Sometmes I read a scripture and it feels like I just had a refreshing swim on an isolated island where a songbird delivered a note from their beak. This happened just a few moments again. I think I have discovered these times of refreshing my soul comes from ‘being in the moment.’ I’m infused by The Holy Spirit offering me the opportunity to welcome the presence of Christ into my consciousness. I just need to be there. This scripture has tripped my engine to restart the joy of being in God’s presence without my agenda. Try it!:
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”
What beautifully descriptive words, Sara…and the photo and scriptures only enhances! I feel like a taste of your refreshing spilled right over. I also appreciate the invitation to: “the joy of being in God’s presence without my agenda. Try it!:”
Thank you.
Beautiful picture and reminder to drop “my agenda” and enjoy God’s presence.🙏✝
Look! Look! As we continue to find notes that are located under the Shadow of the Almighty!
Psalm 91:3,4 “For He will save you from the trap of the fowler,
And from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you and completely protect you with His pinions,
And under His wings you will find refuge;
His faithfulness is a shield and a wall.”
Let’s keep swimming….
Psalm 42:8 NIV “By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me-a prayer to the God of my life.”
Have you often stop to listen just about dusk when it can at times seem dreary or sad and you hear a little winged friend, the whip-poor-will singing 🎶 you a love song?
This little winged friend is commonly heard within its range, but less often seen because of its camouflage. As You pray and talk to Jesus be sure to listen to him singing over you. Surely, our friend, the whip-poor-will sings in tune and on key. Listen closely!
Thank you for the notes, Sara. I will listen for the whip-poor-will.
As we started (in this blog) Psalm 91, vs 1,2 from a note dropped into our being giving us verse 1 and 2. Next day, vs 3,4…. Now day 3, vs 5,6 I find absorbing these, ‘magnitude of power’ words in my inner soul by activating my mind and williness to abide under the protection of Words from vs 1,2. So I’m hoping to use this power tool from our spiritual tool box to feel safe and a part of being and doing as we face many dark moments in our Nation and nations that are facing destruction from chemical weapons. I hope we are on prayer point to offer the following Words to the suffering. We hear often, see something say something. I say, see/hear something, do something for the Kingdom of Light. The Lords’s prayer gives us the do; pray, “the Kingdom come thou will be done on earth as in heaven….”
“Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night,
nor the arrow that flies in the day.
Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness,
nor the disaster that strikes at midday.“ Psalm 91:5,6
Psalm 91:7,8 (NLT) “Though a thousand fall at your side,
though ten thousand are dying around you,
these evils will not touch you.
Just open your eyes,
and see how the wicked are punished.”
Oh, yes, there is now another wisdom step for me… “just open my eyes.” No, I was nice and relaxed and having to much fun to awaken from my dream mode. I like the idea of just waiting for a bird to drop me a note, and sing me a song. Now! I need to open my eyes and see. Not really a pleasant sight to see but a very needful act of God. Oh Lord God, I need wisdom to discern the best path and make wise choices on this journey.
“…Just open your eyes,”
Sara, this brought my mind back to a picture of glasses and a word ‘Behold’ in a chapter from one of your books, “The Dance of Healing”. It was in the chapter, “Cultivating the Mind”. In this chapter you brought our attention to God’s command telling us to ‘Behold’ and the importance of it to us. And as I looked at different translations of Ps 91:8 I saw that ‘Behold’ was frequently used for “just open your eyes”. The book chapter said that you found ‘Behold’ in 52 Books (78%) of The Word. You also shared a scripture that seems to relate to what you are saying above: “Psalm 46…”Be still and know that I am God …I will be exalted in the earth.” And then you said: “I plant flowers and trees all over the earth…Come and behold my works! I am a safe place to hide and ready to help when you need me!”
Debi, thanks for the shoreline walk to give a fertilize plug to our precious memory thoughts. I awoke reading your comments with great joy.
As you shared a retreat from a few years back and the beauty of scriptures I am reminded of the great group of ladies that participated in our sharing and learning.
MG, our pianist for retreat among many other gatherings will have her ashes buried this morning on the very place she walked for meditative thoughts and this workbook revealed. . She loved the gatherings there and purchased a bench with the very scripture you shared, (above comment) Psalm 46… “Be still and know that I am God …I will be exalted in the earth.” And then you said: “I plant flowers and trees all over the earth…Come and behold my works! I am a safe place to hide and ready to help when you need me!”
Yes, this bench will be a rest spot for those that continue to walk the land. MG will rest under beautiful Crepe Myrtles she planted and flowers all around. Scriptures will be revealed by bench, sign post as well as the beauty of nature that will speak and reveal God. He is always ready to help when one has need.
Piney Grove Baptist Church Pastor, wife, our beloved friend Lois and other church family will be there. MG’s very special friend, Tammy Holton, will be there. She was at retreat with MG and remained a faithful friend. One of great integrity and character. She supported MG in every rest spot of her journey. The church in the world is a safe place to hide.
Our verses from Psalm 91, for today seem so approptiate for MG and all that gather to say good-bye until we all meet again. “Because you have made the Lord, [who is] my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,No evil will befall you, Nor will any plague come near your tent.For He will command His angels in regard to you, To protect and defend and guard you in all your ways [of obedience and service].They will lift you up in their hands, So that you do not [even] strike your foot against a stone.” Amp. MG’s favor reading was always from the Amp.
Note: Tammy will bring the flowers to place in vase on her Memorial Stone. 💜🌸🦋
Sara, thank you for providing a space here where you have planted beautiful words that enable us to come and join in with others in remembering MG’s burial today as well as remembrances of her life. What a blessing. And may the Lord bless each one that gathers at the burial site this morning to remember her as her ashes are buried and flowers are placed on her Memorial Stone.
Debi, it’s a privilege that we are able to gather from city to city and join in the praise.
Amen and Amen, Sara!
Lois has prepared a meal of special chicken salad among other goodies to celebrate MG! WOW blessing upon blessing when Piney Grove and Lois get involved!
Thanks to all!
Memories, memories of MG keep coming to mind this day. She certainly was precious and loved the Lord mightily. There were many ways she did this. The main memory is the unending tones she played on her beloved piano. Playing worship songs, school songs for musicals, songs to bring healing to a broken vessel. She played from Leesburg, Virginia to North Carolina, to India wth Joy making the keyboard danced and songs came alive emotion.
Through her card ministry she spent hours perusing the card shelves to get the one which God impressed on her heart to meet a need. These where met in a timely way year after year. She was never too tired nor ever missed a person to touch. .
MG made sure also that no one would lack for food as she carried containers and bags of tantalizing foods or prepared them for individuals and retreats.
We certainly will missed our MG who was faithful until the end. Now she is with Jesus playing love songs to Him who she has and will love forever. One of the songs that came to mind this morning while thinking of her was “Amazing Grace” just for our Mary Grace!
Psalm 91:11-16 NKJ “For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
12) In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
13) You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
14) “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
15) He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
16) With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”
This week for some of us that paused long enough to see have seen our spiritual framework go under roof. Seems heaven has joined earth in so many glorious ways. Our eyes seemed to pause and ask, am I really seeing buds, blossoms and blooms after what seemed like a long bleak winter.
Believers joining their gifts and talents to accomplish task that seemed stalled and with no end in sight! Look above at verse 13,14 and give thanks with joy of today and tomorrow while linking arms with verse 14-16. Whoa, dosent this feel like having a dazzling new dress or tux’s for a Spring wedding. Hey, the royals of Great Brit has nothing on the spiritual happenings we see daily!
