Do you believe in angels?

Do you believe in angels? I do!

Angels are everywhere all the time, 24/7. Abraham believed in angels, three came to visit him as house guest. Jacob sure believed in angels, he wrested with one all night long. He was touched by an angel. The angel gave Jacob a heavy blow on the thigh and he limped forever after that.
Daniel while having an overnight stay with the lions trembled when he saw the Lord’s angel appear with him. John, on the Isle of Patmos had such a dramatic experience seeing an angel, that he fell down as though he were dead.

Cherubim and seraphim are known as angelic host. They must be pretty powerful for they stand guard at the entrance to Eden. They sent plagues upon the Egyptians. They were not magic tricks, they were rivers and other water sources turned to blood. The killing of all fish and other water life, also disease on livestock. Hail mixed with fire. There were others as well as the death of the first-born of all Egyptian families.

Angels came to visit Jesus in the ‘agony of the garden.’ Angels are flames of fire and wind. They are young men dressed in white. They are messengers of God. And, we are given the instructions from Hebrews 13:2 amp, “Do not forget or neglect or refuse to extend hospitality to strangers [in the brotherhood–being friendly, cordial, and gracious, sharing the comforts of your home and doing your part generously], for through it some have entertained angels without knowing it.”

Then we have the fallen angels, the ones that left God and followed Lucifer. They are the ones that offer us temptations that counteract the blessings of The Holy One. Matthew 13:41-43 says, “The Son of Man (Jesus) will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the Kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear let them hear.”

When we find ourselves in the decision making of either yes to obedience to God and no to disobedience, we now know ‘disobedience’ is the suggestion of Lucifer and his angels. Obedience is a gift offered from God’s angels. Matthew 5:37, Jesus speaking says, “let your yes be yes and your no be no. For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.” And, James says “a double-minded one is unstable in all their ways.” (1:8)

Mary, the Mother of Jesus, said yes to an Angel. She could have said No! You and I have choices each day to say yes or no to decisions that could change the course of history. As Chickenfarmer stated in her blog “Are you too Big…” that we do not have to understand to be obedient. We just need Faith in the Holy One and trust in His Angels.

Do you believe in Angels? I do!

  1. This great blog brings home the reality that there really is a ‘being” behind what we may think of as the ‘power of suggestion”. Sara writes “we now know ‘disobedience’ is the suggestion of Lucifer and his angels. Obedience is a gift offered from God’s angels.” That voice that spoke to Eve in the garden to disobey God and eat from the forbidden tree (chickenfarmer has referred to this quite a bit in her last blog and related comments) had a body. The ‘voice’ that may speak to us today to do wrong when we know to do right has a body attached to it also. And this ‘angel’ has come to “steal, kill and destroy” (John 10:10)…’counteract the blessings’ Sara said. “Obedience is a gift offered”. It makes me think of Deut 11:26.: “I have set before you this day a blessing and a curse…the blessing if you obey the commandment I have set before you…and the curse if you don’t”. So many gifts God has waiting to be opened and enjoyed …but real live thieves vying for attention, warring with the Holy angels of God to snatch them from us if we will but listen and succumb to their temptations. Thinking about angels like Sara presented them may make us think twice before we say no and follow the fallen angel. She said their final home address is the ‘furnace of fire’.

  2. Sara…..I believe very much in angels too…..your blog brought this to my mind..
When I was a little girl 5 or 6 I learned a song and now can seem only to recall just this portion
” All day, all night angels watching over me my Lord,
All day, all night angels watching over me”. I always thought there were two kinds good and bad…and that this song(hearing while little) spoke of both…and that I was asking God to protect me with the good ones…..yes I do believe in angels and have seen them in visions and had quite a few encounters with them…the Heavenly Holy ones…they do indeed watch over you…and protect you as you walk with the Lord. A few years ago I was in a car accident …the light was green and I proceeded to drive across the intersection when out of the corner of my eye I saw a vehicle approaching at a very high speed aiming straight for my driver side door…the reaction time was only time enough to say Jesus no….in a split second a blinding white light embraced me and shoved me to the right and then I felt the impact…had I not been physically moved by this being of blinding light my whole right side would have been seriously damaged…the door to my car was pushed into the steering wheel and seat…I was laying in the passengers seat..with the seatbelt still on..I didn’t think the belt could stretch that far.. So, yes, I do believe in angels….I believe also that one has written this blog on angels.:)

  3. Yes I do believe in angels. I believe they are hovering close by ready to help us.
When my children were small I was the designated driver to all swim meets. One day I was driving as usual and was approaching the stop light when Michelle yelled, “Miss Rena my shoes untied, please, please tie my shoe.” I thought oh my the light is green and at the same time I looked in my rear view mirror, seeing no one behind me I stopped and reached down and tied her shoe and at the same time a car had just run the red light at a high speed. We would have been killed. Yes angels are all around.

