Angels are everywhere all the time, 24/7. Abraham believed in angels, three came to visit him as house guest. Jacob sure believed in angels, he wrested with one all night long. He was touched by an angel. The angel gave Jacob a heavy blow on the thigh and he limped forever after that.
Daniel while having an overnight stay with the lions trembled when he saw the Lord’s angel appear with him. John, on the Isle of Patmos had such a dramatic experience seeing an angel, that he fell down as though he were dead.
Cherubim and seraphim are known as angelic host. They must be pretty powerful for they stand guard at the entrance to Eden. They sent plagues upon the Egyptians. They were not magic tricks, they were rivers and other water sources turned to blood. The killing of all fish and other water life, also disease on livestock. Hail mixed with fire. There were others as well as the death of the first-born of all Egyptian families.
Angels came to visit Jesus in the ‘agony of the garden.’ Angels are flames of fire and wind. They are young men dressed in white. They are messengers of God. And, we are given the instructions from Hebrews 13:2 amp, “Do not forget or neglect or refuse to extend hospitality to strangers [in the brotherhood–being friendly, cordial, and gracious, sharing the comforts of your home and doing your part generously], for through it some have entertained angels without knowing it.”
Then we have the fallen angels, the ones that left God and followed Lucifer. They are the ones that offer us temptations that counteract the blessings of The Holy One. Matthew 13:41-43 says, “The Son of Man (Jesus) will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the Kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear let them hear.”
When we find ourselves in the decision making of either yes to obedience to God and no to disobedience, we now know ‘disobedience’ is the suggestion of Lucifer and his angels. Obedience is a gift offered from God’s angels. Matthew 5:37, Jesus speaking says, “let your yes be yes and your no be no. For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.” And, James says “a double-minded one is unstable in all their ways.” (1:8)
Mary, the Mother of Jesus, said yes to an Angel. She could have said No! You and I have choices each day to say yes or no to decisions that could change the course of history. As Chickenfarmer stated in her blog “Are you too Big…” that we do not have to understand to be obedient. We just need Faith in the Holy One and trust in His Angels.
Do you believe in Angels? I do!
