As a team we read together in 2012; Jesus Calling by Sarah Young. I understand some of us, if not all of us, have her new book; “Jesus Today.”
Hope to share with many others the joy and value of shared experiences as we walk daily through 2013 with Jesus Today in our hands.
Would love to hear from friends and family that are sharing in these devotions and your daily notes here.
First of all I would like to say the new web design is beautiful…many thanks! Also, as a grateful recipient of the devotional “Jesus Today”, I would like to participate in and look forward to the sharing.
I am looking forward to sharing with my sisters-in-Christ the divine wisdom Sarah Young puts forth in her devotionals. I will be extending an invitation to my friends at school [and a copy of the book] to be joining us in this exciting venture into God’s Presence.
As I said on my “tag” the Lily is outfitted beautifully just as Jesus described her. “and yet your Heavenly Father has robed them gorgeously….even more than Solomon’s Temple”
Today was the last night for my devotion in Jesus Calling. Sarah Young writes; “As this year draws to a close, receive My Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 gives us the key to why we are able to receive peace from the “Prince of Peace.” What comfort to take with us in 2013.
Reading Isaiah 9:6 is a comfort as you said. All of His characteristics listed provide assurance.
From today’s devotion, “Jesus Calling”…”My abundance and your emptiness are a perfect match. I designed you to have no sufficiency of your own. I created you as a jar of clay, set apart for sacred use. I want you to be filled with My very Being, permeated through and through with Peace.”
2 Corinthians 4: 7 “We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.”
Wow…the King of KIngs, and Lord of Lords, the Prince of Peace wants “US” to be “filled with” Him, His peace, His power, His love………..
Just to stay empty of self seeking so God can fill us with Himself! His peace, power and love. What a year changing thought!
Today started my disciplines. “Jesus Today”! Hope! Interesting, Sarah Young gives us a challenge on how to have workable hope. She affirms her words with those of the Psalmist and the Apostle Paul. Great way to ring in 2013!
Sarah Young says in the reading today, “Moreover, knowing that your story finishes well can fill your present journey with Joy.” That is a source of hope to offset the disappointments she writes of. This verse came to mind also: “And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.”
I pray and believe this for my brother that is struggling with chemo treatments.
I agree with your prayer.
I agree in prayer for your brother as well.
Now, if I can identify at all times the difference between a devotional time and a devotional life? And, live it in 2013!
Rena sent me this beautiful song played in a most anointed sound to believe for my brother; Yes, O what Hope we have….as I listen and pray; http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=k6dTeQwf488
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful song ending, I said it before and you better believe it (His is eye is on we his sparrows). When I go by the eyes I can see myself in them as I pray. Therefor I know his eye is upon us as in the song sung by Ethel waters as I am one of the sparrows on my frig as well. Praise God for his mercy and tenderness for HIS kids.
Today’s devotion by Sarah Young reads – You can even learn to be joyful in hope while waitng in my Presence – where Joy abounds. Presever in trusting Me, and I will eventually life you up. Meanwhile, cast all your anxiety on Me, knowing that I CARE FOR YOU affectionately and am watching over you continually.
We are believing this for Sara’s brother and all that are holding on to God for an answer – a whisper of HOPE from the God of Hope for each situation we are going through.
Certainly must say Ethel Waters had her Father’s Eyes.
Day 7; in Jesus Today gives me a sentence to hold, meditate, contemplate and find a place to turn sentence into action. “I am training you….In any close relationship, listening and loving are vitally important–and they are interconnected.” Some of my first thoughts are; Where is my gym for workout–ie people? Am I listening to those I do not want to be interconnected with? If so, how do I disconnect so I can be repaired and healthy to connect and be interconnected to those that inspire and cheer and guide and build….
Like to hear what you gleaned from Day 7? And, how it applies to your moment?
Today’s devotional, day 10….seems to hit a soft spot in my psyche. “Refuse to obsess about your problems and how you are going to fix them.” Trust!
I’m on day 52 today. Hope we are all on the same page…I love our reference verse Psalm 19:1,2. Imagine how Our Lord smiles when He sits down to feast at our fellowship table and we are all enjoying the same meal. We may live close, we may live far but there is no distance when the Holy Spirit is the fire! I wonder a little today what each one that reads with Sarah Young and me saw in the embers of the fire?
Hope I’m being faithful to my devotion and the right day with others as I maneuver my new book of days! I’m day 59 today. Holy, holy, holy. Sarah Young says, being aware of His holiness can bless and protect us. Whoa a good thought to redeem, don’t you think?
Yes, I think it is a good thought…good ruler to measure our thoughts by and help us be reverent. I am on day 59 also.
