“I am Free”

I went to a local Bible study for women, yesterday, and was so blessed by the song we sang. Here are the lyrics:
I Am Free by Jon Egan
D
Through you the blind will see.
Through you the mute will sing.

G
Through you the dead will raise.
Through you all hearts will praise.

Bm7
D
Through you the darkness flees.
Through you my heart screams I am free.

D
I am free to run (I am free to run)

G
I am free to dance (I am free to dance)

Bm7
Asus
I am free to live for you (I am free to live for you)

D
I am free (I am free)

Don’t these lyrics, just bless you?

  1. Yes, love the lyrics. Can’t wait to sing and dance along with you. I especially love the lyric “I am free to live for You.” I am so blessed to live in a nation where we are free to live for Him both privately and publicly. May Our Nation and the Nations of the World continue to have this privilege. May we be a vital organ in keeping this freedom as a staple in the lives of all that desire to live their lives in this freedom. We are free, let freedom Ring!!! Thanks, Needles and blessings to your local Bible Study.

  2. I, too, like this praise song. It confirms the truth written by Paul in Galatians 5:1…”It was for FREEDOM that Christ has set us free.”

  3. Thanks for sharing this song Needles and for sharing the guitar chords. It reminded me of this scripture also: “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed!” John 8:36

  4. As I reread the lyrics to this song, I began to be even more mindful of how grateful I am to just have the FREEDOM to worship Jesus. I know that in some parts of the world, many are not free to even speak His name. Some may have severe persecution for even being a Christian.

  5. Amen, Needles, if we paused and thought of how it would be to live in darkness and call out for help and no one to help we would learn the art of worship. Jesus said in John those that worship me will worship me in spirit and truth.

  6. Thanks Sara… your explanantion of worship takes it way out of the realm of singing a worship song corporately or privately.
This verse of song “I am free to run (I am free to run)” shows us we have work to do…work to do for those souls crying out.
“…and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith…” Heb 12:1-2

  7. What a beautiful song for those of us who love Jesus. On the other hand, this reminds me of what Sara said on Sunday about the play Jesus Christ Superstar. There was a dark blanket with heads beneath them screaming out. Lord we ask that each one that cries out today will hear your voice and will be among those singing this sung which Needles has placed here. Lord if we are the ones who have contact with these individuals may we speak the words of LIFE, Hope, and LOVE of our Savior to cause them to worship and help other escape the darkness o as Sara mentioned above. May there always be someone to help the person under the blanket of darkness escape into the light of Jesus.
