  1. When I was a small child I was very much afraid of the dark. As I cowered behind a chair my mind came up with a lot of negatives that thank goodness never were developed. Many times through life fear has raised its head parading negative thoughts. So overwhelming were the thoughts that they paralyzed you in the darkness and for days ahead. Dwelling on the negatives is being on the dark side. No light, no love, no joy, only torment. Practice I John 4:18 There is not fear in love: but perfect love casteth out fear; because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. Psalm 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Therefore place yourself like I have under the shadow of the Almighty wing, He is our covering, know that everything will be all right because of God’s love.

  2. Guard and keep [with the greatest care] the precious and excellently adapted [Truth]…”

Rena, I agree,” negative is darkness.” I see negative is untruths, positive is truth and truth is Light and Light is Jesus.

We have often heard that our life will always go in the direction of our most prominent thoughts? The Word of God gives specifics ” guard and keep with the greatest care the precious and excellently adapted truth.”

Then we have the Conscious vs. Subconscious, we are always reading new research on this subject and at times a little fearful such as the sub was filled with info to deliver to us by age 5. Based on your comment about fear as a child the sub got a room filled with untruths. But you found truth in the book of life I John 4:18.

The Truth of God’s Word empowers us to overcome every negative. We can store God’s truth in our hearts at any age and I believe by faith in God when we obey the truth it will knock out all the negative storage before age 5 of subconscious coming to give us a hopelessness.

  3. …true it is a dark room and it is true a whole lot of negetives get developed there…take form and it is seen, felt and actually passed on…see Saras, blog on GP.(Generational Negetives)… that room…its bigger than one may think…..dj

  4. Sara your statement ..” I believe by faith in God when we obey the truth it will knock out ALL the negative storage before age 5 of subconscious coming to give us a hopelessness” is a very powerful truth! Can you elaborate more on this?
I understand from reading God’s Word that “… you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” and I have already experienced much freedom from the torment of fear studying and trying to practice many of your Biblical teaching principles over the years but sometimes it still tries to rear its ugly head. Having suffered much from anxiety (a terrible form of generalized fear) you encouraged me to get up and get to work using my God given abilities to contribute to His kingdom rather than stay immobilized and useless from fear. I often remind myself of the quote you used in one of your workbooks, “Dressing for His Glory” by Dr. Karl Menninger, the famous psychiatrist we associate with the Menninger Clinic. Practicing this advice has helped me so over the years to get free from debilitating fear and anxiety. Dr. Menninger was asked this question: “What would you advise a person to do,” asked one man, “if that person felt a nervous breakdown coming on?” Most people expected him to reply, “Consult a psychiatrist.” To their astonishment, he replied, “Lock up your house, go across the railroad tracks, find someone in need and Do Something to help that person.”

  5. Debi, I am not sure what you are asking me about my statement. I will quote my words again here and see if this helps you with my statement, if not, please ask again.

“The Truth of God’s Word empowers us to overcome every negative. We can store God’s truth in our hearts at any age and I believe by faith in God when we obey the truth it will knock out all the negative storage before age 5 of subconscious coming to give us a hopelessness.”

  6. A great man once said, “we have nothing to fear but fear itself.” Fear is a magnified spirit of ‘anti-Christ’. It comes against the perfection of God’s pure love . Fear is an unreasonable, hateful foe against unfathomable, unsearchable LOVE…. that is, GOD! For God is LOVE.
Psalm 91 says, “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High, shall abide under the the shadow of the Almighty WHOSE POWER NO FOE CAN WITHSTAND. He will give His angels charge over you to uphold you in danger lest you strike your foot against a stone and stumble. I believe that means SPIRITUALLY as well as Physically.
If we have been redeemed then we abide in the secret place of GOD and
there shall no calamity befall you nor plague come near. That is the promise to those who dare to dwell under the Shadow of GOD.
Sara wrote a song THE WAITING ROOM, the lyrics of which sing like this:
“In His Room there’s no fear, no strife or unbelief that is why I must waitin His Room “

  7. When I was a child I was afraid of the dark. This FEAR brought NEGATIVE thoughts to my head. My heart would beat faster because I was afraid and my sense of hearing was always greater, because I heard every noise much clearer and louder. Sometimes I would leap out of my bed and run as fast as I could to my mom’s room and sleep next to her where I felt safe. Sometimes I would sleep with the light on. Sometimes I would wake up my brother and tell him I was afraid. He would tell me that it’s o.k. and try to make me feel better. Other times I would lay very still and pray that I would fall asleep quickly. I couldn’t wait to see the light coming through my window every morning. FEAR : Psalms 34:4 “I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from ALL my FEARS.”
DARKNESS: Psalms 18:28 “You light a lamp for me. The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness.”
John 1:4-5 “4 The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”
John 12:35-36 “Jesus said, “My light will shine for you just a little longer. Walk in the light while you can, so the darkness will not overtake you. Those who walk in the darkness cannot see where they are going. 36 Put your trust in the light while there is still time; then you will become children of the light.”
1 Peter 2:9 “….. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.”
As I look back on my childhood fear of darkness, I realize that it was not a negative thing to be afraid of the dark. The verses above warn us about darkness. …..Walk in the light while you can, so the darkness will not overtake you……. Now when I sleep, I sleep in the light. Although, I don’t have a lamp on in the house, I have a light in my heart named Jesus. This light in my heart is always on and has taken away ALL my FEARS. I am no longer afraid of the dark, but I am cautious of it. I never want darkness to overtake me so I can’t see where I am going. Jesus is my light.

  8. WHOA Chickenfarmer, thanks for reminding us to keep the light that is in our heart burning at our feet.

Knowing your fearlessness now makes it hard to believe that you had any fear. You sure have overcome. What a message to share with others that are struggling with fear.

  9. Passage 1 Corinthians 13:11 “When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; now that I have become mature, I am done with childish ways and have put them aside.”

After I read your above comment, Chickenfarmer, I thought on the above passage and begin to see once again just how real God’s Word is.

  10. It seems to me that Satan knows that we are done with childish ways and so he has a few more tricks up his sleeve as we get older. My fears of hiding behind a chair seems to taken on new disguises as I aged. I had a car incident and was almost afraid to drive anywhere. Without a friend saying get back in the car now, I would hate to see where I would be. Then I had a fear of driving long distances, but I did it and overcame. Then came a move across a 23 mile long bridge which was frightful to travel in a storm and was frightful to me at first no matter the weather conditions. These of course seemed minor to me in light of what I faced at home. Fear took on a different form just like a shape shifter. He roared forth in my spouse day after day. The more I cowarded, the more he roared. I knew it was a control issue and no matter how hard I tried there was always something new I had to stand up to. It seems when Satan knows a weakness he keeps on poking at that weakness or will shape shift to work through another vehicle, perhaps your children. He works through those you love. Beware of Satan and the shape shifter vehicle he uses.

  11. “Fear is the dark room where negative develops.” Rena, you have given us a different thought on this quote. Fear opening doors for others to mistreat us. Our fear mixed with another’s control or other negative can cause an explosion.

It seems fear is like a chemical that is stored in the dark room waiting for the negative behavior to walk in a develop their picture.

This seemly would call for a major change to close off all access to this room. Then rediscover why it is there in the first place and then close it down as a dark room and make it a light sunny room. Much like a beautiful sun porch with white wicker furniture and beautiful colorful cheerful floral fabric where those of cheerful happy (blessed) attitude would care to enter. This room would have the guest of the Holy Spirit and all that enter would be guided and directed by Him and not him.
