A Choice

The powerful eagle gently calls her chicks to awake, awake, awake.

They will need food to grow into fledglings, and be ready for take off.

They will need strength, courage, and faith to fly high.

Our powerful, Almighty God calls – Awake, awake, awake.  You sleepy ones, I’m coming soon. Eat of the food of the Word that you may be equipped to fly like the fledging you are to become.  Pray for strength and great faith to fly like the eagle.  Pray and God will be with you.

Are you now ready for take off?  Are you ready to soar?  Jesus is waiting. With confidence and Jesus you begin your flight. Know you may fail to soar in the beginning, but know the Master Lord Jesus Christ is there to take you in His hands to release you again on your adventure with Him. With faith, further training in the Word, encouragement you will fly higher and higher with Jesus.

Oh people of the earth, do not fall into the Fowler’s trap.  He is looking for whom he can entice to eat of His earthly poisons which trap and then kill, steal, and destroy. With glee he says, “You silly fool, you’re trapped forever!

A choice is made.  Flying high with Jesus or caught in the Fowler’s trap.  Which do you choose?

I am a novice writer and painter who loves to be creative. I love singing but can't sing without a hymnal, except for children's songs. I love to make up my own songs and love the old hymns. I love to garden and got that love from my Mom and Dad who taught be everything I know from planting to harvesting to canning. I'm happy gardening, walking with my pug, JD Sir Winston Churchill, painting, and crafting. I love to spend Saturday's sitting in my rocker going through a bible study. I love working with elementary school aged children and seeing them use their creative gifts. I have taught Sunday school for a number of years and taught in the public schools for 18 years. I might say I'm retired but I spend most of my time subbing and enjoy it immensely. The kids spark my own creativeness.

  1. Rena,
    Your poem is encouraging. I have to share a scripture that is familiar with many. I recall my grandmother Furlough speaking this scripture some, especially verse 31. Oh, how I remember my grandmother always depended on the Lord. If I had concerns about something, I can hear her now saying…..”honey, keep your hand in the nail scarred hand.” “Isaiah 40:30-31 New International Version (NIV)

    30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
    and young men stumble and fall;
    31 but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
    They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint.”

    1. Love that scripture Tammy. And, we would sing it and close with these words, “…teach me Lord , teach me Lord to wait.”

      MG and our Lily team was privileged to sing hymns and pray with your grandmother many times. Maybe MG’s playing piano and Sister Furlough singing together now in heaven. ✝️🙏🏻

    2. I love the scripture you have shared. The scriptures remind me of the song, “On Eagle Wings” which was played at my Mother’s funeral. She held onto the song and Isaiah 40: 31. One day she was in such despair after my Dad’s death and she looked out of her kitchen window and thought she saw something. She climbed upon a stool to look closer and there was a rainbow just over her little garden. She knew it came from the Lord to strengthen her.

  2. The title of your poem, “A Choice”, Rena, and the words, “eat of His earthly poisons ‘ made me think of an important truth from Sara’s book, The Dance of Healing, The Ultra-Healing Spirit Comes from Within”. This truth could be one factor that impacts whether we fly or get trapped. In it she said, ” Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit – you choose.” She went on to say, “Choose your partner and prepare to Dance! Life or Death, Fruit or Poisons. What words are you speaking to yourself that poisons your soul? what words are you not speaking to yourself that keeps your soul from yielding full growth?”

    1. Debi I love your reminding me of the words Pastor Sara wrote. They always touch people. What a pouring out what we need for each day. After an experience this morning Satan seems at this late hour to try to deceive us with thinking what is the right thing to do or say is wrong. With fellowship with another Christian, God gives us truth of the devils playbook again to kill, steal, and destroy rather than continuing to bring the sweet touch of the Lord to others who are hurting, those who have busy lives who are trying to keep their heads above the water- always we are to continue in the love of Jesus to show we care. While doing my lesson for Sunday school on the same subject above and reading 1 John 3: 10-18 I thought of a song I used to sing and need to sing more which is on uTube. “They will know we are Christians by Our Love”. Hope all out there will enjoy and sing along😊😊😊

      1. I’m encouraged by those words written as well. Truth surely gives us wings and freedom!
        Now, where to we go? I have heard, each day upon awakening touch my feet to the floor and ask the giver of truth, were do I go today? Surprises just might be in store!

  3. Rena told me this week give words and if the receiver doesn’t like and wants to allow confusion they can sit on a tack. I think that’s another of her fav songs😱😉🎺🎼🎹

  4. Sounds like good advice from Rena!
    There was a lesson in Sara’s book, “Dressing for His Glory”, that had a big picture of an artist painting and the headline read, “Be An Artist of God’s Word”. The lesson was “Golden Apples in Silver Baskets” with this encouraging scripture in it for the readers to memorize: “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.” Prov 25:11.
