  1. Did you ever sing this song in church?
    The “Song of Deborah” (Judg. 5:24-26) recounts:
    “Extolled above women be Jael,
    Extolled above women in the tent.
    He asked for water, she gave him milk;
    She brought him cream in a lordly dish.
    She stretched forth her hand to the nail,
    Her right hand to the workman’s hammer,
    And she smote Sisera; she crushed his head,
    She crashed through and transfixed his temples.”

    1. No, I don’t recall singing that song in church or finding it in a hymnal or songbook, but I understood from what Pastor Reggie said that it was considered one the greatest masterpieces of world literature.

      1. Debi, it seems your comment aligns with Pastor Reggie’s earlier comments that the Book of Judges has not been a pop art class in churches recently.

        It seems today internet search is the answer to all things regardless who gives the info. And, pop culture sings their own tunes.

        I must say I think Jael with others in this story just seems unmatched. Pastor Reggie is a great storyteller and it would be easy to call it a fantasy story without faith that God made sure this was recorded in His Word for all to read.

        When my son Jon was about 6th grade he started attending a church youth group and invited an unchurched friend. They went a few times and then my son approached me with being uninterested in the group. He approached his conversation in the way he had been taught by telling me all the nice things of the young teacher. He was good at basketball, loved skiing and pizza but he didn’t know or seemly didn’t want to tell all those great stories he knew and loved. Stories like David and his sling shot among many others included Jael. And, the blood of a Cross. Almost 30 years later we are still looking for Bible Teachers in community churches that love truth.

        A Christian Mother of an adult daughter told me her daughter was editing one of her drafts and said don’t tell a child about blood, etc etc

        Without a doubt this account as taught here reminds us there is a power at work in the earth that surpasses any man made plan without that plan be attached to it came from GOD!