When my sister and I were very young our parents had gone to work in the garden after dinner. My sister somehow got into the kerosene which was for the lantern in case we lost power. Our dog at the time ran and got my Mom and Dad and luckily my sister Jean got to the hospital in time to pump per stomach. Angel in a dog, oh yes.

I do believe that whenever we need them God has them there just for us. They may seem like backdoor angels, but are up front when we need them.

  4. Psalm 91:9-12 “If you make the Most High your dwelling—
even the LORD, who is my refuge-

10 then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your tent.

11 For he will command his angels concerning you
    to guard you in all your ways;

12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.”

Just a day ago I felt to pray for two of my friends. Just to lift their names to the Lord for strength for their day. I quickly saw two very large angels @their work door. The above scriptures came to my mind to confirm my prayers. “He will command His angels concerrning them and to guard them in all their ways.

Don’t forget to pray for others when you remember them and share with them your joy in knowing He heard and answered.

  5. I, too believe in the existence of the Holy Angels of God and I know from Scripture that there are demonic, evil angels, as well. As written above the Holy ones stand in the presence of the Most High God to do His beckoning as ministering spirits sent to and for the saints of God.
Jesus said that we should care tenderly for the little children because THEIR ANGELS ALWAYS DO BEHOLD THE FACE OF THE FATHER IN HEAVEN…as to do His bidding for the protection of the little ones.
An angel spoke to Zacharia, announced to Mary, gave instructions to Joseph, proclaimed to shepherds in the Gospel of Luke.
In the Old Testament when Daniel was praying and interceding, the Arch-angel Michael stood before him. He had just done extensive warfare in the heavenlies for 21 days against the prince of the power of the air, the Prince of Persia. That is the demonic angel whose territory is over and controlling Persia, who was trying to hinder Michael’s bringing the answer from God to Daniel in answer to his petition.
Angels are humble. They have passed the test that Lucifer failed when he tried to exalt himself above the Most High God. The good angels’ allegiance is to the FATHER and in most ways their presence is subtle and reserved as they attend, us protecting us from harm.
I am not conscious of my angel(s) but I do know that they are real, they are ever guarding against the demonic angels who have an evil agenda against God and His people.
I thank God for angels and their ministry to God’s people.

  6. If one could say that they do not believe in angels, then I believe they do not believe God’s Word. Angels are clearly written about and supported in scripture. I like to think of angels as comforting beings. As we see in the scripture in Matthew 28: 1- 7 ” Early on Sunday morning, as the new day was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went out to visit the tomb. Suddenly there was a great earthquake! For an ANGEL of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled aside the stone, and sat on it. His face shone like lightning, and his clothing was as white as snow. The guards shook with fear when they saw him,and they fell into a dead faint. Then the ANGEL spoke to the women. ‘Don’t be afraid!’ he said. ‘I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is RISEN from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. And now, go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there. Remember what I have told you.” This ANGEL of the Lord was comforting to Mary Magdalene and the other Mary. After reading this blog,I have been reminded that; although, we have Godly angels, there are “fallen angels” also. Lord, help us to stay in the center of Your will, so when the “death angel” ( 2 Samuel 24:16 “But as the angel was preparing to destroy Jerusalem, the Lord relented and said to the DEATH ANGEL, ‘Stop! That is enough!’ At that moment the angel of the Lord was by the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.”) comes for us, our address will not be the “furnace of fire.”

  7. Read Revelation12:7-17 Angels will make War on the saints…I love vs, 9,10 The power of satan was broken, not by Michael and his angels, but the the death and resurrection of Christ.

From my reading of God’s word and each of your comments, I am very much aware that angels are very active and has much to do in the days ahead.

  8. Sara as I read the scripture you asked us to above, two verses stood out to me. As you said above, the ‘power of satan was broken by the death and resurrection of Christ.’ In vs 11, it says they overcome him (satan) by this action (the blood) and ‘by the word of their testimony and they did not love their lives to the death.’ How often we are exhorted here on The Daily Lily to speak up, to tell others of this overcoming power. As we do this, we overcome and that power of the evil angels can be broken in others’ lives as well as our own. Vs. 16 says the earth helped the women, opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood. This also says to me that we who live on this earth can open our mouths with the truth and the right word at the right time. This will help ‘swallow up the flood'(overcome)of evil words. So if we think about it, whose side will we be on in this war.

  9. Angels are talked about throughout the entire Bible from the beginning to the end. Here are a few scriptures, of their accounts: In Genesis 19: 1-22, the angels rescued Lot and his family from Sodom . An angel announced the birth of Jesus in Matthew 1:20-21, and Luke 1:26-37; 2:8-15. An angel helped Jesus in Matt. 4:11 and Luke 22:43. Angels helped the apostles over in Acts 5:19-20; 12:6-10. Angels will bring judgement, in Matt. 13:24-50; 24:31. Angels are serving in heaven, Revelation 7-10. Angels have always played a very important role in God’s Kingdom. Thank you Lord for your precious angels that help protect us from Satan and his demons.

