE WHO CONTINUALLY do the will of My Father” Jesus says, just doing works won’t save you but it must be OBEDIENT WORKS, that which the FATHER approves and commands us to do. If not, they will just be wood, hay & stubble, burned up at the Judgment Time. There will be no reward for these disqualified works. Then Jesus goes on to say, “Many will say to Me in that day…’we prophesied in Your Name; we cast out demons in Your Name; we preached in the streets in Your Name AND DID MANY WONDERFUL WORKS in Your Name.’In other words we were doing works in Your Name. We could also say that we ourselves make many promises to God. We say we will do this work or that deed for the KINGDOM. We start out to obey and “DO” and keep our promises, but like what Paul said happened to DEMAS, this present world gets in the way and we spend our God Given resources, our God-given gift on something else. And this is the frightening part that makes me shake….”Then I will say to you….DEPART FROM ME. I NEVER KNEW YOU”
This is reminiscent of the teaching in Matthew 25:12 where the five virgins who did not WORK to keep their lamps lit….filled with the oil of the HOLY SPIRIT…and had to rush out to get more oil and upon their return found the door shut. Jesus said, “I NEVER KNEW YOU”. This is to the effect that if we do not continually do the KINGDOM WORK, obeying and keeping pace with what the SPIRIT desires us to do, we will fall short and the door will close.
Sara teaches that when the “Ezekiel Wheel” touches down by the Spirit, we must scurry and get on. We must be ready in season and out of season. Convenient or inconvenient. We must be doing the WORK constantly because Jesus said…” My Father works and I Work.” Should we be doing less than Christ or Father? If Jesus wants to find faith in the earth when He returns, the way HE will discover it is if He finds
HIS people WORKING. Those are the ones He will take with Him to HEAVEN.

  2. Amen MG. I also think of the many who are unable to work due to illnesses or advanced years. They would give anything to be up and about helping others or serving; however, they are unable too. Their time of working is over for a time or until they meet Jesus. We give praise to the Lord for our health which enables us to work and serve wherever we can. Health certainly is a gift from God, so work while we can so we won’t have any regrets about not having worked enough in serving.

  3. You are right, Rena. Thank God that we CAN work. I have heard stories of some of God’s people having regrets at their time of departure from this earth wishing, wishing, wishing that they had done more for the Kingdom. They WISHED they had WORKED harder, Wished they had given more, not only in FINANCES but in TIME.
I had been deciding whether or not I should try to carry my DAILYLILY.COM tote which would be yet another bag to carry on my trip. The Lord spoke to my heart decisively in this manner. ‘I carried the Cross for you. It certainly was not convenient, but I did it. Now you can carry this dailylily.com bag which proclaims to all who see it, the site where the MY GOSPEL is preached “25 hours a day. 8 days a week” Fold it up and put it in your suitcase to take and wear while you are away.’ YES, LORD! Thank YOU for pointing that out to me. THAT TOO WILL BE A GOOD WORK!!!

  4. I agree and I think Jesus must agree. When I read the parable of the talents in Matthew 25 and talents are given and used to make profit, seemly the reward is, give them another and another and another. Work and more work is a gift and reward.

I have some friends that run when they see me coming because they know that I am going to reward them and give then another gift of work. 🙂

  5. For a person to be given work to do and able to do it is a gift. Employers give us such a gift by hiring and paying us for it. God gives us kingdom work to do and then allows us to share in the fruits of our labor. God gives us work to do through employers who then pay us for our labors. God gave us His gift of work when He created the world. “He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done “ (Gen 2:2). Jesus gave the world the gift of His work while on earth through healings, salvation, teaching, deliverance, etc. “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.” (John 9:4). The Lord regards His work as “honorable, glorious and wonderful’ (Psalm 111:3,4). When we can see work in this way it may help us to see more as a reward and not to run from Sara!

  6. I believe that God will not give us work that HE won’t equip us to do, or that we cannot learn or grasp or pursue, or that needs skills that HE KNOWS we don’t have and that is not within the constitution of our AUTHENTIC SELF. But He will give us Work that is within our ken and for that which HE has gifted us to do.
So we just trust HIM and do the work that is set before us. As Sara said about the parables of the TALENTS, perhaps if we do a small job to perfection He will give us another and another and another to perfect.
Another way of saying “excellence or perfection” in a thing well done is it’s “the bees knees”!

  7. Work is a gift.
1 Corinthians 15:58 “So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always WORK enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.”
Ephesians 4:11-13 “Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his WORK and build up the church, the body of Christ. 13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.”
Ephesians 6:7-8 “7 WORK with enthusiasm, as though you were WORKING for the Lord rather than for people. 8 Remember that the Lord will reward each one of us for the good we do whether we are slaves or free.”
God wants us to work. It could be as simple as sharing his word with a friend. Not only does he want us to work but he wants us to be excited about what we are doing and he wants us to work hard. Do your job as if you were doing it for God. Hard honest work will bring income, respect, trust, ect… It doesn’t matter if you are digging a ditch or are a big time lawyer, as long as you are doing your job as if you were doing it for God. If God is not in the picture, the work is meaningless. We can all do something for God. He blesses us all with different talents. We can use our talents to work for him. “…..the Lord will reward each of us for the good we do……” WORK IS A GIFT…. NO MATTER WHAT KIND OF WORK IT IS!

  8. Needles, your creative way of defining work shows us what a terrific ‘Benefits Package’ one will receive when employed by it. And if the Lord’s company of believers uses their talents to work as chickenfarmer exhorts us to above, then even more can be accomplished for the Lord. The first five chapters of Nehemiah gives an account of one man, Nehemiah, who had it in his heart to work for the Lord and rebuild the walls of Jerusalem which had been broken down and the gates which had been burned. He sought God for this matter and then conveyed to the people that they would be prospered if they would arise and build. So many together put their gifts and talents to work. Nehemiah 4:6 tells the results. “So we built the wall and the entire wall was joined together up to half its height for the people had a mind to work”. They all received Needles benefits package and got a reward as chickenfarmer promised.
