If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Prayers for our nations, the nations of the world and all peoples. Psalms 2:8, The Amplified Bible, says, “Ask of Me, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession.”
Our God in heaven, I come before You on behalf of the leaders of the world in accordance with I Timothy 2:1-2, “… urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men I intercede and give thanks for kings and all in authority and expect to live a quiet and peaceable life. II Thessalonians 3:1-2… The heart of the king is in Your hand and You will turn it whichever way You choose (Proverbs 21:1). I ask You to direct the heart and mind of our world leaders to make decisions that will lead our countries in Your ways and according to Your Word.
When I see so much hurt and pain I fumble through God’s Word to find answers and words to offer back to Our Heavenly Father for help and hope.
The other day, driving to school, listening to the headlines, I cried out to the Lord in the car, “Lord, what is happening to America and to the Americans? Don’t allow this to happen to us and our people, please Lord!
Then, I felt the Holy Spirit’s prompt. ‘You know what to do. Are you praying strong prayers? “If the people who are called by MY NAME will humble themselves……..” And the whole Scripture promise rose up in my mind and spirit.
Thank you, Sara, for the encouragement that while we are looking to God to DO SOMETHING, He is looking to us to see if we are doing our part of the covenant so that He can and will heal our land.
As I was walking along the Lakefront this morning, I heard the toll of the church bells. I wondered how many listened and went on their way or how many thought I’d better hurry along or I’ll be late for the church service. What is your perspective on this? Lord from all the stats that tell us fewer people go, perhaps it will change with all the problems American is facing and the nations that Jesus holds in his hand. Will we fall to our knees. As Jesus holds the Earth He must weep – too many senseless killings – too much distruction, too much hate. We too Lord weep as we see the same things that the other nations are going through, happening right here in the USA. God as Sara quotes you have said if we would humble ourselves you would heal our land. Lord what does humble mean to you, I can only speculate as I look at your word. You have always wanted a people who loved you. You have always wanted a people who are obedient, not as a punishment but because you want what is really GOOD for us and it is freeing. No addiction to things but a LOVE that causes us to STAND and with STAND on a HILL, not shifting sand, and fight with the Sword of the Spirit all that batters us and the ones you have called to be in fellowship with us. We are called to love this nation so we STAND on the HILL, ROCK, WORD of the Lord and we ask for revival. We ask for people to humble themselves and turn their focus to the things JESUS has instructed us to. First we repend, renew or accept Jesus as our Savior, and take up the greatest commandment that we LOVe on another. We STAND together in Jesus name and call America to a Jesus stance for this Country. We too will cry for America until this Stance is taken and ALL is WELL in the USA before the bell tolls for the final time.
Sara, your scripture and Rena’s comments call to remembrance a poem written by John Donne that I suppose we all had to learn in High School. FOR WHOM THE BELLS TOLL
No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thine own
Or of thine friend’s were.
Each man’s death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.
Exodus 17:14; “After the victory, the LORD instructed Moses, “Write this down on a scroll as a permanent reminder, and read it aloud to Joshua: I will erase the memory of Amalek from under heaven.” This is the first time we hear God saying and instructing; “Write this down…” I love when God wants us to have a permanent reminder in writing. This tells me lots of things but mainly without the study of God’s Word as a steady diet we might not know or remember what God wants us to. Matthew 18:20 ESV “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” Hebrews 10:25 “Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see
the Day drawing near…” This is my thoughts on hearing the toll of the church bells.
That tolling of the bells is most significant. It is a call to to the empty pews where God’s people should be listening to …yes….and taking notes from the lessons of anointed teachers who preach the true Word of God. I am sad that many of my fellow Christians with whom I am acquainted do not find the time to “assemble’ themselves before the cross in the sanctuaries across our nation. It reminds me of the little finger play we used to do with fingers intertwined and the index finger making the roof of the church. Only now it seem that when we open the door (thumbs) spread open…..there’s no one in the pews. How sad.

Thank you for formulating this prayer. I agree in Jesus Name.
