  1. I think that is a great quote. “Up ” people are fun to be around, mostly.
However, glumness is catching. When someone is preoccupied, morose, worried or terribly perplexed it’s sort of catching, like the flu. And the Bible does say, laugh with those who laugh, rejoice with those who rejoice and cry with those who weep. but I guess it depends on what one is weeping over.
So, ultimately the quote is right on. Reach out to the distressed and show care and compassion. Sounds like God to me.

  2. I agreed with you MG as Christians we have a responsibility to show others we care regardless of the state they or we are in. Sounds like Proverbs 31 to me wrapped in many beautiful colors from Ecclesiastes and the teachings of Jesus.

  3. Barbara called me early am today to share with me that her nephew, Frankie, had died last night. From my understanding it came as a real shock to the family. I believe Frankie was in his 40’s and had asthma and had an attack. This is Charles’ son which many of you know.

This quote quickly took on new meaning to me. I am sure glad I had read it before I went to sleep last night.

“The genuinely happy person shares his joy and reaches out to those who are in distress. Show him that you care.”

Our prayers, love, thoughts and concern reach out to Charles and his family at this time.

  4. I am saddened by the untimely death of Charles’ son. My heart goes out to the family and condolences and sympathy. May the Lord comfort the family and bring solace to alll

  5. I would like to offer my sympathies to Charles and family. May God bring His special touch of comfort and care that He knows each one needs at this difficult time. May His peace guard and keep each family member’s mind and heart resting in His love.

  6. ……and he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb…In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve kinds of fruits,….and the leaves of three were for healing of the nations….and there shall be no more curses, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and his servants shall serve him;….and they shall see his face; .(rev…22)………they shall see His face…May God comfort you and keep you …..know that Charles is cheering you on with that great cloud of witnesses……I pray the Holy Ghost wrap His loving arms about the whole family surrounding you with that peace that passes all understanding…..dj

  7. Show him/her your joy… reach out to the distressed. Show him/her that you care.
I have a wonderful example of this. I know of a lovely woman inspired by the Holy Spirit who reached out to a child with a special book. This book had helped the lovely lady to stand and with stand her Father’s death of many years prior. Once meeting a young child about the age she lost her own Father she was overwhelmed with love and compassion. She prayed for the child, she lifted her up daily, and she reached out to the child through a book that had helped her so many years ago entitled Emily of New Moon by L. M. Montgomery. Through this lovely lady God touched a child. It would have seemed like an unlikely meeting in reality. How would their paths have ever crossed. IT WAS JESUS THAT”S WHO!!!! Jesus has such a love that He allowed the lady to speak a word, reach out, and send help through a book. Thank you God for helping those who don’t even know how to say help me. Thank you for your abiding love.

  8. I’ve always been taught that “happiness comes from within”. When we are focus on Jesus and studying his word we are happy and have joy in our heart. Although we will have some hard times we can still be happy. God never promised this life would be an easy one. Happiness and joy come from our Lord. As long as we are focused our happiness continues through life, through the good times and bad times. With a happy, focused heart we are able to help others, who are in distress. If we are happy and focused when things are going good, and falling apart when life is bad, we can not be effective for our God. We don’t need to lose our focus in bad times. We don’t need to focus on our problems; just focus on our Lord. He will take care of it. It will pass. Keep focused with a Happy heart. Let the joy of Jesus be overflowing in our hearts, through the good times and bad times. Help the ones in distress, even when we are in a storm. Let the distressed ones see the happiness and joy in our hearts and not our storms. Let the words of LOVE, WISDOM, JOY AND PEACE flow from our lips. Proverbs 15:15 “For the despondent, every day brings trouble; for the HAPPY heart, life is a continual feast.”
Romans 12:14-16 “14 Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them. 15 Be HAPPY with those who are HAPPY, and weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all!
Psalms 19:8 “The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living.”
1 Peter 1:8-9 “YOU LOVE HIM EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN HIM. THOUGH YOU DO NOT SEE HIM NOW, YOU TRUST HIM; AND YOU REJOICE WITH A GLORIOUS, INEXPRESSIBLE JOY. 9THE REWARD FOR TRUSTING HIM WILL BE THE SALVATION OF YOUR SOULS.”
Thank you Jesus for our happy hearts, the joy within and the opportunities to share this joy with those in distress.

  9. I would also like to express my sympathies to Charles and family.
Jeremiah 31:13 “….I will turn their mouring into joy. I will comfort them and exchange their sorrow for rejoicing.” Lord, touch this family and help them through their time of grief. Bless each and everyone one of these precious people.

  10. I would also like to express my sympathies to Charles and family. May the Lord
strengthen the family in the days ahead. May the pitchers of heaven water your lives as you grieve over and remember this precious life. May the waters cause new heavenly growth – a strengthening and stance that only Jesus can give. May you know that someday you will be reunited with faces all aglow – rejoicing in Jesus.

  11. This thought came to me as I re-read theis quote….from proverbs 17;22…”a merry heart doeth good like a medicine…but a broken spirit drieth the bones.”…If we keep our hearts with all diligence and our minds thinking on those things that Jesus said to think on “whatso ever things that are pure of good report. think on these and..on Him….then we will be filled with His joy and we will have strength and our hearts will be merry and we will have true medicine to share……just like the Daily Lilies are doing……sharing:)
