Wisdom’s Way

Proverbs 29:1 “Whoever stubbornly refuses to accept criticism will suddenly be destroyed beyond recover.”

Here are the footnotes from my Bible on the above scripture: “Warnings rarely come with countdowns. We can’t tell when we’ve had our last chance to change. When we, like the person in this proverb, refuse to consider valid criticism, we leave ourselves open to sudden disaster.

The moment we realize that a change is necessary is the best moment to take action. What significant adjustments have been on hold in your life for too long?”

  1. Thank you Tammy for this stunning revelation from the Word of God.
I believe that this is just what Jesus is saying in the Book of Revelation 22: 7 …
“Behold I am coming speedily. Happy are those who observe, lay to heart and keep the truths of this prophecy (Revelation) and the warnings in this Book.” And this is the scary part. “Let he who is UNRIGHTEOUS, unjust and wicked keep right on being wicked, unrighteous, disobedient and rebellious. Let he who is vile, filthy, irreverent keep right on being vile and filthy. (.11a)
Looks like the person(s) mentioned above have been given their last chance to change and they have ‘blown” it. No more time. No more rejecting the grace and mercy of God. No more postponing the drawing pull of the Holy Spirit. No more! For He has been rejected for the last time. God says My Spirit will not always strive with man.” If we think we can procrastinate and put off the admonition, warnings, couselings, reprimands, exhortations of the Holy Spirit, even delivered through a human agent speaking by the anointing, into our lives we have rejected so to speak, the Holy Spirit of God and that sin is unto death. 1st John speaks of the sin unto death. It cannot be reversed and it cannot be prayed for.
My Father in Heaven, we pray for all those who have had warnings and counsels concerning the call of the Holy Spirit to change and reject those demonic spirits that hinder the Lord’s work and frustrate His church. These are the saved ones who have rejected any more work in their lives and the crucifying of the flesh that must take place, the humbling and reconsecration and obedience that must proceed and accompany the CHANGE. Help us, and (them) to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. In Jesus’ Name We petition and pray. Thank You Father.

  2. Needles this is a sobering ‘black and white’ scripture of God’s righteous judgement. A stubborn heart is surely a hardened one.
This Bible’s subtitle is: Warning against unbelief and reads:
” So, as the Holy Spirit says:
“Today, if you hear his voice,
    do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion,
during the time of testing in the desert,
where your fathers tested and tried me
and for forty years saw what I did.
That is why I was angry with that generation,
and I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray,
and they have not known my ways.’
So I declared on oath in my anger,
‘They shall never enter my rest.’
See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first. As has just been said:
“Today, if you hear his voice,
    do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion.” Heb 3:7-15

  3. Gee Needles, could you not have waited a few minutes to post this? I got a criticism within minutes that I needed to do but didn’t want to. This sure put a little fire under my feet. I sure hope I don’t reject help from others and fade into that never to return land. This scripture speaks to me and says ‘don’t roll the dice once to often.”

Thank you for being timely and obedient to post this.

  4. I have to admit that I don’t always like criticism either, but I sure don’t want to be stubborn, like the scripture says. When corrective criticism comes, I must accept it, so that I can work on the change that is necessary. I don’t want to be “destroyed beyond recover.”

  5. Wow Needles this is just what we all need to hear, thank you. It seems that often we see but we don’t see. The spirit speaks and then God sends someone like unto yourself to confirm the nudges of the Holy Spirit. We need to change, break away from the wrestling match and choose life as the following scripture says:

    John 6:63

The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.
John 6:62-64 (in Context) John 6

Another thing that scares me is that if I don’t get it right that God will cut off my prayers.

  6. Thinking about Pastor Gary of Christ Church Int message last week on the Holy Spirit in regards to corrective criticism and change. Here is a reason to change, Pastor Gary said: “You honor God so that God is honored by the transformation of Him in our lives.” That made a real impression on me. I can see God standing there saying, see there is one of my kid’s, they did it.

  7. Proverbs 29:1 in the AMP. reads. HE, who BEING OFTEN REPROVED, hardens his neck anyway, shall SUDDENLY be destroyed and that without remedy.
Rena is right. No remedy….is….God will not hear (or answer) our prayers. THAT EQUALS “without remedy” because as Gary taught and Rena reiterated..without the aid of the Holy Spirit, that is God’s answering our prayers, WE CANNOT and WILL NOT CHANGE. Hlp us Lord to hear, to SEE and to change.

  8. If instead of hardening our necks and refusing to change, we humbly submit and bow to accept the yoke of Jesus on our necks we will find rest.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matt 11:28-30

  9. In the Message Bible, Proverbs 29:1 reads, “For people who hate discipline and only get more stubborn, there’ll come a day when life tumbles in (overtakes) on them and they BREAK! But by then it will be too late.”
It’s like the saying TOO LITTLE TOO LATE. And I believe with some of us …it’s not that we stand before GOD and shake our bony fist at HIM and say “I WON”T CHANGE” because that’s too obviously defiant. It’s more like we just plod along, procrastinating, putting off the change, wallowing in a morass of life style. Jesus says in the Book of Revelation….”you appear to be alive, but you are dead! You have a reputation for vigor and zest , for being a hard worker, but you are dead…stone dead. You have all BUSYWORK. Nothing of God’s work have you completed. Nothing completed of the works of the gifts I have given you to do….not finised, incomplete! Wake up!! Stand up!! Your condition is truly DESPERATE!! Take a stand against this negligence of MY work and get busy doing what I have given you to do for ME. If you pull the covers back over your head on this one, I will return when you least expect it and break into your life and you will not know what has hit you!!”
Christians Let us ALL be aware that the work of our hands is what the Lord has given us to do. Let us be obedient to the call of GOD on our lives. He’s not fooling around. He means business. And it’s too late in our lives or this era, or age, too close to the END that we have any more time to procrastinate and not take warning and counsel and discipline ourselves. We must make sure that the work of our hands is not just that…OUR HANDS and not what GOD has given us to do in these end times. Yes He is a good and loving God. That’s why we should obey Him. I want to be with Him for eternity. There’s only one way that will happen. BE OBEDIENT.