  10. Chickenfarmer, in your communicate above about The Lord’s angels protecting us from Satan and his demons? Is Satan an angel? Are his demons angels?

2 Corinthians 11:14 ” for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.” Chickenfarmer, how did he do this?

You are right, angels are throughout the Bible, a few more experiences…

Acts 12:7 “Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists.

Revelation 8:5 “Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake.”

Revelation 8:12 “The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night.”

  11. Sara, Yes Satan and his demons are angels(fallen angels)
Rev.12:7-9 7Then there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon and his angels. 8 And the dragon lost the battle, and he and his angels were forced out of heaven. 9This great dragon-the ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world- was thrown down to the earth with all his angels.”
Luke 10:17-18 “17When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him,”Lord, eventhe demons obey us when we use your name!” 18″Yes,” he told them, “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning!”

FOOTNOTES 2 Cor. 11:14 Satan and his servants can deceive us by appearing to be attractive, good, and moral.
Satan is very clever and can be very deceiving. We must be careful and stay focused on Jesus at all times.

  12. Here is another angel story …this is from Mac Andersons book The power of Attitude….
    “Share Yourself…
one of my favorite habits in life is waking up early on Sunday morning, gettting the Sunday paper, making a hot cup of coffee, and kicking back to read about whats going on in the world, its my quiet time …my time alone to reflect and relax..One sunday morning about halfway through my little ritual, I spotted a headlline that read “Graduating Student Credits His ‘Angel”…and I began to read.
A young man who was graduating from college told the story about how Oral Lee Brown was his “Real life Angel”. In 1987 Brown a real estate agent in Northern California, saw a young girl in her neighborhood begging for money. When she went to the school the girl had claimed to attend, Brown couldnt find her, but that day she made a decision that would change the lives of many other children forever. She adopted an entire first-grade class in one of Oaklands lowest performing schools, and she pledged that she personally would pay for anyone who wanted to attend college. This would be a great story even if Oral Lee Brown was independently wealthy; however it is a much greater story considering she was a former cotton picker form Mississippi, making $45,0000 a year and raising two chldren of her own. Brown lived up to her pledge. Since 1987, shes personally saved $10,000 a year while raising donations for her “adopted first grade kids.. And because of her tremendous act of unselfish love, children who could have been swallowed by the streets are now graduating from college to pursue their dreams. We all seek our purpose in life. Most of us wonder how we can make a positive differnce during our brief time on this earth. But asking and doing are different things. Its hard to imagine that Oral Lee Brown wouldnt have a wonderful positive attiude, because she has thought less about herslef and more about others. This in my opinion, is a little secret that many people never quite understand about life……..

Shes quite an angel……I think so…dj(

  13. Thanks for reminding us chickenfarmer that there are fallen angels and that they “can deceive us by appearing to be attractive, good, and moral.” I recently saw two very well done British videos about demons. In one of them, “The Spirit of Jazz”, a young ‘jazz player’ has such an honest passion for music that he thinks he is a good musician even though someone else tries to tell him that he is not (reminds me of American Idol). In the video, the ‘spirit of jazz’ comes dressed up for the act to make him an offer, appealing to the young man’s desperation to make it big as a musician. All the poor musician can see is the fame that the demon man promises him (he doesn’t even see the fire coming out of his hat, thinking it is part of the act). He signs on the dotted line, unknowingly selling his soul to this devil. Scene changes in the video and this same young man is now much older and attempting to warn a ‘young musician’ aspiring to be a rock star of the pitfall by telling him his story of the demon encounter. He tries to remind this obsessed rock musician (who can’t sing either)of his love of animals and
vocation as zookeeper. He won’t hear, doesn’t want that anymore, curses him and walks away. What this video said to me was that demons are real and they are out to prey upon misguided passions, lie to us and prevent us from developing our true gifts and authentic selves. Yes chickenfarmer, the devil is slick. He want us to believe a lie about ourselves. He comes all dressed up and we don’t even recognize him.
The second video was about rock musicians singing about demons in such a way as to invite others to join them in invoking them. Then Stonehenge appears, dropping down from the sky with druids dancing around it. I thought it was a clear and accurate hellish portrayal of the power of music and lyrics to summon demons and let people know that this is real. After all,Stonehenge is a real place and people really do refer to themselves as druids even today.
I thought both videos were great moral teaching tools showing demons for who they are and the dangers of consorting with them and their power to influence and deceive us. Somewhere I have heard it said that knowledge is empowerment. Knowledge of the truth of both good and bad angels empowers us to live victorious lives in Christ.

  14. You are right Chickenfarmer…Satan can decieve us he and his servants that is why we must read the Word and study the Bible and I can think of no better way than to get Garys Bible study guide and go through it in a year….Im trying it this year and who ever reads this blog should be motivated into buying this study guide and go through it….they are just 4.50 ea.
