  1. When reading today’s rendering I immediately thought of the Bible story of Jesus, in the boat with His disciples, when the furious and deadly storm came up on the seas.. They were horribly frightened and feared for their lives. It seems they didn’t recognize that they had the LIGHTHOUSE right there in the vessel with them.

    1. MG remember this song? “Oh I thank God for the lighthouse
I owe my life to Him
      King Jesus is the lighthouse
      Upon the rocks of sin
He has shone a light around me
      That I could clearly see
If it wasn’t for the lighthouse
Then where would this ship be.”

  2. I grew up around the Atlantic Ocean where we could see this very lighthouse as pictured here. I read on Wikipedia; “The treacherous seas off the Outer Banks and the large number of shipwrecks that have occurred there have given these seas the nickname Graveyard of the Atlantic. The Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum is located in Hatteras Village near the United States Coast Guard facility and Hatteras ferry.” It is also said; “Ocracoke was the home base of pirate Edward Teach, better known as Blackbeard.”

Can we just imagine a ship in these turbulent waters looking for a light. Bodie Island Lighthouse
located near Oregon Inlet. Cape Hatteras Lighthouse…Located on Hatteras Island at Buxton and others waving their ‘ray of light’ signaling a safe haven.

Yes, a Lighthouse located just in sight called ‘Jesus’ where our souls at times seems so wrecked from sickness, homelessness, family fights, wars and other dark hopeless situations can find the strength to glide into safe shores. Look for the Lighthouse!

      1. MG, you are in the presence of Jehovah…At times it seems only the mind can grasp the Light and then comes eye and ear gate worship. We are then awakened to our safe haven.

Darkness vanish and hearts are healed in the presence of God Almighty. I thank God for the Lighthouse.

  3. Ray Boltz – sings;

    “i have journeyed
    through the long dark night
    out on the open sea
    by faith alone
    sight unknown
and yet his eyes were watching me

    CHORUS
    the anchor holds
    though the ship is battered
    the anchor holds
    though the sails are torn
i have fallen on my knees
as i faced the raging seas
    The Anchor Holds,”

    1. that is one of my favorite worship songs. I’m hanging on, Lord. right now I need a ship and the LIGHTHOUSE…and Jesus the Anchor.

  4. “Wonder what a ship in the dark of a storm thinks when she sees a lighthouse…”
perhaps a ship thinks….all is not lost; there is a way to safety in the storm if I stay focused on the light of the Lighthouse and keep moving toward it rather than looking at the waves or the darkness. There is secure footing ahead though I am in deep waters now.

    1. How appropriate.!! “Though I am in deep waters now. ” That’s just about where I am right now. In waters , fortunately or unfortunately, NOT to swim in, depending on one’s view point. In Ezekiel it was shown the “waters” of the Spirit in which one could immerse oneself…waters to swim in. What I am going through right now is a flood in my home, with waters to slosh through. But I will keep my eye on the Lighthouse because there is a LIGHT at the end of this channel.

      1. MG,
Interesting what the devotional book, “Jesus Calling”, by Sarah Young says for February 18th, the day you posted this. Read with me: “I AM WITH YOU. These four words are like a safety net, protecting you from falling into despair. Because you are human, you will always have ups and downs in your life experience. But the promise of My Presence limits how far down you can go. Sometimes you may feel as if you are in a free fall, when people or things you had counted on let you down. Yet as soon as you remember that I am with you, your perspective changes radically. Instead of bemoaning your circumstances, you can look to Me for help. You recall that not only am I with you, I am holding you by your right hand. I guide you with My counsel, and afterward I will take you into Glory. This is exactly the perspective you need: the reassurance of My Presence, and the glorious hope of heaven.” Yes, He is our lighthouse!

  5. Yes TH I saw that in my JESUS CALLING book, too. How absolutely that ministered to me. “Funny” how God catches us at every moment of our “free fall” so to hold us from thrashing around in foul “WATERS”.) Thank, T.H. for that confirmation.!
